Scott Bundgaard's Police Report: Bundgaard Invoked Immunity

Scott Bundgaard resigned from the state Senate in January, but he just doesn't know when to quit.
The disgraced ex-lawmaker whines that he's the victim in a diatribe posted on the Sonoran Alliance blog over the weekend, on the heels of his $10 million notice of claim against the city of Phoenix for defamation and alleged corruption.
Bundgaard infamously got into a fight with his former girlfriend, Aubry Ballard, while driving home from a dancing competition in February of 2011. When police showed up at the scene, Bundgaard invoked legislative privilege and wasn't arrested.

In the excuse-ridden essay published yesterday, Bundgaard makes the tiresome and disproven claim that he never invoked his privilege.
He asserts that he's not only the victim of Ballard's abuse, but of "collusion, cover up and corruption by the City of Phoenix in order to wipe me out."

We can't help but wonder whether Bundgaard's defensiveness arises from his failure to find another girlfriend after this incident. So, for our morning poll, we'll put the question to you:

The police would never have known that Bundgaard was a legislator and that the Legislature was in session unless and until Bundgaard invoked his legislative immunity, which he did. Bundgaard was a coward for claiming immunity so that he wouldn't go to jail. But what makes it worse was that his ex was hauled off to the Old Fool's jails despite her not doing anything wrong except attempting to defend herself from Bundgaard's physical assaults on AZ51, something she is allowed to do under ARS 13-404. Personally, I am glad Bundgaard isn't a legislator anymore. The people deserve elected leaders with ethics, a 6 letter word that is sorely lacking in Arizona.

He would've weaseled his way out of it. And I don't drink and drive. Trust me I learned a very painful lesson about 10 years ago when I was forced to ride with a drunk driver...the car hit a tree head-on at 65 mph after the driver passed out behind the wheel. My right knee still hurts to this very day as a result of it slamming into the glove box of the car. The driver suffered a concussion, a black eye and a minor cut that required about 6 stitches.

I don't have to go into the Air Force. I still have the option open and available to me and if I want to take it I will. Until then, if you want to go out on that date, I suggest you take a shower and wash your greasy, oily hair.

The cops can't do a blood draw of a legislator who is in session, that would require that the cops detain the legislator and that generally isn't permitted.

His legislative immunity make it impossible to perform either a field sobriety test or a BAC test. That leaves the cops with nothing more than observations and since none of them saw him driving they wouldn't be able to say his driving was impaired. That's how DUI Jan got off as well.  She was sauced but they couldn't take a measurement.

It's an expression that you should learn to do without honey.

Um, cops can draw your blood at the scene of an accident without giving you a ticket. And though you never get a ticket, you can still be prosecuted for DUI. It's just the laws the rest of us have to live with don't apply to well-connected drunks.

If you were a good soldier, getting into the air force would be a cinch. You obviously have problems.

You're already a reject Rachel. I just said I'd consider going out on a date with you if you showered and washed your hair. BTW I was already in the Army.
