Mitt Romney Math: Arizona Has 14th-Highest Proportion of Obama-Loving Freeloaders

Mitt Romney, creator of Romney Math™
As you may have heard, a video surfaced of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney pandering to a wealthy group of potential donors, in which he described 47 percent of Americans as people who "pay no income tax," and are committed Obama voters addicted to the government teat.

That's good news for President Obama in Arizona, because according to the most recent tally done by a national tax-policy organization, Arizona has the 14th-highest percentage of federal income tax "non-payers" in the nation.

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in the video. "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it."

He continued, "That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what...These are people who pay no income tax."

The exact source of this "47 percent" number is hard to track down, but according to one of the organizations concerned about the number of Americans with no federal income tax liability, the Tax Foundation, that number was somewhere between 40 and 45 percent in 2010. For 2008 --when the number of "non-payers" was estimated to be around 36 percent, the Tax Foundation released a handy state-by-state map to show the proportion of "non-payers" by state.

So, according to this map, and Romney Math™, Arizona -- with 37 percent of the state's residents being "non-payers" -- had the 14th-highest proportion of committed Obama voters out of the 50 states.

Of course, Senator John McCain took Arizona in 2008, during his presidential bid. In fact, McCain took eight of the 10 states with the highest amount of "non-payers."

Oh well, Romney was just riling up his base, yadda, yadda, yadda. But considering that every state south of Virginia had a "non-payer" rate above the national rate, he may be confused about whom he's writing off as Obama voters.

Big surprise, we also have one of the highest populations of illegal immigrants and anchor babies.  In fact, federal assistance to states like Arizona is basically used to prop up democrat enclaves.  They are basically establishing "welfare colonies" in the red states.

Funny, I see more people that believe that Obama was born in Kenya and have Nobama stickers on their trucks with 35inch tires... Pretty sure most of the "freeloaders" here in AZ are republicans.

It's true that Obama lovers are free loaders that expect the government to give them everything for free.  I'm not saying it, it is a proven fact!

I think we're all missing the point - it's not Willard Romney who is out of touch - it is his supporters, specifically the ones he was speaking to.  Mittens was just doing what he always has done, tell people what they want to hear.  These rich people who he was talking about are engaged in a full scale class war against the poor.  They want the labor and money that the poor have and they need to justify their attempts to take it by hook or by crook.  Don't talk to these people about Jesus feeding the poor or closing the naked or housing the homeless, they don't want to hear that kind of CRAP huh Mitt - they want to hear what insignificant little ants these "poor" are and how righteous the rich are for attempting to exploit the undeserving bastards.  That's the point of this whole story and that's the point of our U.S. Constitution - the rich are always trying to cheat the poor and the poor are always trying to keep the rich from screwing them.  The rich will use religion, nationalism, nativism, or politicians to screw over the poor and god help the people who get in their way.  Witness the attacks on our President and the Democrats in Congress - they're not citizens, they're socialists, they're baby-killers, they're muslims.  When will the 99% (or is it 47%) wake up and realize that the people who are standing up for the poor ARE the ones they should be voting for.  If Obama stops advocating for the poor and middle class - then vote the next guy in who is.  But right now, the choice is clear - FOUR MORE YEARS.

lol for someone who hides his tax returns, i find it hilarious he talks about those who dont pay...now i think its time he releases the returns, or drops out..he cant be taken seriously at all....also, does he not know the difference between a nuclear bomb, and a dirty bomb? He mentions fissile material in the video, but I dont think he realizes one could use radioactive material from an X ray machine and make one lol..

Mittens is either woefuly misinformed or simply lying. Most who don't pay income taxes are working poor who make too little to have to file a 1040 after taking standard deductions and earned income tax credit (a Republican-backed credit),  seniors who are living on social security checks they earned, vets getting government disability payments and students who have government loans or grants. Hardly the "welfare queens" he wants us to believe.

