Jhessye Shockley, still missing.
The search of the landfill where police believe they may find the the body of missing 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley will end, but police don't yet know when.

Glendale police spokeswoman Tracy Breeden tells New Times that news outlets saying the search is ending in June are "drawing the wrong conclusions."

There's no set end date to the search, she says, and police believe the people searching for Jhessye could be out there through the month of June, and possibly several weeks longer.

Police believe Shockley's body was placed in a trash bin some time before she was reported missing on October 11, and her body was ultimately taken with the garbage to a landfill south of the Valley.

The search, which began on February 6, is focused on a 180-by-200-foot area of the 691-acre Butterfield Landfill in Mobile.

Bredeen says the search has covered about 75 percent of the targeted area at the landfill thus far, and while the search could continue through the month of June, variables in the weather, equipment, personnel, and other aspects could add weeks to the search.

In the second week of the search, documents were found dated around the time of Shockley's disappearance in October, but still no Jhessye.

According to court records obtained by New Times, two of Jhessye's siblings -- now in foster care -- told their foster parents about some of the abuse Jhessye received at the hands of her mother Jerice Hunter, who spent four years in a California prison for child abuse.

All of that alleged abuse happened weeks before Hunter called police on October 11.

The last time anyone saw Jhessye alive was September 22, which was the last time records show her attending school.

Her sisters said they never saw Jhessye the day her mother reported her missing, when Hunter told police that the older siblings were watching the girl as she ran errands.

On October 9, Hunter bought a bottle of bleach at a Walgreens. She then cleaned the entire apartment and scrubbed her shoes that were in the closet with Jhessye with bleach, the sister told police.

According to KPHO, Hunter's f---ing pregnant, again.

Hunter hasn't yet been charged.

I truly hope she is found.  Why do parents abuse their children! There is no excuse for child abuse and if a person seriously can not handle taking care of their children then they should ask for help.
I can't believe this lady is probably pregnant again.....

I pray that Jhessye is found.  She has to be found or Jerice may get away with murder.  No one believes this precious child is alive.  Her horrible Mother tortured her to death.  Grandma's bright idea to reunite her child abusing daughter with Jhessye (whom she didn't even know) was awful!  It cost a little girl her life.  This child deserved so much better.  It makes me sick to think about the abuse she endured prior to her death.  Her poor siblings will always remember their sister bloody in a closet dying!  Jhessye, please lead the investigators to where you are.....  Please do this so you can get the justice you deserve...

Well if the child is found and the mother gets arrested I know one attorney she for sure shouldn't call...
