Juan Garcia, Alleged Kid-Killer, Turns Himself In to Authorities Near the Border

Juan Garcia -- who's accused of killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old son in February -- turned himself in to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents near the border crossing in Lukeville on Friday, the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed.

Garcia, 18, has been wanted by Phoenix police since going on the run after allegedly beating 2-year-old Jorge Zamora-Rogel to death on February 24.

The boy's mother, 18-year-old Wendy Rogel-Pagasa, was arrested for allegedly waiting for more than three hours after the boy went unconscious to call 9-1-1.

According to court documents previously obtained by New Times, Rogel-Pagasa and her son were at home that night when Garcia showed up with some food.

After Garcia's girlfriend informed him that her son wouldn't be eating any of the food he brought over, Garcia went to the boy's bedroom and attempted to pull him out of the room by his ear.

When the boy began to cry, police say Garcia picked the boy up by the throat and began slamming his head into the bedroom wall. Garcia then began slamming the boy's head against the ground, beating the kid unconscious before Rogel-Pagasa intervened, according to court documents.

When Rogel-Pagasa did try to get involved, police say he whipped her with an electrical cord and choked her.

Garcia attempted to wake the boy up -- by hitting him more, lifting him up by his ankle, bending his fingers back, and slapping him face -- but the boy remained unconscious, according to police, and Garcia just left.

Rogel-Pagasa also tried to wake the boy up, telling police she cleaned the "bloody froth" coming out of his mouth several times.

Rogel-Pagasa told police her son's arms were spasming uncontrollably, and his erratic breathing was making a "rattling sound" -- which she recognized from "one of her dogs which died shortly after making this noise."

So sad the religious right is controlling people's thinking. I think this atrocity is just the tip of what will come with forcing unwanted children into the world.

I just can't believe this happened and the mom sat there and let it happened. If the boy did this to her son and then left why didn't she get help then. What the hell was she thinking...This is so sad a little boy has died so wrongly and it could have been prevented. I hope he doesn't have peace a day in his life and she shouldn't have any more kids if she can't protect the one she did have.

This made me physically ill. But unfortunately, the worst that is going to happen is life in prison, which after he joins a gang in there, will be not so bad. AS is the same story for a lot of vicious crimes that are committed against the innocent every day. Even more innocent people in the general public are effected by forcing us to pay higher taxes to keep this maniac alive in prison for another, what.... 70 years or so? What is the point? We need to start putting more sickos down. They're getting off way too easy.

Oh please let there be police brutality in this case that noone finds out about...then put his ass in with the general population...these sick fucks molest kids and murder them then get get segregated....and moms ass is just as guilty as her boyfriends..i have six kids i raise alone and i wont let a man disrespect my kids in anyway..a dumb ass made the mistake a few months after we started dating to call my then eight yr old son a queer..(bright classy guy i know) guess where he is....um hhmmm maybe he is where you guessed idk i told that punk ass. I dont abuse my kids and sure as hell wont let a man...dont know whats up with these girls because theres jobs we can do on top of school raising kids childsupport and vibraters....so they shouldnt need a man but want a man and never at the expense of your kids being abused verbally or physicaly....some moms suck....
