Paul Babeu's Babeuisms
A blurb posted on Facebook by Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu treats us to an oldie-but-goodie phrase right out of his Book of Babeuisms -- y'know, those phrases he's repeated over and over and over since he arrived on Arizona's political scene.

The FB message, in which Babeu strokes himself and his department over a drug-bust award, included a predictable dig against President Barack Obama's administration. He says such drug busts are "what we call clues in law enforcement [that] the border is NOT more secure than ever, as Janet Napolitano suggests!"

"Clues in law enforcement" -- that's one of Babeu's favorite sayings, and it is No. 5 in this installment of our favorite Top Five Babeuisms.

Any deputies/voters that support this freak Babeu should have a bumper sticker on their car ..."I'm A Sheriff Studboi Stud !" .

I figured it out: The reason that Paul Babeu was only in his Underwear!

Liar, Liar pants on fire!

He has told so many lies that is all he had to wear at the time.

Biggest Lie: We smashed the Sinaloa Drug Cartel !

Someone needs to go to Mexico and inform them that they have been smashed. Because they are doing business as usual.

From what I can tell, as a retired law enforcement professional, Mr. Babeu hasn't a 'clue' what law enforcement is about. His only goal seems to be self aggrandizement through his position as an elected official, once again.

The folks in Pinal County deserve better for their tax dollars.

I hope they realize it and don't repeat the mistake that voters in Maricopa County have made for so many years.

You DON'T want a shurf called, "Joe Paul Babeu".

Ms. Alonzo,

Could you create a list of the MCSO shurf's Arpaioisms?

I have quite a few...

1) "I don't recall."

2) "I was confused then and I'm confused now."

3) "It's all Hendy's fault."

4) "I arrested Elvis Presley in 1955."

5) "I don't racially profile."

Ms. S. D-Purper, in an earlier realm you had ample opportunity to cover newsworthy somethings about your sheriff friend Babeu. Those that were favorable, you did, and well. You didn't report objectively and chose to protect and buffer Babeu as his misdeeds and strange comments began to be noticed. It was your choice to make but you did let down several Pinal communities that didn't need spoon-fed Babeu material. They deserved better. They are getting it now.

Something newsworthy? There is a source stated here for each statement Babeu made. He said these goofy or awkward things repeatedly. Why did Babeu not take his many hours in the local and nation media spotlight and talk about "something newsworthy?"  His time was spent mostly projecting himself. On our time.

How about the time Babeu (commenting on the Obama and Prof. Gates incident) stated on a national show that "Obama kicked us [law enforcement] in the Ding Dong."  Ding dong? Tra la la ... never mind.

I think what Ms. Alonzo was trying to get across was Babeuisms. This is an opinion piece which is difference from a news article. As a (freelance) journalist, you know that.

Back to your question, when has Paul Babeu ever stated something that was newsworthy and not being pushed politically?  Over 70 appearances on Fox New nationally? What was that about?

This campaign season he rarely mentions immigration or the border issues. Where did they go? Are they not something newsworthy anymore? I can't believe anyone took the time to actual write about him on all of those shows. It was not about him running his office. The appearances were often nothing more than him running for office. Big difference.

I know BooBoo is a personal friend of yours. That is a choice you are entitled to. The "anyone" you refer to here is a credentialed writer. I am sorry you haven't found something newsworthy in her interesting blogs since her February 17 introduction of Mr. Orozco. Looking back in those six months, there have been several good, fact based (but perhaps uncomfortable for you and Paul) blogs written by Ms. Alonzo about Mr. Babeu.

I seriously cannot believe anyone would take all of this time to actually write this. PLEASE go cover something newsworthy?

Babeu's deputies don't want him to be calling them studs anymore.  I wonder why?

I'm just wondering if anyone thinks this guy has a chance to win his office again.  I would think his running is nothing more than a waste of time.  but I thought that about Joe as well.

We can now truly understand why Babeu appreciates those 'studs' who work for him, and, oh yeh, the women too.

