Andrew Thomas, Lisa Aubuchon, and Rachel Alexander Disbarment Becomes Official on Thursday

Former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas sees himself as Thomas the Railroaded Ex-Prosecutor. As of Thursday, he no longer will hold an Arizona law license.
As of Thursday, Andrew Thomas, Lisa Aubuchon, and Rachel Alexander no longer will be able to practice law in Arizona.

A disciplinary panel of the Arizona Supreme Court ordered the trio's disbarment on April 10, and court officials stated that the order would become effective on May 10. The former Maricopa County Attorney and his two female accomplices were found to have abused their power as prosecutors during their fight with county supervisors, administrators, judges, and lawyers.

Thomas and Aubuchon committed perjury, filed charges they knew were outside the statute of limitations, framed a Superior Court judge with bogus criminal charges, and were dishonest, the panel stated in their findings. In working on a federal racketeering lawsuit, all three were found to have filed the lawsuit to embarrass or burden the defendants (which included the entire Board of Supervisors), had conflicts of interest, filed a frivolous lawsuit -- and did so incompetently, to boot.

Alexander, who avoided disbarment but is having her license suspended for six months and a day, continued to run her Alexander Bankruptcy Law Firm as the clock ran down.

We called over there today to find out whether the firm would be closing up shop later this week as its lawyer, Alexander, turns into a non-lawyer.

Brian Symes and Rachel Alexander

A guy named Brian, presumably her business development manager, Brian Symes, says "We're still staying in business, as far as I know."

Asked how that would work, unless the firm employs another lawyer, "Brian" asks us to call Alexander's lawyer, Scott Zwillinger. We haven't heard back yet from Zwillinger.

Perhaps if Alexander adds more Jesus-fish symbols on her website, her business may be saved by deus ex machina.

Lisa Aubuchon, who set up a one-woman law firm in Tempe after she got fired from her job in 2010, argued recently in her appeal motion that she has "active clients and obligations including pending trials."

No stay on the disbarment order has been announced, so her clients will need another lawyer ASAP, if they haven't already found one.

Jesus, I wish I still had a law license!

Thomas also opened a law firm in late 2010, but the link to his former website, www.andrewthomaslaw.com, is as dead as legal career.

Thomas is hard at work on a book about his troubles, and he'll need to make it a bestseller to help pay for a possible half-million-dollar bill for his own disbarment.

He decided not to appeal his disbarment, even though he could have handled the appeal himself -- just as Alexander is doing.

Maybe Thomas -- one of Harvard's least-favorite grads, we'd bet -- believes he's not as good a lawyer as Alexander. More likely, he's made a career decision to play martyr.

The dude Brian can do much better than a greasy, slimy, corrupt bitch like Rachel "I Use MCSO shurf hair grease for hairgel" Alexander. He needs to clean himself up and get some decent clothes.

Just seeing her ugly mug is gonna require me to go to the grocery store and pick up some Absolut Vodka and some orange juice.

I would never trust Alexander as far as I can throw her. And I think there's room in Aubuchon's federal prison cell for her.

Hey Rachel. I know a professional hair stylist/beautician. I may ask if I can schedule an appointment for you to meet with her. She'll need a hazmat suit, shampoo and conditioner, oh and some Noxzema for your zits. Then you can get your job as a stripper at Christies for all the drunk and horny Secret Service men. Provided you don't scare them all away.

Mr. Stern, the irony of all this is that many months ago many of us at this very site, and likely many others as well, tried to warn these three winkles that their day of disbarment was on the horizon.

But they all three knew law better than us commoners using common sense instead of Harvard law education (or similar institutes of advanced learning).

This truly is one of those very rare times when I take pleasure in saying, "I told you so" to those three dimwits who can no longer legally practice law in Arizona.

Pearce, of course, says, "I don't make law, I enforce it (SB-1070)". Which he also says he authored when in fact he sponsored the bill along with many others, and pushed it through the legislative process, thereby "making" law.

Andy likely said, "I make my own law and we WILL enforce it".

Joe likely said, "No one tells me who I can or can't arrest. If you make the law I will enforce it whether it's really a law or not". Such as that Federal law he was so proud of until he found out he had been duped by one of his subordinates into believing it existed.

Lisa likely said, "You are my boss and I will do whatever it takes to please you".

Rachel may have said, "I love writing about Andy and Joe and Lisa and anybody who is anybody and makes me feel loved and wanted".

Lori Klein may simply have said, "I have you in my sights. Stop opposing me or I WILL shoot".

How sweet the irony. How bitter the defeat.

One by one they fall, as if dominoes.

Maybe Rachel can learn from this and recover at least something of a career that is focused on law.  Being a good lawyer is more than being respected and supported (aka used) by the states most popular GOP officials.  Thomas and Aubuchon are so far gone that they should just go away.

I don't think that Alexander Bankruptcy Law Firm can keep her name in the registration once she is suspended.  Brian is the boyfriend and business partner as she has advertised.  I don't believe he is a lawyer, but he was rumored to be a conservative.  However, I am not sure if he is an intellectual conservative.

The karma train has arrived and Arizona is without one lawyer for 181 days (Rachel), while Candy and Lisa are without work for 1,825 days. All three will be required to undergo a close examination before they possibly ever regain there licenses to practice jurisprudence.

They now have no moral or legal obligation to Joe Assholeio. Andy is so self-serving that he won't testify. But Rachel and Lisa: they are probably being courted by the DOJ and deep in debt that may be, just may be, they'll turn on Sheriff Numbnut.

Karma is a beautiful deity.

Ray, Your caption is "misleading," and "deceiving," as well as the story being flooded with misspellings, e.g., "manger" and "cl6ients." I have never been a fan of Thomas, and am clueless as to Aubuchon, but I do find your caption here places Ms. Alexander's legal career under "false light."  Thank you for reminding me why I avoid reading New Times, as this publication is nothing more than a gossip tabloid that obviously lacks in quality reporting.

I hope the appropriate authorities file a lien against any profits Andy stands to make from his upcoming work of fiction.

What is Rachel doing posing with what appears to be a disheveled homeless man?

I feel bad about that. My apologies to anyone else I startled with that screw-up.

I'm missing something.  Today is May 7th.  The disbarment is effective May 10th.

"tomorrow" is May 8th, and not the 10th, so why does this story say it's effective "tomorrow"?

Not Surprised

Wouldn't it be nice if tomorrow were the last time we hear about these three?

Like you, Mr. Stern, sometimes I get so far ahead of myself I have to look in a mirror to see where I really am.

I had that question as well.  Maybe Mr. Stern can pipe in and let us know what we are missing.

Getting ahead of myself, I guess. It's may 10, but may 10 isn't tomorrow, as I should have realized. Ah, well, maybe the stay they are hoping for will come in next 3 days.
