Michael Salman's not drawing many arguments with that shirt.
Believe it or not, ex-gang member/Pastor Michael Salman is accused of stealing and lying, as well as ripping off taxpayers and the needy.

Attorney General Tom Horne just announced that a state grand jury indicted Salman, his wife, and his brother for defrauding AHCCCS -- the state's Medicaid program -- of more than $118,000.

New Times has been writing about Salman fairly extensively since 2008, as Salman's urge to build a church in his backyard drew the ire of his neighbors. In recent days, it's become pretty apparent that Salman has avoided truth-telling as he's tried to pull the wool over the public's eyes with his tales of "religious persecution."

There's nothing holy about allegedly lying and stealing from the taxpayers, though.

According to Horne, Salman's accused of lying about his household income on applications for AHCCCS benefits, and lied in a statement to the state Department of Economic Security.

Salman's wife Suzanne Salman, and his brother Frank Salman, are also accused of lying on applications.

Due to those alleged lies, AHCCCS paid out $73,000 for medical coverage for Salman, his wife, and his children. AHCCCS paid out $45,000 for Frank Salman and his children.

The grand jury indicted Salman on one count of fraudulent schemes and artifices, one count of theft, three counts of forgery, and one count of perjury -- all felonies.

His wife and brother face similar charges.

"It is unacceptable for anyone who does not legitimately need AHCCCS assistance to devise this kind of scheme that ultimately rips off taxpayers and depletes badly-needed resources for the truly needy," Horne says in a statement. "My office is determined to root out and bring to justice anyone who perpetrates fraud on the State and its taxpayers."

Salman has served about 50 days of his 60-day jail sentence in Tent City after being found guilty of 67 misdemeanors related to an illegal building he constructed in his backyard, and his unwillingness to comply with the City of Phoenix's zoning rules.

Salman previously served nearly six years in prison for a drive-by shooting -- where he was caught with LSD -- and was also booked into jail once for impersonating a police officer. It's entirely likely that he'll also get more jail time for violating his probation and not paying more than $10,000 in fines.

But according to Fox News and others, Salman's just another persecuted Christian.

This guy's mistake was in not getting the first step of his plan in place - that is "being and becoming the pastor of a supposedly respectful religion"...

I mean, you first have to dupe the people in that regard, before you can move on to the more blatant lies, cheating, and stealing. Then you have to hold things going a few hundred years, then you can move on to wars, politics, and rape, much like certain other large-scale religious rip-offs.

Then again, people in general are stupid and gullible - if they weren't, then organizations like the CoS and the LDS, which were formed inside of historical memory and can be easily investigated as to their supposed claims, wouldn't be as successful as they have been.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have this thing called a "conscience" - otherwise I'd be wealthy by now, with the number of PTB suckers there are out there...

My husband and I, who have basically NO income can't get on AHCCCS because we don't have minor children, and this @$$hat thinks he can get away with this?  AAARRRGGGHHH!

Sweet justice. So much for the sweet, innocent pastor just trying to read the bible quietly with his children. This jerk's only reason for living is to steal, cheat and lie.

KIds, the lesson we can all take from this is that you should make sure you have your affairs in order before you nail yourself up on that cross of self-martyrdom. Otherwise, it's pretty difficult to get down to cover your arse when your other bad deeds are discovered.

The T-shirt seems to be appropriate. I see a parallel happening in Maricopa County. The MCSO sheriff hides behind his elected position to victimize and it appears Salman hides behind his bible to victimize. Two outstanding citizens. Now, if we can just get them to be out standing by the tents, that would seem appropriate.

@pszymeczekYes I have always had problem with this.  Plenty of low wage parents in this right-to-work state whose kids get it but if mom or dad gets sick - they just get to die.  They are considered substandard humans cuz they couldn't score a job with benes - but across the nation states are following the vanguard, AZ, in lowering wages & benes or taking away altogether - we are not substandard, not "trailer trash," not "pond scum!"  We are all worthy human beings.  This is NOT the greatest nation, NOT the greatest healthcare - honestly I WOULD go elsewhere but my dollar is useless most places anymore and now that China has made it's own gold standard world currency - oooh la la . . rumors have abounded for decades about our own gold - from being tungsten bars to it having been bundled and resold many X like mortgages . . .

@mmmireleGood point. I think I recall something from the bible that goes like this, "Those who pray in glass churches should not throw stones at those who support their efforts".... or something like that.

The 'pastor' is a dumbass.

Mr. Hendley, thank you for sharing. Unfortunately the MCSO shurf is not yet in stripes in this photo. The picture will be complete when he is wearing the same stripes as those he has been instrumental in victimizing over the years.

@matt.hendley  @Tommy_Collins well of course those two would hang out, they are both criminals, and both do not like to be told what they can and cannot do and both ignore the laws thinking they can do as they please.

@pszymeczek  @matt.hendley  @Tommy_CollinsThe big guy in the light blue shirt is likely one of the "toughest" shurf's goons assigned to his security squad to protect him from those he uses for his personal benefit and gain.