Fact Check had a very good breakdown of the 47%, who they are, where they're from, and who they can be expected to support in the presidential campaign.  As this article points out, it's not what and who Mitt tries to tell us it is.

Once again, Romney proves he's totally out of touch with Americans.  He seems especially ignorant of who makes up his own base.

@JoeArpaioFan Okay, when are you going to give up free speech?  Or do you think the right to be free of government intervention in your act of speaking to us through your writing to be an entitlement that you somehow deserve (no matter how often you abuse the priviledge).  Other governments don't allow free speech.  But you, Mr. freeloader, thinks they have a right to it.  HA!  Oh, but you say that the Constitution guarantees your right to free speech.  Then in the next breath you'll say the rights of U.S. Citizens to be free from unreasonable search and seizure is situational and if they look like illegal aliens they got it coming.  My, you are a complicated little freeloading turd aren't you.

@fairymagic13 You volunteer your services in the U.S. military, only to come back a disabled person. You naturally become poor. And that's undeserving, according to Romney--"no matter", even if you risked your own life defending and fighting for what you believe in (our country). Or if you are born with a disability and naturally become poor. You're still undeserving. Or you get into a life threatening accident and become disabled and naturally become poor. You're still undeserving. Romney is basically blaming an unknown percentage of Americans who are poor by not of their own faults. Yet, he's a Mormon, filthy rich, elitist, and of course--evil. He's definitely out of touch with America.

@HaddieNuff most of them are like most of the rest of us. When I had a job I made around 18K per year. I didn't make enough to have to pay federal income taxes. (I did loan the government interest free for the year tho, which I got back most of it anyways)

@HaddieNuff Is _anything_ that Mitt tells people, actually like it is?

@JoeArpaioFan  @jaclyn8946 we can start by taking away the dollars that go to freeloaders like Exxon/Mobil, farmers (who are in the middle of a terrible drought), small businesses, and all according to dumb fucks like you, since they are all freeloaders. A start would be oil exploration= a cost of business and is not a tax deduction for record profits.

@Flyer9753  @HaddieNuff no because he has head up his ass syndrome (or HUHAS). The only known cure for this is the forced removal of his head out of his rectum and the application of a bright pink ball gag from the porn Castle. That way once his head is removed he can no longer speak lies, halftruths or statements designed simply to get idiots to vote for him.

As an aside I like Obama, he has a certain charisma when he speaks, but I don't think he's the best president ever, however the mess that he got from the previous dunderhead has put him at a disadvantage. I believe that in the future Obama will be viewed as a good president, the one before him? Not so much.

ptcgaz
ptcgaz

@Flyer9753  @HaddieNuff yup. The problem is that many people (esp here in AZ) do not want Obama to have any kind of success at all. Instead they want him to fail. I dont know if it's because he's black or if it's because he is a democrat. Whatever the case I would never vote for a snakeoil salesman like Romeny/Ryan. They want to drastically change America and make it worse for most of us.

Spot on.

Unfortunately presidential elections in my life time have primarily been a case of picking the lesser of the evils instead of the candidate that I feel would be best for this country.

Having said that and doing my own research into both candidates, my research not the crap the media throws at us, I am voting for Obama because while I do not like everything he has done and/or plans to do, I know that Romney would be the worse choice.

I like Obama too for the most part and will wholeheartedly agree that he inherited an absolute mess from GWB.  Without going into a book here, which is possible with GWB, I find it amazing that people are insisting those problem be fixed in 4 years when GWB had 8 to do the damage and any intelligent person knows it takes longer to fix something than it does to trash it.

Expecting miracles in 4 years is just delusional, especially with a do nothing obstructionist congress that set the record in all of history for filibusters, even on legislation the republicans themselves authored and then reversed on once the White House said they were also behind the legislation

GWB is and should be remembered as a War Criminal in my  opinion, but as far as history is concerned I will settle for the fact he will be remembered (deservedly so) as an idiot
