Dudley Chan Says He Plays Cop to "Get Respect," Police Respectfully Arrest Him

Dudley KwokTak Chan, not getting respect.
There's a Rodney Dangerfield joke in here somewhere, but Scottsdale police say Dudley KwokTak Chan was going around pretending he was a Chandler police officer to "get respect."

Getting "respect" for wearing a police badge is typically reserved for actual police officers, so that didn't work out too well for Chan.

According to Scottsdale police, Chan went into an Amtrust Bank on Shea Boulevard on Friday, asking for directions.

Chan apparently thought he'd get better directions if he had a gun on his hip and flashed his badge, informing the bank employees he was a Chandler cop.

Even the teller at the bank thought Chan's badge was fake, so there was a quick call to the real cops with a description of Chan's car.

Scottsdale police say officers conducted a traffic stop on Chan's car a couple miles from the bank, and say Chan actually tried to tell the real cops he was a Chandler police officer -- including a flashing of the phony badge.

As you can imagine, that didn't work out to well, and police say Chan admitted he wasn't a real cop after being taken into custody.

Scottsdale cops say Chan admitted he "shows the badge to 'get respect' when he deals with people."

After searching his car, police found two guns, which were kind of real guns -- police say they were "pellet type hand guns."

Chan was arrested for impersonating a police officer and driving on a suspended license.

Too bad real cops don't even get respect. This guy would have been better off, and would be awarded respect and the benefit of the doubt, if he was a wife-beating parole-violating alcoholic drug addict.

How stupid can you be? "Cops and robbers" is child's play, while impersonating a law officer is illegal. I guess they don't call you an Expert for nothing, eh WC?
