Michael Turley Wanted to "Test" Phoenix Cops -- With a Kid Dressed as a Terrorist Running Around With a Fake Grenade Launcher

What stupidity looks like.
How long would it take the Phoenix Police Department to respond to a terrorist situation?

Michael Turley really wanted an answer to that question, and he got it -- by getting a 16-year-old kid to wear a sheet on his body, put a towel on his head, and run around Phoenix with a fake rocket-propelled grenade launcher, according to Phoenix police.

How could that possibly go wrong?

Oh, and by the way -- make sure to put the evidence on YouTube to let everyone know exactly what you were doing.

In case you didn't get the point from the video itself, the description provides an explanation too:

"The Anonymous Filmmaker explores how the Phoenix Police Department reacts days after the event at the Century 16 Movie Theater in Aurora, Colorado where a gunman, James Holmes, killed 12 people and injured 58 more at the premiere of Batman The Dark Knight Rises. In our Hollywood style video, a man resembling a terrorist paces around a busy street in Phoenix Arizona carrying a rocket launcher until the police apprehend him. This film explores the response time and reaction of law enforcement within the Phoenix rural community. You will be shocked to see what happens."

According to Phoenix police, a bunch of people called 9-1-1 the afternoon of July 28, to report that some idiot was pointing either a gun or rocket-propelled grenade launcher at people driving.

Sure enough, police found the kid with a towel on his head and with the fake grenade launcher hanging out with Turley, who was manning the video camera, near Bell Road and 35th Avenue.

After detaining both of them, police were told that the two of them were just "making a movie."

It wasn't until recently that police discovered they were trying to test the cops' response to a terrorist situation -- which they then turned into a movie, according to Phoenix police Officer James Holmes.

Holmes adds that police found more evidence of their intent was discovered after a search warrant was served at Turley's house.

Charges are pending against the kid, who's not dealing with the big-boy justice system.

Turley, on the other hand, was booked into jail on charges of knowingly giving a false impression of a terrorist act, endangerment, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and misconduct involving a simulated explosive.

Two months later and after seeing the video on YouTube with the comment about the "15 minutes response time," the police went into punishment mode and arrested him on those dubious charges.Stupid stunt, heck yes, but if the cops had a genuine public safety concern, then they had an obligation to arrest him on the spot.

This guy and his relative are IDIOTS of the first degree

Part of why no one really paid attention to them was it looked STUPID and was clearly fake

So clearly fake that the 'fakeness' is all that stopped them from being shot, which in my opinion would have been a DDSF - Done Did Society a Favor

Glad he is now arrested, stupid is as stupid does once again with the youtube post

He should have parked himself behind a car, sitting on the perimeter of Deer Valley Airport or Sky Harbor Int'l Airport and test the response time. $$ says it would have been a completely different ending to this "movie",

They are very lucky. I had seen them and immediately called my buddy at Luke with the coordinates for a fighter strike package on they ass. They were just seconds away from annialation when I called it off. The scary part is, I had to shout down the lead pilot because he was going rogue. I was like "Alpha 160, I repeat STAND DOWN!". And he was like "Ah Pony XRAY, you are breaking up... I am going to lay down a blaket of bombs on that location I have them in sight". I had to call his wife to have her and his little boy beg him over the air to knock it off....

He probably tried to test MCSO's response to a sex crime, but he's still waiting to finish that "movie."

what if someone decided they were going to take the guy out, as in shot him dead? what the hell were these idiots thinking? I know myself, and if I had seen this I would have had cell in one hand dialing 911 and looking for a way to stop the guy, and not in a nice way either...Someone could have used their car to run him over to stop the 'terrorist attack" right? Then some teen would have been killed or maimed for what??? Testing purposes?

I think the folks that twirl signs to announce store openings/closings/sales, or "1st month free rent" deals are scarier than these two clowns!
