Jan Brewer's Most Embarrassing Moments of 2012 (So Far...)

It ain't no party about off-the-wall statements by Arizona politicians unless Governor Jan's invited.

Last week we took a look at some of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's most puzzling moments of 2012 (so far).

Given the infamous embarrassing moments the Guv has did have -- such as the brain-fart of the century -- let's recap the best so far in 2012:

5. Brewer Tries to Get More People to Like Her

brewer_book_cover.jpg

Not only did Jan Brewer take to social media to solicit votes for Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People list, but she did so a tad bit late. On April 6, 2012 she sent out a notice on Facebook asking people to vote for her to be included on the list. Brewer said voting for her would help push back against the liberal media, which she claims levied a barrage of attacks against her for being included in Time's s pool of nominees. Unfortunately, the last day to cast votes for the polls was April 6, 2012, and she missed the cut.

One of the dumbest treestumps to ever suck air.. her existence as a lawmaker and leader is fucking depressing..

That's ok.  I would much rather have Mr. Brewer than anyone out there.  Thank you Governor Brewer for defending the American People.

I will preface my comments with I Love You All, because love is the only thing that will fix the mess this country is in.  If you are embarrassed to live in Az, move to CA; this is the 3rd term of BO in action.  People like Jan Brewer and Joe Arpaio are American heros.  When there is no more "other people's money"  and the 47% aren't getting their free stuff anymore and BO opens the borders to insure perpetual democrat rule, we will see how your tune changes.  blah blah blah; you got it right.  God bless us all.  God help us all.  The system is broken, and I am afraid the fix will not be pretty.

Jan Screwer, so proud of Arizona. Arizona, 1st in high school dropouts, 1st in teen pregnancy, 1st in ID theft, 1st in car theft, 1st in foreclosures, last in teacher pay, last in school performance, last in social services, last in Unemployment benefit rate, last in doctor/patient ratio, 1st in good ol' boy legislature dynasties, 1st in embarrassing governors and she's not the first, but probably is the worst and most embarrassing.  Why don't I move away? I came here to join my parents who retired here. I also have a right and responsibility to stay here and bitch about what's wrong with this POS state and fight for changes.

We need a new list... top TRAGIC events of Jan Brewer:  child hunger, only state NOT to have KidsCare, killing patients waiting for transplants, loosening gun restrictions after a mass murder in Tucson, reinstating Chucj "Lyin" Ryan and keeping him there even after inmates escape and kill innocent civilians, cutting CPS worker then acting puzzled why there is an increase of tragic outcomes in child abuse cases, and promoting a bill that strips away state worker rights to allow political croneyism back into government. Awesome!

Jan Brewer IS a embarrassing moment.

The most embarrassing event not shown is the governor's leading our state to the worst level of child hunger (tied with Oregon) in the nation. I would love to see a photo of the 460,000 hungry children wagging their fingers in HER face!

Actually, I should have said I think about moving from the state of my birth. There was a time this state was a cool place to live, seriously, sigh....

Aznative818

Sometimes I wish I could move somewhere else, because Arizona has become the pimple on the arse of humanity, but I don't make enough, in this right to work state, to move. And then there is the problem of where the hell in these united states would I move? The teabaggers have infiltrated most every state in the union. How sad.

I feel your pain.  I just returned from the MidWest, right out of the blue, two different  people made comments and we weren't talking politics at all.  One was, "What's the deal with your governor out there?" and a similar, "What is wrong with your governor out there?".  They have all heard about her and think we are stupid.

Jans an idiot. I doubt she would score 90 on a standard IQ test. peace

blah blah blah

Same could be said for that nutbag Jerry Moonbat Brown of California...At least Jan is trying to curb illegal immigration. I know, that's a foreign concept to you. New Times looks pretty sad when it nothing else to write about except two citizens that simply want our borders protected.

Mr. Lewis, I commend you for having taken on such a monumental task. I think it's a bit like someone asking for the five prettiest of 99 exact clones of Halle Berry.  I can say this much for Mrs. Brewer, she is nationally known. I recently was in D.C. and an associate learned I live in Arizona. "What kind of nut is that old bag who acting as your governor?", she asked. "So you know about Mrs. Brewer, do you?". "Yes, she certainly makes the people of your state look like goons for voting for her". Nuff said.

The only good thing about the buffoons in this State is the endless things the New Times has to write about. It must be great to be a writer here. Brewer, Arpaio, Quayle, Pearce, Biggs, Gould, Allen, Kavanaugh, the Senile One, Franks, Bennett, Horne, Quartzsite.  What a great place.

@dbliss53 : You need a better education.  Joe abuses citizens' civil rights, which is unAmerican. That 47% statistic is bogus, therefore your believing it and repeating it is really ignorant.

@dbliss53 move back to CA or try another red state Jan Brewer and Joe are nazi/fascist party of NO (repugs) who want this country to become another Hitler rules country. They are no heroes they are the worse nazi/fascist people. god has nothing to do with this because there is no god never was and never will be.  The only way to fix the system is to get rid of all those ignorant repugs

Let's not be too harsh on leather, Sveny. Some of it can be smoothed and made to be very attractive. I don't see much hope for Mrs. Brewer, however. She is an old woman with the face of an older woman. The starched hair doesn't make her look any younger, no matter how she tries. I think the red, white, and blue clothing and accessories in the first photo makes her look very patriotic, however, without having to wear a flag like her friend, the disgraced former state senator. If someone were to need a brain exchange her's might be a viable option. It seems to have been pretty much unused for seventy or so years...

Tommy Collins

blah, shock to you. All immigration is foreign. I expected you might know that but I guess I expected too much. Conversely, Amigo, most of us who post on these cyber pages are very aware of the problems associated with illegal immigration and in many cases we are working toward a viable solution. Mrs. Brewer only took on the illegal immigration venue as a catalyst for gaining votes to be elected to her second (and last) term in office.

joelwisch2

@rhall528 @dbliss53 ...   You say that sort of thing and you couldn't dig up a supporting article on that if your life depended on it.  But something is clear to me: the thin blue line and Governor Brewer are the reason I can live in peace.

blair5
blair5

what problems with illegal immigration?  "they bring crime" is the biggest and loudest complaint, and it's not true. there are an estimated 500,000 undocumented immigrants in Arizona, and only 5,000 in Arizona prisons.  some will say that the former number is 7% of the population and the latter is 14% of the prison population, but that is to be expected since crime and poverty go together and the way we treat these people keeps them in the shadows and out of good jobs, creating a community of poverty where one doesn't need to exist.  SB 1070 was designed to fill private prisons with inmates that can be billed to the state, and to satisfy racists and nationalist and general nitwits, because apparently those folks vote in quantity around here...
