President Obama Still Getting Smoked by Mitt Romney in Arizona Polls

There was a poll that showed the race between President Obama and former Massachusetts Governor a "toss up" in Arizona -- once. That was also in April.

That hasn't been the case since, as a poll released today by Public Policy Polling shows the prez down nine percentage points to Romney.

The thought of Obama winning Arizona -- which the president's campaign has claimed is possible -- hasn't sounded like a plausible idea in months, as far as the polls are concerned.

According to PPP, 53 percent of Arizonans are planning to go for Romney, and 44 percent for Obama. Four percent claimed they haven't decided.

Half of the people used in this poll voted for Senator John McCain in 2008, and 44 percent voted for Obama. McCain actually won 54-45.

Last month, PPP's poll had Obama down 11 points to Romney.

On the other hand, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Richard Carmona appears to have a shot at victory, if this poll is to be trusted.

Forty-four percent opted for Republican Jeff Flake to take over retiring Senator Jon Kyl's seat, while 43 percent went for Carmona. The other 13 percent said they were undecided.

The last PPP poll had Flake and Carmona tied up at 38 percent each.

Pres. Obama will not likely take AZ but we do have a good chance to get a reasonable and competent Senator in office in the person of Dr. Rich Carmona.  I would be nice to have someone with a reasonable attitude and able to work across the aisles to get things done.  I am weary of this state being the laughing stock of the nation.

Leaves me free to vote Libertarian, like I did when that jerk off Reagan got elected.

This is no surprise to me. Arizona is a red state, we have too many old redneck blue hairs from elsewhere in the country who haven't grown up yet and learned from their mistakes of the past.

And in the end it really does not matter, Obama does not need AZ to win.

Romney however DOES need to take either Ohio (which is looking very doubtful) or take ALL THE REST OF THE STATES that are in play to win, another next to impossible thing to do especially since many of those states are already polling towards Obama.

Granted polls mean jack shit but the are an indicator.

However one thing that has not meant jack shit over the past 8 elections is the Electoral College predictors and ALL of those say Obama is going to win.

Obama is a one-term president. Good!

 @JoeArpaioFan Someone (you) clearly has not looked at the national polls.

Romney is done. Time for you to look forward to another 4 years of Obama and for us to look forward to another 4 years of making you look even stupider than you make yourself look

Watch the Carmona-Flak race for Senate.  That's going to be the most interesting in Arizona this fall.

 @LegitQuestions I agree.  Carmona is a strong candidate with his military history, his being a doctor, and his being appointed by Bush as Surgeon General.

 @TaxpayingVoter

 Go even further back than that and Carmona is the true American success story.  Poor family.  High school drop-out.  Army service in Vietnam.  College.  Medical School.  Physician.  Emergency Room doctor.  Law enforcement/SWATservice.  Appointed as Surgeon General by a Republican President.

Unlike Flake, Carmona's record of public service is in the trenches doing the hard, unglamorous, dirty work in both the military and law enforcement.  Flake's record of success begins as a lobbyist in Washington and his public service is limited to eating in the House Members Only dining room in the Capital Building.

It will be interesting to watch how these two candidates position themselves and how the outside money plays a factor as this race evolves over the next 55 days.

This is Arizona. Of course Romney is ahead in the polls.

 @HaddieNuff Romney is ahead in the polls everywhere.

 @JoeArpaioFan

That is a total lie unless you are the one writing the polls.

Gallup, Rasmussen and the Electoral College predictors (who have not been wrong in 8 elections) all have Obama leading Romney and all of them have been showing increases for Obama since the Convention when he got a bump

How much of a bump did Romney get after his convention? Oh that's right - ZERO!

 @JoeArpaioFan

 Asking three friends on your myspace page doesn't count as a polls.  As for the legit polls, no - Romney is not ahead anywhere.  The polls range for Obama up by 6% to a statistcal tie, depending on the poll.  Even the right-leaning polls have Obama ahead.  Just cause you say it doesn't make it true - ever.

 @HaddieNuff To be realistic, however, Mittens might as well be a rock with an "R" painted on it.  The election here in AZ would have the same outcome.

 @TaxpayingVoter

 I think elections here in Arizona HAVE had the same outcome! (i.e. electing rocks into office.)  Look at our governor, Attorney General, most of the legislature, the MCSO sheriff... the list is too long for the space here.

My remark was one of disgust, and I should have marked it as such. Sorry! :}

 @HaddieNuff Oh, it's just fine.  I understood the feeling you meant behind it.  I'm sure others did, as well.

I was just agreeing with you.  :)

Yeah, well, given the current slate of elected officials representing this beautiful state, it's no surprise.  You know what they say:  You can't have crAZy without AZ.   I, for one, am tired of being embarrassed by our elected politicians, all of them.  Vote them all out.  I dare you AZ

 @DOOLEY  @m2old4bs By NOT voting, you allow the sort of lunacy that we're experiencing now to be voted into office.

Not voting is the same as voting for the competition.
