Should Everyone Forget About MCSO's Bungled Sex-Crime Cases Because It Was Uncovered a Few Years Ago?

Sex crimes? Ahhhhhh, get outta here.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio wants the local media to stop talking about the "FIVE YEAR OLD story" that involves the MCSO's bungled sex-crime investigations.

The Arpaio ad, as our colleague Ray Stern debunked yesterday, would like you to just forget about the whole sex-crime thing.

Sheriff Arpaio Distorts Truth in Ad About Sex-Crimes Investigations

Here's what the ad has to say about that sex-crimes thing being kind of old:

Some things you should consider about the recent story:
  • Why are they resurrecting a FIVE YEAR OLD story?
  • Why are they running this story just weeks before an election?
  • Why doesn't the media report on other police agencies' problems regarding sex crimes investigations? Many of them have had similar problems recently, but the media only focuses on the Sheriff's Department.

Can't the G.D. media just let it go? (No.)

As Stern pointed out yesterday, MCSO didn't magically fix all the cases five years ago, and as New Times readers may know, many of these cases are still ongoing.

So, should everyone just forget about those pesky sex crimes?

I think 423 people should rape the hell out of Sheriff Joe and then tell him to forget about it. It is not important, there are other matters more serious we are working on.Lets see how he feels then.

I think Sheriff Paul can round up those men to do the job. Lucy Babeu

Whenever Joe asks this question, about bringing up a 5 year old case, the response should be

"Well in all fairness Mr. Arpaio, why are you bringing up a 4 year old case in hunting the presidents alleged false birth certificate? Also, why are you bringing it up 4 years later and only a few weeks before an election?"

Fight fire with fire all.

Obviously you nor anyone in your family have ever been a victim of a sex crime. Sometimes it takes years for repressed memories to make abuse come clear.  Sometimes even with therapy it never fully passes. So what you;re saying is if the cases are old, these people deserve no justice.

I tell you what, let someone into your home to abuse someone in your family and then let me know if 5 years is enough for you to forgive and forget...

Take the victims perspective in this, because obviously Sheriff Joke can't seem to commiserate with anyone. He's not affected, no one corn holed him so why should it matter?

Cases Too Old? Yea, and 9-11 should just be forgotten because it was a few years ago eh? I'm sure you would be the first person to turn down a holiday based on Sept 11  with a day off eh?

(It's too old, fuggeda bout it?!) Eeyah right...

5 year old DNA WILL still render a guilty party so why should they just drop these cases if in even 5 MORE years we can still catch the person who did it.  I think not.. Justice is Justice.. No matter how long it takes..

If you take the time to read about these cases that have been recently published in the Arizona Republic, most of them are very old, he said, she said, or with virtually no tangible proof that even an incompetent prosecutor could take to trial.  The fact that a virtually infinite statute of limitations has been placed upon such cases in Arizona invites all manner of abuse by the legal system--or in nearly any divorce proceeding with children.  Most civilized countries and states have a 6 month statute of limitations or should have such limits.    Crimes that can place offenders in prison for many years should require solid proof--tangible evidence like DNA or similar solid evidence of guilt.  Otherwise, cases involving sex degenerate down to a modern form of religious inquisition.

DNA and a pregnancy

Yeah, no evidence is why this guys is finally behind bars, years later no thanks to the MCSO

You go tell the kid in the video on that link that her case was old and had virtually no evidence to prosecute - exactly the same thing the MCSO told her... and was wrong about... again.

I would love to see her slap you across the face when you tell her her case didn't matter because of this or that, all proven wrong and to actually be just laziness and bad work by MCSO - I will enjoy watching her slap you as you would deserve it.

@Flyer9753  the only reason he is behind bars is because the case was NOT handled by MCSO anymore

I know, which speaks even more to MCSO's malfeasance IMHO.

a lot of those cases did have DNA. those cases were all reported when they were happening or soon after. just because the police never looked into them for 5 years doesnt mean those people should be let off the hook. the reason those cases are som old is because there was no work put into them. it had nothing to do with them not reporting them for 5 years. most of these trails are no longer followable because of the police inactivity.

It would be one thing if they were really sorry and trying to fix everything but they have down over and over that they are trying to do the minimum to fix and still have extreme priority issues that show they are willing to put media and politics over peoples safety.

The poll results are 111.11% no to 0% yes.  111.11% - how exactly does that work?

danzigsdaddy
danzigsdaddy topcommenter like.author.displayName like.author.displayName like.author.displayName like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 5 Like

@LegitQuestions it reads 111.11% because Jan Brewer voted it should be dropped, and since her son is "The Knife Point Rapist" it is correcting and compensating for her vote

@LegitQuestions because even joe knows it shouldnt be dropped. he just wishes it was someone else he could bring it up about. he couldnt do it with Dan Saban, so he had to spread false rumors of Dan raping his mother in law.
