Did Supreme Court Arguments Change Your Mind About SB 1070 Surviving the Supreme Court?

supreme-court.jpg
SB 1070 got its (nth) day in court yesterday, with oral arguments being heard over the immigration law in the highest court of the land.

Check out Stephen Lemons' analysis on the fate of 1070.

The last time we polled our readers about what the Supreme Court would do with the law, nearly one-third said it would be upheld in part, half said it would go straight in the garbage, and less than 20 percent said SB 1070 as a whole will be the law of the land in Arizona.

Given the fact that we now know what grounds the law was argued on, let's try this one again.

What will the Supreme Court do with SB 1070?

Those Supreme Court Justices hate Mexicans! RACISTS!!!!

What a stupid platform from which to be arguing. Doesn't it sound silly? Ste(ph)en, Parraz and snow are choking on crow.

Mrs. Eleanor Hogwash, are you serious? This is the nut you stand with and empathize with?

What about my comment did you find offensive? I'm curious.

That was another issue that piqued my interest.  Why does this guy feel compelled to attack you for a comment that I make?  It struck me as an act of cowardice.

Sometimes I think it is only the fact that you say anything and then for some odd reason I get linked to you...... : )

Funny how that works......................

We are both different and we stand out that is the issue at hand is what I am beginning to believe.

Do you ever ask him why he says the things he says or do you just assume like most others that you have a clue what he means?

I think the majority of people don't read his posts with an open mind, maybe if you tried you might begin to have some sort of understanding about what he says and what he actually means.

Yps, how many people have told us to get a room now?

"Let's give them something to talk about. A little mystery to figure out."

Why do I find this funny???

See I wasn't even in on this conversation until my name got brought into it. I don't know it got brought into it......so of course I feel compelled to respond. It always gets taken to another level by somebody else.

I dont' appreciate anybody telling or encouraging me to have an affair with a married man. My husband cheated on me with my daughter in law....I don't go there.

As I said I make an effort to understand him....he needs change in leadership and he wants it. Others don't even make an effort to complain where Joe will see....at least he puts it out there.

LOL.....

I don't know Yps. He doesn't know me. We don't have private conversations.

I play it up because I get so tired of people always making some connection between us that doesn't exist.

I get where he is coming from because I have also been in that position. That is why I make an effort to understand him.

Other than that I try and be nice to most people. He has never been mean to me nor has he ever been disrespectful to me. I don't have the reasons for that. I don't care why either. I just be respectful of him and you and most others.

Btw....he's a married man.

To both Eleanor and YPS -

YPS - you make us work too hard to figure out what you truly mean.  I try not to shoot from the hip when responding to you, but you clearly have issues that most of us don't really understand.  Your posts are confusing.  Sometimes you agree, sometimes you don't, but no one really knows where you stand.

Eleanor, I have always appreciated your posts, but sometimes your defensiveness toward YPS gets a bit sappy.  You and YPS have private conversations that the rest of us are not privy to, and yet you think we should accept his comments in the same context you do, when we don't have a clue what he really thinks.  You know who he is and why he thinks or feels what he does.  The rest of us don't.  And he is rude to most people here.

I know that YPS is an MSCO employee.  I know he seems to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder.  I think he needs to mellow out and talk rationally to others, instead of his usual bombastic "attitude" which is really a turn off.

I would love to know what YPS really thinks.  He just keeps alienating others from his line of thought.  Eleanor, your constant pampering of YPS makes you look like a suck up, even though I don't think that is true.

Really, you two need to either talk straight up out here or get a room....  Sorry, I'm tired of the games the two of you play.

Unfortunately we have a 5-4 conservative court, with a swing voting single conservative, since the other liberal recused herself, we now have a 5-3 likely vote, but guess anything is possible a 4-4 might be a stalemate, not sure what a 4-4 vote would mean, but my best guess is partisan politics will rule the decison not the rule of constitutional law, it may take a few years to fix this unbalanced right wing court who stole a election for the right wing in 2000 and have no credibility as justices!

Maybe. But the Justices by federal law as sworn Judges, are not supposed to be influenced by politics and politics are not supposed to influence how they rule on Supreme Court cases. But I do know that most of them(Conservatives) rule based on their religious perceptions. And SB1070 has nothing to do with religion. But you do have a point there.
