John McCain Earns a Daily Show Cameo for His Endorsement of President Obama... Er, Mitt Romney -- That's the Guy
Representatives of the "meth lab of democracy" are apparently comedy gold for The Daily Show, as U.S. Senator John McCain was featured in one of the show's segments earlier this week.
McCain's appearance was actually in the same episode as Michael Hicks, a Tucson Unified School District governing board member, who poorly/hilariously defended the school board's ban on the Mexican-American studies program.
The segment, as you can see above, is about how less-than-enthusiastic some Republicans have been in their endorsements of likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
One of McCain's endorsements of Romney in January was so enthusiastic that he actually endorsed President Obama, until Romney came over to let him know he had the wrong guy.
"I am confident with the leadership and the backing of the American people, President Obama will turn this country around," McCain said. "We believe in America, we believe that our best days of us. Presid.. excuse me -- President Romney, President Romney."
Less-than-stellar Romney endorsements by former President George H.W. Bush, Congressman Paul Ryan, Senator Marco Rubio, and former New York Governor George Pataki were also featured in the segment.
Still, McCain's accidental endorsement of President Obama is probably a lot more welcomed by the Romney camp than the heartfelt endorsement form ousted state Senate President Russell Pearce, who claimed Romney's immigration policy is "identical to mine."
McCain's endorsement is also probably better than that of his former campaign co-chair in the state, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, who's dealing with a few issues right now.
Regardless, enjoy the clip -- it probably won't be too long before another delegate from the Grand Canyon State hits Comedy Central.
