This woman is NOT the mother of a newborn who was dumped in front of a Phoenix home on Tuesday.
Phoenix police said yesterday that the woman to the right could potentially be the mother of a newborn who was dumped in front of a Phoenix home on Tuesday. They've since contacted the woman, and it turns out she is NOT the mother of "Baby Kathleen."

"The woman pictured in the photos has been contacted and she DOES NOT have any connection to Baby Kathleen or this case," Phoenix Sergeant Tommy Thompson says. "We are still looking for the Baby Kathleen's mother."

Thompson says Baby Kathleen was found about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of a home in the 900 block of West Kathleen Road -- near Greenway Parkway and 7th Avenue.

The baby was found wrapped in a blanket about 25 feet from the front door of the home.

The home's resident told police she found the newborn when she'd returned from running errands.

Thompson says the baby appears to have been born just a few hours before she was found -- the umbilical cord was still attached, and there was some afterbirth on her.

The baby was brought to a nearby hospital, where she appears to be doing well, Thompson says.

Since news of Baby Kathleen's abandonment hit the web yesterday afternoon, police have received several tips about the presumed mother.

Thompson says police are concerned for the mother's health, as well.

Anyone with information about the baby or her mother is asked to call Phoenix police at 602-262-6141, or Silent Witness at 1-800-WITNESS.

I don't think anyone knows anything about the woman so to condemn her is just plain ignorant.   Try to think outside of that little box you call your brain and stop flapping your fog horn mouth and judging someone else instead of yourself.

What's the ethnicity of the mother? They're obviously looking for a Hispanic mother, right? The one in the photo is Hispanic. But I'm gonna bet that the mother is also still in highs school and didn't want to drop out or anger her old folks.

Maybe it's just me but certainly the Phoenix police have better things to investigate than this. It would be different if the baby had died and there murder ot manslaughter charges to deal with but she is doing well.  The end result is the same, as if she dropped her at the hospital.  Yes, it was wrong and the baby could have suffered but she didn't.  Perhaps the mother could not physically have gotten anywhere else or didn't know where to go or was just plain scared to death.  It is good that they announced today to get the drop off info out to the schools more.  Time to move on now.

What about child abandonment, neglect, endangerment?? It's sad that you think it's ok to have reckless disregard for someone's life (especially a helpless infant). She should have thought of how scary it would be to be a mom before she went and got knocked up. Information about contraceptives are already out to the schools and have been for a long time. Nobody child deserves to be dropped off like yesterdays trash. I hope they find her. Furthermore, if the police dropped every case where the child lived then rapist and  child molesters would be running the streets. But as long as they didn't die it's alright, right? Never mind the mental and emotional damage as long as they are still alive. Even though they may wish for the rest of their lives they were dead. Just sad......

No, it is sad that you didn't read my post carefully.  I did not anywhere in it, say it was
"okay".  I also said it was wrong.  Did you miss that part? Of course no child deserves to be abandoned like that, no one ever said they did. Nor did anyone say anything about dropping cases regarding rapists and child molesters either. Since you
brought it up, this mother herself, may very well be young and a victim of a household member who molested her, you don't know.  In fact, you don't know anything about her, yet so quick to judge her with the "before she went and got knocked up". You don't even know if that was the case or not.  Of course the mother needed help.  She did not get it. I hope that first she gets a women's health exam at Planned Parenthood, birth control and a referral to social agency for other help, badly needed.

Saying  "Maybe it's just me but certainly the Phoenix police have better things to investigate than this." or  "
Yes, it was wrong and the baby could have suffered but she didn't." is an indication to me that you think this is a matter not worth addressing. I do, however, agree with you that i was a little hasty in my saying  "She should have thought of how scary it would be to be a mom before she went and got knocked up" but my words were out of complete shock and disgust for her actions.  but your saying
It would be different if the baby had died and there murder ot manslaughter charges to deal with but she is doing well. Also indicates that matters such as these are only worth looking into if the child dies. My comment about rapists was in reference to that. Just because the child lives doesn't mean that they don't deserve justice. Everyone is so worried about "oh the poor little mommy she must have been terrified" But nobody takes into consideration the other victim in the situation The Baby. Imagine having to go through the rest of your life being named after the street your mom dumped you on. I'm glad the baby is doing fine and I guess that's all that really matters in the end.....
Here's to hoping the mother comes forward and gets the help that she obviously needs. At least we can agree on that.

Thanks Crystal. Besides I'm not saying that this girl needs to be convicted or put in prison. What I am saying is that she obviously needs physical and psychological help. I mean let's be honest here how many rational sane people do you know that just go throwing babies into other peoples lawns?  She needs to be found so she can be helped. Whether she did it out of fear, stupidity, or whatever other reason, she needs counseling not necessarily prison.

i feel sorry for sabastian...wonder how much responsibility you take for your child-with your well educated linguistic skills and obvious lack of morals-hopefully your kid turns out better than that.

HHmmmm I can't understand how thinking it's not ok to just dump your infant on someones door step (oh wait I mean 25 feet from the door step so the poor thing didn't even get paid that respect) means that I am an "over bearing bitch" or a "f***ing idiot". It's women that don't take responsibility for the life that they created that give women a bad name not the women that are opposed dangerous child abandonment. There are plenty of places to anonymously take an unwanted baby. Why add insult to injury by throwing it away like it's nothing when there are thousands of women that cant have children and would be happy to have had that little girl in their lives. BTW your choice of words makes you look Ignorant therefore giving all of mankind a bad name.
