You're going to have to help us out, Bobby, and give an example of a sheriff who successfully used a posse to defend "the citizens in his jurisdiction" against the federal government. I know I'm not aware of any. If fact, most of cases of sheriffs resisting federal authority that I *am* aware of were sheriffs conspiring to violate civil rights laws, and in some cases, encouraging lynchings. (Look up "United States v. Shipp" in Wikipedia, for example.) Which, I admit, sounds like something Arpaio would do, but that doesn't help your delusion any.

If a crisis were to arise in which the central govenment, would try to abuse the rights of citizens in any given state, then the historical and current defender of those citizens would be the county Sheriff whos duties would be to organize a "posse of citizens" to defend themselves against that central authority. All I can say is, I hope to God, the central govenrnment doesn't try this seriously in Arizona, especially the area most of the people on this forum live in,because they would turn against their own Sheriff if he had to team up with Sheriff Joe's men in Maricopa County, and thus, doom their own families and friends--betray them that is, into the hands of a powerfull central authority. He always consider rumors to be facts, and depending upon whether the person in question is a friend or a political enemy determines the results of said 'investigation.' Don't forget this is the guy that can't do an investigation of sex crimes even when given the name of the suspect and that suspect's location.  It just isn't 'a priority.'

• The only question is whether Arpaio will do a legitimate investigation, considering facts and evidence just like any police agency normally does, or whether he will descend into conspiracy theory thinking where everything is controlled by the shadows behind reality,  rumors are considered facts and everybody is lying. If the former, then Obama is eligible. If the latter, who knows?

•  No, there is no "slim chance" Obama was born overseas. The Congress in 2008 unanimously certified the 2008 election. Obama is not a usurper by any definition of the word. • Probably Arpaio will conjure up some diversion - maybe a major crime or act of terrorism - on or just before March 1st.  Otherwise we'll find out that (1) he wasted a lot of time, money, and police assets on junkets to Hawaii, where he and his people found out that (2) Hawaiian and Federal privacy laws prohibit him and his goons from stomping through the health record files they wanted to see, (3) he didn't bother to get a search warrant or court order relevant to his project, and (4) Miracopa County badges don't impress anyone west of Lake Havasu.  End result: because Hawaiian health officials didn't break the law to accommodate him, there must be some tremendous cover-up. You'll notice that he didn't take any junkets to Kenya, which is not considered such a resort romp as Honolulu.

• What has happened to my beloved Arizona, and especially Phoenix, where I was born. I am a forth generation Arizonan, and this state wasn't always so far to the right that they couldn't be reasoned with. This States leftys and rightys use to actually meet somewhere in the middle.
