Joe Arpaio's BirtherFest Canceled Due to Crappy Ticket Sales

What your neighborhood birther may look like today.
BirtherFest 2012, featuring Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio as headliner, has been canceled.

The Greater Phoenix Tea Party Patriots group admits it just couldn't sell enough of the $10 tickets to hold the event, which was scheduled for September 22 at the Celebrity Theatre.

BirtherFest was also to feature old-person celebrity Pat Boone, and Terry Lakin, the Army doctor who spent time in a military prison for refusing his deployment to Afghanistan over "birther" issues.

Cold Case Posse lead bullshitter Mike Zullo was also on the list of speakers.

As the Feathered Bastard said when the event was announced, "Apparently Joe didn't get the message that his birther shtick is not popular with the public."

But don't worry, birthers, Linda Bentley wrote while breaking the bad news on Facebook that the "investigation" is ongoing. Of course, that "investigation" is as real as the unicorn in my backyard, and not nearly as exciting.

If you already paid for your opportunity to take in more shit than a Porta-Potty after the Nathan's hot dog-eating contest, don't worry -- the group says you're getting a refund.

Why wasn't this national event held at the Trump in Las Vegas?

I am seriously disappointed.

Where else could I see the comedy act of the MCSO shurf, his maternal twin sister, Pat Boone; the former military officer, and the pretender 'investigator' from N.J.; for $10?

Not to mention I would have been able to hear them all say once again, "we have some real important new information that will prove the POTUS birth certificate is NOT valid".

But, they never reveal said new information.

In the software world it's called vapor ware....

I can not tell you how much this pleases me. Arpaio is a horrible, national embarrassment.

You'll get your refund after Joe returns the deposits for his tickets to space.

So what happened to all of Arpiehole's Sun City fans?  Apparently when it comes to "paying for themselves" they aren't interested.

Maybe if Joke would have has Russ Pearce as a special guest, this clown event would have failed even sooner!

UFO fantasies are MUCH more entertaining than this dreck - just think of the possibilities if one of them stories does turn out to be the "real thing"!

All the "birthers" can promise is that we can never elect another president if they are right! Ask a real lawyer about that one :-)

It's a good thing he had the opportunity to speak at the Tampa Zoo during the RNC.  Maybe that will satisfy his insatiable need to be an attention whore for a while.  I find it pretty funny that his loyal, if delusional, fans won't pay $10 to see him and his geriatric troop of tin foil hat wearers pontificate about debunked conspiracy theories, but most of them would pay $15 to go see "The Campaign" (which, by the way, looks hilarious, just like our Lunatic Shuf!)

I also found the "meet the real Joe Arpaio" campaign ad perplexing.  It seemed more like a eulogy than a campaign ad.  Almost all of if was about what Arpaio used to do in the past, before he became a corrupt politician and a self-absorbed egomaniac.  Do you suppose he can recall any of these occurances?  He sure can't remember anything he has done in the last 5 or 6 years...

what is disgusting is them touting Lakin as a patriot. He hiked up his skirt and refused to go fight because he didnt believe in his president. There were plenty of people over there who DIED, not believing in Obama either, yet they still fought. when you join the service you are fighting for America. i respect the man  who didnt believe in Obama, YET still went and fought till the end for this country more than the coward who waited till it was time to deploy to start crying. He signed on for a job and didnt do it. patriot my ass, Lakin is a coward.

Mr. Hendley, what is really sad is if you follow the comments on most of these articles. there are still many people who believe Joe and the rest of his "SPECIAL OLYMPIAN'S" believe that the investigation is valid, YET they dont believe the El Mirage sexual assaults, abuse of power, racial profiling or hundred million dollars of mismanaged money are real. its starting to look like half this state (most of this county, and almost all of Sun City) should be wearing safety helmets when at the mall.

@Tommy_Collins I was disappointed too Tommy.  I thought it might be worth while to pay $10 to go see if I could ask a serious question followed by an oblique question that might make a point.

