The Goodyear teenager who brought a gun to school last year to kill his math teacher was sentenced today to two years in jail.

Izrahias Morales was 15 years old when he brought a the gun to school last February, and was charged as an adult by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

According to authorities, Morales brought a loaded, 9-millimeter handgun to Millennium High School in Goodyear on February 12, 2011, with the intention of shooting his math teacher in the parking lot after school that day.

Morales was mad at the teacher because she'd told him the previous week that if he didn't complete a project he would receive a failing grade in the class.

The project was due Monday -- the same day Morales came to school armed -- and he apparently hadn't completed it.

At one point that day, Morales decided to show off the gun to other students, and one student went to school officials about it.

Morales pleaded guilty last month to to one count each of attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm as part of a plea agreement, and was sentenced to seven years of probation in addition to his two years in the clink.
