Gilbert resident Holly Solomon pleaded not guilty today to charges related to what was quite possibly the nation's biggest overreaction to President Obama's re-election -- allegedly running over her husband with her Jeep for not voting against the president.

Daniel Solomon -- who may have "permanent disfigurement" as a result of the incident -- told police that his wife started arguing with him the weekend after the election over his "lack of voter participation," specifically in the presidential race.

"According to Daniel, Holly believed her family was going to face hardship as a result of President Obama's re-election," Gilbert police Sergeant Jesse Sanger said in an e-mail at the time.

Witnesses told police that there was a lot of yelling before Holly Solomon hopped in her Jeep, and started chasing her husband around the parking lot. Her husband eventually tried to run away, but Solomon hit him, pinning him under the car and on a curb, according to police.

As we've previously mentioned, had Daniel Solomon voted, and voted for Obama about 200,000 times, Mitt Romney still would've won Arizona's 11 electoral votes, so it's not clear where Holly Solomon got this idea that it was her husband's fault.

According to the court documents, Daniel Solomon's pelvis was fractured, and the arteries that feed his bowels were torn. Hospital staff also told police it's possible that Solomon will have "permanent disfiguration."

Solomon pleaded not guilty at her arraignment this morning -- which is usually just a formality -- to charges of reckless driving, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Solomon's next court date is scheduled for January 11, which is nine days before President Obama's second inauguration.

Seems that the trial hasn't happened yet - According to the public records on the court case, the defense is going the "Incompetent to stand trial" route.

I hope they have a followup article after the hearing on the 11th. I'm curious how this case plays out.

According to the initial reports, the guy didn't vote AT ALL. It wasn't that he voted for Obama.

It's simple really! Arizona votes Republican, typically by a landslide. It wasn't even gonna be close. NOW you can see why your average everyday increasingly dillusional Republican voter would feel the need to mow down her husband (husband, as in: To love, honor, cherish... blah blah blah) who's Demecratic vote would have meant NOTHING in the final outcome anyway.

This is a crime of the Zombie Apocalypse.  We are in the early stages.  I blame Faux News for turning this woman into a Zombie with their television rays..

Hope she rots in jail.  Ironically she was right to believe "her family was going to face hardship".

Maybe she can get Romney to appear as a character witness in the penalty phase of her trial.

@shadeaux14 @eric.nelson745 Remember, she was upset that her husband didn't vote for Romney. He can testify as to her good character. After all, anyone who didn't vote for him is not a patriotic American. What I don't understand though is that the charges don't include something like attempted murder. No doubt in her crazed mind, that's what she was aiming to do.
