Queerty Slams Gay Republican Group for Supporting Scandal-Ridden Paul Babeu's Congressional Campaign
In the fantasy world Republicans live in, a closeted sheriff accused of threatening to deport his Mexican ex-amigo if he spoke about the relationship doesn't make you a pariah--it's the stuff of heroism!
Buzzfeed reports that the Log Cabin Republicans of Arizona have decided to throw Paul Babeu, the scandal-plagued sheriff of Pinal County, a big fundraising party. Only $1,000 a ticket (no dinner, either)!
The Log Cabin Republicans are suggesting $1,000 donation from political-action committees, $500 for individuals, and $250 from young professionals.
Babeu certainly needs the financial boost since his campaign contributions have slowed to a trickle.
So Babeu is heading to Washington, D.C. in hopes of getting his hands on some Log Cabin Republicans' cash. Earlier this month, it was the Metroplex Republicans in Dallas hosting a fundraiser for the embattled sheriff.

As you would expect, the invite for the latest fundraiser is at the Washington, D.C. home of Log Cabin member and longtime Arizona GOP Congressman Jim Kolbe, skips over the scandals that have been dogging Babeu -- not the least of which is his remarkably poor judgement.
Alas, the invite includes a brief bio on Babeu and encourages people to step up and support his campaign for Arizona's Fourth Congressional District. Here's a snippet:
Simply by being who we are -- unapologetically pro-gay and unapologetically conservative -- Log Cabin Republicans like Sheriff Babeu are helping to secure the freedoms America stands for, and that's something we can all be proud of.
And then, from Queerty: "Proud of? This is the stuff of pride? Ugh. Vom."
