After two consecutive heartbreaking losses, the Arizona Diamondbacks were the ones doing the heartbreaking on Tuesday night by beating the San Francisco Giants in 8-6 in 11 innings.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak and barely kept the D-backs' postseason hopes alive.

With the score deadlocked at 6 in the 11th inning, Aaron Hill opened with a single for his fifth hit of the game. Jason Kubel then broke the tie with a triple. He came home on a Miguel Montero single. Josh Collmenter shut the door in the bottom of the 11th inning for his fourth win of the year.

The win moved the D-backs to within 10.5 games of the first-place Giants in the National League West. The two teams play each other seven more times in the D-backs' remaining 25 games, and the D-backs essentially will have to win them all for a shot at the playoffs. The D-backs also still have a remote chance of grabbing one of the two National League wild card spots, but they trail by 7.5 games in that race.

The Giants and D-backs will wrap up their three-game series tonight at AT&T Park at 7:15 p.m. Trevor Cahill (9-11) will take the mound against Madison Bumgarner (14-9). TV: Fox Sports Arizona. Radio: KTAR 620 AM. More info: www.dbacks.com.
