Should Stealing From a Child With Cancer Be a More Serious Crime Than Shoplifting?

Last week, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office caught the two guys who allegedly stole donation jars meant for a 7-year-old girl who has cancer.

It doesn't come as a surprise, but Anthony Stuber and Peter Cardinale will be facing simple shoplifting charges.

A PCSO spokesman said the guys who went into San Tan Valley Walgreens stores and stole donation jars intended for 7-year-old Dakota Clark, who has Burkitt's Lymphoma. Dakota's family used that money specifically for food.

Aside from possibly qualifying for a seat next to Satan's office, their charge isn't any different from any other shoplifter's.

Should it be?

pinal county is really penal county.

they will throw you in jail for having a joint,but let bigger crimes go with easy charges.

we have a lazy law enforcement mentality(unless you are brown or vote democrat)

Yes it is.  They should be taken out and lynched from the tallest tree.

the law says it has to be over $300 to be a felony, but since its money for treatment that is lifesaving, I think it should carry a stiffer sentence. I am not to sure, but since it was more than one jar containing a couple hundred bucks each for the same girl, shouldnt it be counted as a total instead of 2 different crimes? or are they doing that?

They did not steal merchandise from a store. They stole money from a donation jar. That is theft.

 @danzigsdaddy If you steal $100 on Monday for Store #1, $100 on Tuesday from Store #2 and $101 from Store #3 on Wednesday that is 3 separate crimes and none of them are for more than $300.

You don't add up all the amounts stolen over the past 6 months to see if the $300 threshold is met.

 @danzigsdaddy But when you consider the total amount of the thefts it is more than $300 I am sure so that my friend is a felony.

 @JoeArpaioFan  @danzigsdaddy JoeFlan,

You don't add up the amounts from multiple separate crimes to get over the $300 threshold.  Please self-deport yourself and give your spot in America to someone who isn't so stupid.
