Obama Haters Are So Upset That They're Asking the White House to Let Arizona Secede

Why would out-of-towners ever write off Arizona as a place just full of bozos and lunatics?

Well, the petition to the White House requesting that the Obama administration let Arizona secede from the Union and start its own government is a good place to start your research.

Someone posting by the name of "Nicholas M." from Gilbert started the petition on the White House's "We the People" website, which is a cute thing set up by the Obama folks to make it appear that they're actively considering input from people submitting petitions on the Internet.

A healthy portion of the petitions just ask for the Obama administration to legalize weed, but here's what more than 12,400 people have signed on to request:

Peacefully grant the State of Arizona to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

As the founding fathers of the united States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..."

The citizens of the great state of Arizona have the right to stand for their principles. That man is granted unalienable rights, which are not the dispensations of the government, but find their beginnings in God and come from God alone. These are the principles that our forefathers stood for, the principles upon, which our Constitution is based, and those in which we firmly place our belief and resolve.

Just to make one of the many points illustrating how moronic this is, the state's budget for next year (appropriations report here) relies on the federal government for 34 percent of all spending (page BH-11).

That's not to imply that any actual thought went into this petition, except for Obama sucks, man!, but luckily for the rest of Arizona, there are people in other states who are also trying this, including Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and others.

(Note to the the first three: You've already gone through with this once, and you got your asses kicked. To its credit, Texas is 1-for-2 on serious secession attempts.)

All of these petitions were started within days of Obama's re-election, so there's really no guesswork involved in figuring out the motivation behind them.

Unfortunately, the petition doesn't list the full names of creators or signers, or we'd ask "Nicholas M." how he came up with this brilliant idea.

Who would run our government? Not the retards that are trying to run it now I hope. I think we should turn our whole government over to the feds so we could clean out all of the crooks and idiots that have taken control of us. I am a native of AZ and I want to get out of here so bad because of our so-called leaders. I know some of you will have something to say against me, but that's alright. It should be noted that there are a lot of signatures from people from other states on the petition for Arizona to withdraw... that really made me laugh.  The rest of the country probably already has plans to "build that fence" to keep Arizonians out.

Looks like a bunch of pro Obama people wrote this article and are commenting on here. The South did try it in the 1860's and failed. People tried it against the British on July 4th 1776 and succeeded. Its got to start somewhere you stupid fucks. No body wants seceession. This is not even the right process to go through to secede from the union. It is a statement that people are getting fed up. Just like Americans got fed up with the British. @teabaggerAbuser haha democrats paid the most. Obama had a little over 50 million in popular vote. Romney 47 million. So take out the people on govt. assistance that voted for Obama. Take out the African American voters that only voted for him on the sole basis of his skin color not his policies. Now add 3rd party voters to Romneys 47 million because they like the 3rd party voters dont like Obamas policies. I wonder what that number is. Id be willing to bet more people in this country want Obama gone. Everyone knows that getting fed up with and rebelling against a hereditary monarchy prone to arbitrary and capricious rule, and getting fed up with a legitimate democratically elected representative government are exactly the same. It is this type of false analog that weakens rather than strengthens the conservative argument.

 I'm not fed up.  Well, that's not entirely true...I am fed up with people like you.  But other than that I'm pretty happy with the direction our country is headed in.  You know, full withdrawal from Iraq and impending withdrawal from Afghanistan, good (if imperfect) movement on health care reform, continued recovery from the devestation wrought by the Bush administration, continued exploration of alternative energies while at the same time America is on the path to becoming the largest fossil fuel producer in the world, defeat of the candidates like Akin and Murdoch in the 2012 election cycle.  All-in-all we're headed in a pretty good direction. 

 

You can keep up with your bullshit ranting or you can get on-board and help our country succesfully continue on the path we're currently headed down.  Of this I can be certain, however, your bullshit ranting isn't going to accomplish anything.

We have two traffic lights in my home town - and a third that only activates when mining company trucks need to cross the state highway. A far cry from L.A.  @shadeaux14 Well if you peruse the signatures on the petition, you'll see basically a 1:3:13 trend among the signers, meaning that for every Arizonan who signed the petition, there are 3 people of unknown location and 13 out of state people who agree that Arizona should secede from the country.  If you say, well only Arizonans votes should count, then there is perhaps several hundred Arizonans who are promoting secession, a ridiculously miniscule percentage of the population.  I say, let these hundreds of people go where ever they want, but keep the State, and let's paint it anew in a nice, bright shade of blue.

@jim3k if you scroll and find my earlier post it gives some of my perspective on the war...but Obama didn't get Osama, seal team six did...i personally dislike when Obama takes any credit in that because he did nothing but approve the order which any president would have done...Obamacare is socialistic in nature and the more and more we allow government to dictate our economy then yes i believe we are heading towards socialism... And i certainly do not believe he did any good for our economy because it still sux and another Great Depression is still possible so just cuz we haven't had one yet doesn't mean he has prevented one....however, i do not feel like it is the end of the world and what ever happens, the U.S. will alright....i kind of feel like with all of these major events taking place that we are heading towards a revolution of some kind or at least a major reformation period which, im sure we can all agree, we need.

Yours apparently didn't mention the Missouri Compromise, the Compromise of 1850, the Dread Scott decision, Bleeding Kansas, the Fugitive Slave Act, the gag rules on abolitionist literature in the south, the John Brown raid on Harper's Ferry, the Lincoln Douglas debates, or the fact that none of the southern states attempted secession until Lincoln was elected president, on a platform that included limiting slavery to the states that already had it. Slavery, by the way, wasn't abolished until 1865 in the nation as a whole (the 13th Amendment, Goober), and 2 years earlier in the parts of the country under insurrection through the Emancipation Proclamation. Thank you for demonstrating to those who read this forum how this so-called secession movement is propelled by the low information voters who based their thinking on mythology and deep-rooted race-based paranoia.

 @Fukobama   You have not read your history book very well.  The only tax involved was the tariff of 1828 on foreign manufactured goods.  Jackson had a chance to repeal it, but declined.  Plus, slavery was not truly abolished until the passage of the 13th Amendment in 1865, after Lincoln's assassination.  And if you consider slavery being abolished by the Emancipation Proclamation, that occurred on January 1, 1863, a full 2-1/2 years after South Carolina fired upon Ft. Sumter.

 

There are a number of causes of the War, but you haven't identified any of them.
