Sheriff Joe Arpaio
The U.S. Attorney's Office announced on Friday evening on that charges would not be filed against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio or former County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

The list of Arpaio's dirty deeds goes on and on (and on, and on), but the U.S. Attorney's Office apparently is claiming that there was no criminal behavior to be found.

The feds are even avoiding questions about the investigation, as the Feathered Bastard got an auto-reply response from the U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman saying he'll immediately respond to any questions --that aren't related to the Arpaio investigation.

We're not sure whether this whole thing is mind-boggling, depressing, or just downright embarrassing, but is it safe to say the feds screwed the pooch on this one?

No they were right to dismiss but they did screw the pooch when they dismissed charges against Mary Rose Wilcox.  Let me hear you cry about that dismissal too.

@JoeArpaioFan what we are crying about is that because of Arpaio, we have to pay her $975,000. if Arpaio wasnt out pulling his power trip we wouldnt even have to deal with the financial repercussions of him. and the only people crying about that dismissal are the arpaio fans. they cant stand it when his trumped up charges fall through, and they cant stand it when he has to answer for it either. i think holder should be on the ropes for fast and furious. i believe obama should be on the ropes for obamacare, and so by all rights arpaio should be on the ropes for mismanaging over $99 million and over 400 ignored sex crimes. at least the PPD has had people answering for the cases the botched. people have lost their jobs over it, holder should lose his, so why shouldnt arpaio? if you want fair play on holder and obama, you should support fair play against arpaio screw ups.

This was nothing but a brief media event at best -  The Arizona DOJ is in shambles...gun running, illegal wiretaps, FBI scandal (google Ryan Seese, Joe Gordwin) ATF Black Biscuit (the cases collapsed) Deniss Burke...  Really?  Does anyone think a Phoenix jury would convict Joe?

I am not promoting the guy...I think he has worn out the office with his activism....but the DOJ will take 10 years to regain some sliver of credibility in this town!

Ready to stop begging politicians to turn the tide in AZ?  Ready to admit that the Democrats and the "left" in AZ have failed miserably?http://www.facebook.com/events/190632644404018/

@bravecomrade In the 30 years I have lived here, the republicons have been in almost total control in this state so if anybody has 'failed miserably," it's the "leaders" with the R party designation.

they dropped the financial misconduct because Joe himself did not profit from the issue, also the county covered the mismanaged $99 million with creative bookkeeping (by their own admission and their own words). they dropped the abuse of power (even though there was a ruling already out there finding he and thomas did go after people critical of them), so that one makes no sense at all. but they still have 3 more charges, and the individual suits themselves (no date set yet on the ignored El Mirage sex crimes so far). so if there is a method to their madness... i dont see it

@danzigsdaddy ". . . they still have 3 more charges"  What charges do they still have?  Are they criminal?  BTW - I agree with the tactic of dropping the criminal charges.  Because Apaio had his people running shredders 24-7 there is little real factual evidence left.  AND If the Justice Dept did bring criminal charges and fail, on even one charge, bringing Arpaio to justice would not happen.  it will mean the end of all attempts, both civil and criminal, and Arpaio's supporters would be emboldened even more!  Because no charges were made yet, that whole investigation is still intact and the information can be used in the civil case.  You need to understand the basics of the legal system to get this.

@ExpertShot and  i do agree that they had to drop the ones they did, because if they couldnt slam dunk those they would affect or cause the dismissal of the others. and as for your comment of them shredding documents 24/7......i also agree. they have been doing that for years on many of their internal investigation. thank you for bringing that one back up, i forgot about that

@ExpertShot they still are looking at the racial profiling charges, the civil rights of hispanic inmate charges and the uninvestigated el mirage sex crimes charges. these are all still in the accusation/ investigation stages though.

where they screwed the pooch was even thinking their little witch hunt would ever be successful. the vendetta against this state is getting old.