I have to wonder how many of the male deputies the PCSO shurf has hit on? Kinda scary to think of.

What a harvest!

"Performance and Results!"  Two more campaign cries that Babeu is making at every stop.

Well, here we see his PERFORMANCE pretty well documented. Nice to have actual quotes from his statements as he has been on the campaign trail and national media stage doing his "performing."

These are not claims from his opponents. Ms. Alonzo didn't make these up. These are HIS WORDS IN CONTEXT. Are you wondering what he was talking about when he said some of these things? Ask him! He said them.

The RESULTS part comes on Primary voting day, when real Americans in Pinal County can have their say about the end of the sheriff career for this un-real (more like unbelievable) American. He disgraced his National Guard uniform and he is disgracing his sheriff's uniform.

What a collection of stateman-like phrases that come from the man who wanted to be in Congress.  Sadly, not the only thing he has wanted to be in.

Why does anyone post February even want to listen to this complete bag of douche.  Once his lifestyle came out and and he was proven a liar for so many years, why would any news media outlet still want to interview him?

@sdpurper    Ms Deprey-Purper, spare us your bad impersonation of a defender of journalistic standards.  You ran GoldCanyonToady.com and San Tan Valley Toady News like volunteer auxiliaries to Babeu's PR machine, for God's sake -- vacuous, chirpy blights on the civic culture of  Pinal Co.

You can't really object to quoting Babeu's own words, having spent four abject years as his virtual stenographer.  Is there something about these particular words that offends your refined journalistic sensibilities?  Is his regular stump speech, the hundreds of radio & TV interviews, the practiced histrionics for the benefit of backwater Republic women's clubs, is all that just too trifling to merit the press's attention?  Or is it that in the cold light of day he embarrasses you?  He should.

Readers of your websites could have scoured everything you ever posted about Babeu -- thousands upon thousands of word -- without learning a single thing about these regular, rehearsed features of his oratory.  You saw to that because an it best served his political interests.  It, and you, had nothing to do with journalism.

@jeanjb The Bald Bunion hails from North Adams, MA and the MCSO shurf is from Springfield, MA. Both are embarrassments to the Bay State, according to sources I have in both cities.

@DPSnAZ there are a few others out there that also disgrace AZ LE. There is a retired nitwit in BCC that seems to support my view of how most AZ LE people have their heads up their behinds when it comes to being decent people. I am not saying ALL I am saying most. I have met a few nice YCSO officers. I have also met some nice DPS officers as well. But by in far most of my experiences with AZ LE is to stay out of their radar or else they will be asshats to you.

@bigkahuna33 it's as if they don't/can't realize how they actually sound outside their own echo chamber.  the more they speak in public the stupider they sound..   whats her name Angle would only answer pre posed questions etc.

@sdpurper I didn't know your relationship with Babeu and Chase was considered funny.  Cringe worthy, but not funny.

Isn't Wisconsin calling you back?

@Kit_Quemada You are quite right about SDP.  She's hiding a BIG secret involving a trip to Las Vegas with a certain person.  In fact, it might not be a very big secret to those in the know in San Tan Valley.

SDP, along with Joe Carrero (internet radio owner) are assisting the bald bunyon in trying to consolidate power in Pinal County.  You know they don't care anything about separation of power.  I have been going out in my neighborhood warning my neighbors of the consequences if Cheryl C. is elected.  So far, I have them convinced that she is not the right candidate for our district.

I would like Monica Alonzo to ask a tough question of the Sheriff's Department-Why is Gaffeney allowed to take nearly a month off to help his boss with his campaign, while we the taxpayers pay his salary.

@Lone-WolfI heard recently that Babeu may have filed a petition with the court to have his name changed to Ben Dover Biich. Not sure why he would want that name.

@ptcgaz I got a speeding ticket in Mesa and the cop was fairly nice to me. I have never had interaction with the MCSO and I don't want to.
