Are You "Outrage[d]" About Kids Without Parents Found in a Van by Sheriff's Deputies?

joefatass.jpg
If you follow the advice of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio (heh), you're supposed to be outraged right now.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies pulled over a couple vehicles full o' illegal immigrants Tuesday night and found two kiddos in there -- a brother and sister, ages 5 and 6.

The sheriff's office says the parents didn't come with the youngsters to the U.S., the kids didn't know which state they were being taken to, and they didn't know any of the 20 other people they were with.

Arpaio says there should be "public outrage" over this, and called it ironic that anyone would say he treats children poorly.

"How ironic that only last week I was publicly criticized for how I treat children who are here in this country illegally," Arpaio says. "Will there be any public outrage about how these parents treated these particular children? I doubt it."

Aside from the youngsters protesting Arpaio last week over his immigration policies, there are also the 400-plus bungled sex crimes at his office, which may have something to do with people's perception of how Arpaio treats children.

The stories of several of those children are covered in a New Times cover story on the subject.

On the other hand, deputies found two kids in a van with a bunch of strangers, and Arpaio wants you to be mad at their parents instead of him.

Are you outraged now?

Wow.  The New Times (parent company Village Voice Media) should throw a banner a cross the paper that reads "Hypocrites".  Seems your paper is guilty of running ads that have been directly linked to human smuggling of CHILDREN for sex.  Pigs.

Arpaio will likely end his days as his mirror image of a bygone era did a fading memory of white supremcist's......Sheriff Bull Conners of Alabama infamy! Only his beloved white supremacists still remember him lovingly no doubt, the good thing is Arpaio is likely headed to the same place I think Bull Conners did when he met his maker to that flock of goats and then on to the not so nice place for all eternity, guess that will be the most ironic and justice in the end for all those he has abused, mistreated on earth!

A few points:

1) I would NEVER take or follow the advice of the MCSO shurf. It's just not a good idea.

2) How do we know the children's relatives (aunt, uncle, etc.) weren't in the car?

3) I suspect that the Old Fool is just doing this for publicity, so that he can distract from the real business at hand: Ignoring the Department of Justice and their 22-page letter outlining the racial profiling perpetrated by the Flaccid Failure, his corrupt cronies and his corrupt office.

I sure hope the feds have either completed their criminal investigation or are wrapping it up with criminal indictments being handed up and wrapped with a shiny red bow. Then we can see the series finale of the Joe Show...

Arpaio skips Thousands of other Crimes, by Real Criminals, to Exagerate, and Exasterbate any thing about Un-documented Immigrants.

Arpaio has ripped apart Thousands of Good Families,of  Hard Working un-documented Parents and our own Legal Citizen Children, he has ruined Tens of Thousands of Childrens lives.

This is America's Darkest Hour, and Arpaio truly is "The Face of Racism."

Arpaio's Stooge/Former Deputy Russell Pearce co wrote both E-verify, and SB1070 with Extremists.

January 2008 = The start of the E-verify Law, and the I.C.E. Deportations.

January 2008 Also = The start of "The Worst Recession in U.S. History."

This is No Co-incidence.

Hundreds of Thousands of now vacated Immigrants Dwellings Triggered the entire "Foreclosure Crisis".

Since the start of Arpaio's Anti Immigrant Rant Maricopa County now has a half Million vacant Homes.

Arizona is now Overbuilt, which completely Halted Private sector Construction/Growth, costing Millions of Americans their jobs.

Fact: For every Good, Hard Working Immigrant Deported, America has lost over Four times as many American Jobs.

Fact: The Hard Labor Immigrants used to gladly do for America was the very Foundation of our Strong Economy, and this Hard Labor supported all other American jobs, including Arpaio's now Oversized Staff, which should be cut to match the now smaller Tax Base.

Fact: Every Stimulus, Bail Out, Cash for Clunkers, Jobs Bill, Mortgage Plan, ect. has occured since the January 2008 start of the Deportations, by two Presidents thus far, and has only been "Treating the Symptoms" of the Deportation Damage to America's Economy.

When did this become something new?

Parents sending their kids over has been going on for decades.
There's countless documentaries that cover this.
99% of the time, the parents or a relative are already here and that's where the kids go.  If not, the parents are soon to follow.  At a minimum, the kids will stay with a family friend until the parents make it over. Considering the cost of $2000-$5000 per person, it somewhat makes sense; figure 2 kids and both parents would run anywhere from $8000-$20000.  That's a chunk of change even by American standards.

