Izrahias Morales, High School Freshman Who Brought Gun to School to Shoot Teacher, Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder Charge
Izrahias Morales was only 15 when he brought the gun to school last February, but was charged as an adult by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
According to authorities, Morales brought a loaded, 9-millimeter handgun to Millenium High School in Goodyear on February 12 with the intention of shooting his math teacher in the parking lot after school that day.
Morales, authorities say, was mad at the teacher because she'd told him the previous week that if he didn't complete a project he would receive a failing grade in the class.
The project was due Monday -- the same day he brought the gun to school -- and he apparently hadn't completed it.
Morales' plan was disrupted, though, because he felt the need to show the gun off to other students. One of the students saw the gun and told school officials, who found the gun in Morales' backpack.
Morales' sentencing is scheduled for March 26 before Court Commissioner Barbara Spencer.
