Rachel Alexander Sells Stuff, Heads to Seattle; Still Appealing AZ Law-License Suspension

Disgraced lawyer Rachel Alexander has put her stuff up for sale and left the state -- to take care of her ill mom in Seattle, she says.

Rachel Alexander has put her major appliances up for sale and apparently moved to Seattle, but is still appealing the suspension of her law license in Arizona.

The conservative blogger and disgraced lawyer seemed to have blown her chance at the appeal back in June after failing to turn in her opening brief on time. But William O'Neil, state Supreme Court Disciplinary Judge, gave her a second chance a few days later and allowed her appeal to move forward.

Alexander was ordered in April to be suspended for her role in the same, unethical actions against local judges, lawyers and county leaders that resulted in the disbarment of her then-boss, former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas. Former prosecutor Lisa Aubuchon was also disbarred. Aubuchon's appealing, but Thomas isn't -- he carries around a big stick of wood these days and pretends he's a movie character.

You can read the brief that Alexander subsequently turned in on July 6 on the state Supreme Court's Web site. It shows that one of her main tactics now is to blame her bad decisions on her superiors, namely Thomas and Peter Spaw, the latter of whom escaped scrutiny in the debacle initially but is now being investigated.

"Throughout this matter Alexander learned that significant information was kept from her, that people she trusted she should not have, and that lawyers she relied on for advice and guidance failed her," she wrote in the brief.

Trouble is, the "just following orders" defense doesn't work when you're a lawyer and responsible for your own ethics. Alexander worked on the racketeering case cooked up by Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Thomas without recognizing its serious deficiencies that were obvious to many at the time, like New Times' Sarah Fenske. Spaw may be culpable, too, but that won't absolve Alexander.

A few weeks after penning her brief, Alexander's Facebook site shows, the blogger put her refrigerator, washer and dryer up for sale and drove to Washington. Someone asked if she's moving there, and she replied, "Gonna go take care of my ill mom!"

Joan Stewart-Ponath
, Alexander's friend, answered the phone when we called the Alexander Bankruptcy Law Firm this afternoon, saying she could "neither confirm nor deny" whether Alexander has moved from the Valley. Whether or not the bankruptcy firm is still open is a moot question.

Alexander, the only lawyer for her firm, can't take on any new clients during her appeal. That's meant "no income" to the business since mid-June, her brief states. Yet the law business she runs with her fiance was the sole source of income for his four children, she wrote.

With all due respect to Alexander's reportedly ill mom, we can't help but wonder if Alexander will be helping her mom -- or her mom will be taking care of her.

Be nice if you guys went after Obama like this. Maybe then we'd have a President who actually cares whether this country makes it or not.

I wonder if she realizes that grunge is out in Seattle too.....

Masked Magician, aren't you the psycho ex-client of Lisa Aubuchon's who spends all day trolling the comments on Sonoran Alliance? And if I remember correctly, you've never even MET Rachel Alexander. Can you explain the infatuation with her? You sound like a jilted ex-boyfriend.

I find it a bit suspicious that Rachel bolted from Arizona to Washington state after filing her bullshit appeals brief to the Arizona Supreme Court.

Rachel blames Peter Spaw for her own actions when Spaw was the one who told Rachel that the bullshit RICO lawsuit did not allege not one claim of racketeering. Even Barnett Lotstein told Candy Andy Thomas that one.

Now Rachel, I know you think I look like Jim Morrison, the Doors legendary singer. Rest assured, I am NOT Jim Morrison.

Speaking of, when will you be ready for our date? I washed, waxed, shampooed and conditioned my car and I'm still waiting on you....

Hey Rachel:  Are your law books for sale, too?  Judging from your performance as a "lawyer" they weren't used much.  I could use some firewood for the winter.  If you haven't already donated them to the Cold Case Posse, would you like to sell them?  You can even throw in your law diploma as a fire starter.  I'll offer to trade you - law books for a colon cleanse.  You'd get a lot more value from the colon cleanse.

lol may the door not smack her on the ass on her way out, instead may she crawl away from AZ like the snake she is... slowly, miserably and in the dark.

Good riddance.  You should have taken the nut Lisa with you.

I  bet her washer and dryer were paid for with RICO funds.  She seemed to get off on the RICo lawsuit, and now blames Thomas and Spaw for the screw up.  I'd be afraid to purchase a major appliance from her - afraid I'd be accused of dealing in stolen property.  And..on another note...do you suppose she's getting out of town after blaming Spaw and Thomas?

I am the mother of Rachel Alexander, and I am quite ill. Rachel has come back here to help me for now. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful, kind, unselfish and caring daughter, I am very proud of her.  I don't know the person you describe in your articles who you call Rachel Alexander. None of her family and friends know who you're talking about. You've merely made a caricature of the true Rachel Alexander.

@Tigger No. I retained Lisa Aubuchon (unfortunately) to help me determine whether a contract had been breached.

I don't read or care for Sonoran Alliance.

And I am not a jilted ex-boyfriend of Rachel Alexander (thank God).

@SleeplessinSeattle Wow, you know very little about the legal profession. Lawyers haven't used "law books" since the 80's. Everything is digital now. Welcome to the 21st century!

@ssalexanders Rachel has friends? Who knew?

The true Rachel Alexander is a person filled with evil and hate. Just like Adolf Hitler.

Her defense that she was following orders like a good storm trooper is just bullshit. She knew full well what she was doing when she filed that bullshit RICO lawsuit.

Rachel could've stopped the abuse of power being perpetrated against Maricopa County taxpayers by simply using her voice and saying "no" but instead she chose to be part of the abuse.

Had Rachel stood up for the taxpayers of this county and stopped the abuse of power emanating from the MCSO and MCAO, she might be held in a more favorable light with me. But she didn't.

Rachel has the ability to be a good lawyer. She needs to stop taking Candy Andy Thomas' delusions seriously and concentrate on being an ethical and honest attorney. She needs to remedy serious deficiencies and become competent and trustworthy.

If and when Rachel actually does this, then maybe I will have something more positive to say about her. Until then seeing her image makes me reach for my 100 proof vodka.

@ssalexanders The Rachel Alexander in the article is a disgraced, disbarred attorney.  Is that something to be proud of?

@ssalexanders Why did you never teach her to wash her hair?  Are aren't you also her boyfriend in drag?

@ssalexanders no offense mam, but your daughter is the only one to blame for the negative opinion of her...

@ssalexandersTo the "mother" of Rachel Alexander:  if you are so ill, why are you reading and blogging?  I'm glad you are proud of your daughter...most mothers are.  But with all due respect, none of Ted Bundy's co-workers or family knew the real Ted Bundy, either.  Not until he was finally brought to justice - and even then his supporters continued to  believe in him.

Nobody said Rachel Alexander was a mass murderer.  But she doesn't deserve a law license.  Perhaps a CNA?  Maybe she can hone her skills as a caregiver and find something she's really good at.

@MaskedMagician1967 ok, I agree somewhat, at least snakes have a purpose, that is to remove all the vermin.. (like the roof rats that plague PHX as an example)

@marcy  @ssalexanders She was not disbarred, according to the article. She was only suspended. Unless you have factual proof to back up your remark, you realize that this is libel, yes? Even disgraced lawyers can still sue, and given her job prospects for the moment, she would have quite the incentive to come after people like you who libel her.

@OnlyInArizona  @ssalexanders So ill people can't read or blog? Is this something new under Obamacare? I admit, with 27 million pages in the actual law, I haven't taken it upon myself to read the whole thing, but you'd think someone would have reported on such a thing by now. Of course, the other option is you're just a fool. I'm kinda leaning towards the latter option..