I am also wondering if the heat in the kitchen was too much with Orly Taitz blasting the CCP investigation because they have not done anything with the result besides press releases.  Quite frankly, I am not sure there is much that could be done because as you note...it is just vapor or hot humid air.

@Flyer9753 by the way, i saw something on a joe arpaio ad that i have been asking questions about, see if you can find anything on it. in the "its time you met the real joe arpaio"  ad, they CLAIM that joe was kidnapped. the ad does NOT say it was approved by him. so i think its a big lie. if the flaccid failure was ever kidnapped, are you telling me this is the first we ever hear of it? even if it happened when he was 2 years old, he would have played it for all it was worth. i tried to research it and found nothing, see if you can find it. i have a feeling this is going to be like his book "i know nothing about it, those are not my words" yet his campaign spokesman was the one who said when it would come out on T.V. so they had to have reviewed it.

@Flyer9753 got it, thank you. (been using phone, so replies are difficult sometimes). how sad is though when you have to worry about recording, having witnesses and other things when dealing with a cop now a days? you dont even have to be doing anything wrong, but still have to worry what the outcome will be

While there is a good chance that will happen here, I hope not and still support the changes that were made that will allow it, now we need to make the rest of the needed changes to make our voting system work the way it is supposed to work

@Flyer9753 with a split vote, he will take it again. but i do believe this will be his hardest fight yet because of what has been happening.

Not really, it's smart politics to hold onto things and release them as you get closer to the election.

Repetition breeds reputation - keep the name in front of the voter as much as possible and as long as possible.

Use the second moniker of advertising, which is what this is, and you combine that with 'keep it fresh/updated/new to keep people coming back to see what's next' - and you have a smart political manager who is looking long term.

It sucks, but you have to admit it is smart politics.

I suspect he is a little worried this election since he has gotten a LOT of bad press over the past few years, as well as having a lot of possible problems hanging over his head and the fact that in each of his last elections his numbers have dropped lower and lower, as well as in the polls.

Hopefully he is soiling his depends over it.

@Flyer9753 but are you gonna honestly tell me a sensational news grabbing story like that wouldnt have been brought up before this???    last ditch effort to sway public opinion. when i was in school there was a play, called the little chief or something like that, where they kidnap a kid and before the day is over, they pay the parents to take him back...............see the correlation in stories yet?

Flyer9753
Flyer9753 topcommenter

 @danzigsdaddy

I re-listened to it and it is clearly attached to his time in the DEA.

Sounds like quite a reach to me since in any undercover work that would technically happen at some point in time, but to call what happens in the course of undercover work 'kidnapping' is a sensationalist reach.

Which is really no surprise, this is Joe Arpaio we are talking about after all

@Flyer9753 as you said........WOW??????  somebody has a fertile imagination right?

Flyer9753
Flyer9753 topcommenter

@danzigsdaddy interesting - there in about the first 30 seconds of it I heard it, right after the him being shot at.....

That's an odd one unless he is claiming it as somehow happening during his war service or DEA work when he brought down the French Connection single handedly - unknown of course to the agents who are listed as actually having worked those cases.

New to me though, I will see what I can dig up - thanks for the heads up :)

WOW! lol :)

Off the top of my head, I have never heard anything about that and I know Joe's career and history pretty well, but I will see if I can find anything.

Would not surprise me at all if it's the start of yet another story to bolster his career and keep the tea-tard blue hairs entertained. Kinda like his story about having arrested Elvis....

Thanks for the info :)

:) No worries

You are very right though, that is the really sad part. It used to be that police were supposed to be the people you automatically trust and a lot of cops today still are those cops, but the 'bad apples' among them have ruined that.

As a former LEO I think it's because in the past, LEO's themselves thought it was their job to help people, using the law as a tool to accomplish that, whereas now most LEO's think their job is to enforce the law first and help people second.

That being said, with all the laws on the books today, it's almost impossible to _not_ break the law unintentionally in the course of everyday life, thus giving LEO's that will abuse the system the excuse/justification to do so.
