Trent Franks Accused of Using His D.C. Abortion Bill As Part of Abortion-Banning Agenda. He Says It's True

Believe it or not, Congressman Trent Franks has an opinion on abortion.
Arizona Congressman Trent Franks recently addressed accusations that his attempt to ban the imaginary problem of race/gender-based abortions in the United States was just part of some agenda to end all abortions in the country.

Well... yeah.

Franks was on the Concerned Women for America radio show last weekend to pimp his "Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act" -- an attempt to ban abortions based on the race or gender of the fetus, which, we'll remind you once again, addresses a problem that doesn't actually exist in this country.

Speaking on the subject of the bill's popularity in a public-opinion poll and similar bills being tossed around in several state legislatures -- one already passed in Arizona -- Franks explained the actual purpose of his bill.

Franks said what he hopes his bill does -- "more than anything else" -- is "cause us all to revisit the issue."

Not surprisingly, "the issue" is abortion in general.

"The people on the pro-abortion side say, 'Trent, you have a much bigger issue and a much bigger agenda here than just sex-selection and race-selection abortion,'" Franks said. "And I think the honest thing for me to do is say yes that's true. I want some day for children of all sexes and all races to be protected and that's definitely an agenda for me and I think it should be for all people in the human family."

Well, at least that's clear -- and there's more.

"But at least we can get together on this much -- that it's wrong to abort a little child because it's the wrong sex or the wrong race," he said. "If we can't come together on that then I'm afraid that any hope of commonalty and unity in this country is lost forever."
