Jodon F. Romero, about to kill himself live on Fox News.
In case you missed it, a man identified as Jodon F. Romero committed suicide Friday after trying to outrun Phoenix police.

His death was witnessed by anyone who was tuned in to Fox News at the time, as the network was covering the chase live for its national audience, for some reason.

As evidenced by Friday's events, you don't really know how car chases are going to end, and this one didn't end well. Scores of people complained about a suicide being aired on live TV, and while the complaints varied, the most common one seemed to be that car chases shouldn't be aired on live TV -- unless the person is famous, according to some.

So, for this morning's poll: should Fox News keep showing live car chases?

Daniel Quigley - I don't think the question is whether we should censor the news, but whether car chases are news to begin with.

Not only should Faux News continue to show car chases they should do it 24/7.  It is much better than hearing their douchecannon anchor people spew their bigotry and hatred.  Faux News is a disgrace and is fictionalized news reporting

Are you asking whether journalism should be reporting "entertaining" news that draws more attention to its adverts rather than focusing on factual stories with deeper effects on society? I hope so as it would be most ironic.

We should not censor the news. Two helos collided because at least one pilot made a fatal error, not because of a car chase.

I remember two helos that collided because of a chase.

In Phoenix and L.A. FOX and whatever other channels should show what they want and what their viewers will bear with no pressure from any government agency.

What does showing a car chase have to do with an engineer's failure to cut away during the delay? That's like asking "should we have any live broadcast" if a channel fails to bleep a curse word.

they shouldn't show them, and cops shouldn't chase people. they never seem to end well. i know a cops duty is to chase the bad guy, but putting innocent people in danger by chasing a car thief at high speed on public streets hardly seems worth it.