While I oppose illegal immigration, I do live in reality.  Given the situation in some towns in Mexico I could hardly disagree with parents wanting their kids in a better place.  When it happens in war torn countries we sympathize with the parents and appreciate the sacrifice they are making for their children.

I don't have a problem with MCSO - or any other agency - that catches illegal immigrants... when done legally.  And this does seem to be a legitimate stop. I do have a problem when we are only given 1/2 the story in an effort to make the other side look bad.

Arpaio is just guessing. The kids probably knew where they were going and were told not to tell. peace

maybe the parents of these two children knowingly sent. them with strangers to maybe get them to a better life........really doubt the whole story is the one Arpaio is trying to spin.....

I think we should continue ignoring the ghastly manner human traffickers treat fellow humans. It is none of our business how people are treated as property; how they are beaten, raped, starved, crammed into small quarters for long periods of time, how their families are extorted for monetary gain.

On a more important note, did you see current legislation prohibiting cramped living quarters for hens? There is a cause worth fighting for!

I've got admit that people do some stupid shit with there kids and this one example...however these people are desperate to make sure their kids don't suffer as they would if they were to stay in Mexico and we all know that is not the best place in the world to raise a child so they did what they thought was a good thing...Again MEXICO these people are some of the least educated people in north America...Come on...Again there is no comparison to someone that is PAID TO PROTECT AN SERVE apposed to a desperate parent...JACKASS JOE!!!

Leeli723

That is insane!! How could a parent just ship off their kids like that?!

Carlos Gonzales

Parents in Mexico aren't PAID to serve and protect like a certain elected official here in Arizona and I don't even think this compares to Sheriff Joe's idiocy...Sounds like another way to distract the public's attention of whats really happening...

I suggest you read up on both. You may be enlightened by what you read.

so how about we worry about the trafficers instead of the dishwashers at local cafes.. or house cleaning services, or car washes.
At least those people are working AND not hurting anyone.

I agree with you YPS.

The clowns over at the Legislature and on Capitol Hill need to toughen human smugglers and traffickers. Make it a federal crime to traffic humans, complete with federal prison time and a federal civil fine.

Let's see, beaten, starved, crammed into small quarters for long periods of time?

Sounds like "business as usual" at any of the MCSO jails.

If this is such a great place to raise your kids. Maybe they should try to get here legally. I'm so sick of hearing Mexicans cry about being deported and how our laws are miss treating them and how this is their country. Maybe if they would take the time to at least learn English that would be half the battle. They come here and soak up all the free money and services. Steal anything that's not tied down. Form gangs and shoot and kill everyone for drugs and money. If its so tuff here they should either go back where they came from or just shut the fuck up.

Michael Bauser
Michael Bauser

It's probably not a case of  parents sending kids away. More likely, the parents came across the border first, and the kids are coming to join them. (Yes, I'm assuming Arpaio got the story wrong. It's what he does.)

good point carlos, since mexican parents aren't paid to protect and serve their children, we shouldn't expect them to do it.

Do you have children?

What you suggested constitutes child abuse, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, and if the child dies as a result of your inhumane treatment, murder. All felonies under Arizona law. You'd be looking at life in prison with no chance of parole if brought to trial and convicted.

Why are Mexican farmers coming to the U.S. to work?
Because we've allowed American Corporations to ruin the agricultural industry in Mexico.

U.S. taxpayers subsidize the genetically modified crops, which in turn, get sent to Mexico, where, because us, as taxpayers, are paying for the food in subsidies, it's cheaper than what the Mexican farmers are able to produce.

Same thing as WalMart putting all the mom/pop businesses out of sale.

You guys can all blame the Mexicans for wanting a better life for their families.
I blame our government for only thinking of profits before people.

what's funny is that most of the "illegals" I have met (mostly working at home depot) all spoke decent English. What bothers some simple minded morons in AZ is that they speak English with an accent ...

Who says they don't learn English?

Ah, yes...because you've heard some person with brown skin speaking Spanish somewhere.  I understand - in your world - that means every single one of them doesn't learn English.

Besides, I already speak Spanish.
