Phoenix Suns Split Weekend Series With Los Angeles Lakers

​The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers traded wins over the weekend, with each team grabbing 12-point victories at home.

The Suns got the Kobe Bryant treatment in L.A. on Friday, as he dropped 36 points in a 111-99 victory.

Last night, the Suns turned it around in Phoenix -- despite Bryant scoring 32 -- as center Marcin Gortat and forward Jared Dudley combined for 46 points in a 102-90 victory.

Suns point guard Steve Nash proved worthy of his All-Star selection this weekend, handing out 17 assists in Friday's loss, and 14 in last night's victory.

Gortat also played like an All-Star this weekend, with the Western Conference's lack of big men making Gortat a true All-Star snub.

That's right, Gortat -- the "Polish Hammer" -- should be an All-Star.

Going against the West's starting center for this year's All-Star game, Lakers center Andrew Bynum, Gortat scored 21 points and picked up 16 rebounds on Friday, then dropped 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds on Sunday.

Bynum had fewer points and rebounds than Gortat in both games.

Gortat's also got slightly better stats this year than the West's backup center in the All-Star game, the Memphis Grizzlies' Marc Gasol.

Gortat's shooting better from the field than Gasol this year, and averaging more points and rebounds per game, while turning over the ball less.

Yes, there's a legitimate All-Star case for Gortat, however crazy that sounds.

The Suns, still lagging in the standings with a 13-19 record, look to pick up a win tonight in Phoenix against one of the easier teams in the league -- the Washington Wizards.
