Will Cops Find Jhessye Shockley's Body?

Jhessye Shockley, 5, has been missing since October. She's presumed dead.
The Glendale Police Department announced yesterday that it plans to move forward with plans to search a landfill for the remains of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley, who's been missing since October and is presumed dead.

Since Shockley's disappearance, the case has gone from a missing person investigation to a homicide investigation -- with Shockley's mother, Jerice Hunter, the number one suspect.

Get all the details of Shockley's disappearance here.

Finding the 5-year-old's body in acres of trash is not gonna be easy for investigators; the area they'll have to search is roughly the size of two football fields and is 30 feet deep -- and that's only if they can accurately narrow down when the girl's body was tossed into a trash can in Tempe, and which truck brought it to the dump.

Authorities don't necessarily need the girl's body to convict her mother of murder -- the Maricopa County Attorney's Office just convicted Rick Valentini, a.k.a. "Bryan Stewart," of second-degree murder in the presumed death of his ex-girlfriend, 32-year-old Jamie Jean Laiaddee.

Laiaddee's body was never found, but Rick Valenti will be spending the next 42 years in an Arizona prison as a convicted murderer.

We want to know what you think: will investigators be able to find Shockley's body?

So if they don't find her remains, will Jerice continue to walk free?  What I can't understand is why they can't make her take a lie detector test- does the accused always have to give permission for one?  I believe if they locked her up, eventually she's break down and admit it!  Remember how Casey reacted when she was told that Caylee's remains had been found? I wonder what grandma will have to say next?  Always talking smack about what the authorities have and haven't done. First, she was mad because she thought the cops weren't doing enough because she was black.  Grandma's got a lot of nerve running her mouth, considering it was her that returned the kids to Jerice after geting out of prison. And I've read that Jerice's mother was herself a child abuser.  I think she's enjoying stirring up trouble and getting her name in the papers.

the only way they will find the body is if the person who dumped her in the trash admits it and they can trace it from where the trash was dumped on that day.
Otherwise, it's a needle in a haystack.

A poll? Need a third option to choose from.   But I can Guess that if she is there, they
will find her.

Possible? Yes.

Probable? Not so much.

Obviously the investigators have substantial validated information that the child was killed and thrown into this landfill. They also have a 'footprint' of the area where the body was most likely dumped during the time frame immediately after the date of the dumping of the body, if that can be/has been determined.

It would be much better if the perpetrator would simply admit to the killing of the child.

Otherwise that person(s) may possibly face the death penalty.

Unfortunately, Mr King, the chances of finding her body are slim.

Too bad that the person who threw this little girl away didn't have more respect for her.

RIP, Baby girl.

Really!  Why couldn't she just spell it Jessie like regular people.

Wouldn't it be helpful if they took cadaver dogs out there? They could just focus on the area the dogs hit on.  At this point, if she is there, she would just be skeletal remains. I wonder why they believe she is there- did Jerice confide what she did to someone?  Why can't they just arrest her already and interrogate her until she breaks?

Maybe she wanted it different. Not like everyone spells it. Gosh. Don't forget that, that's a missing (maybe possibly dead) sweet innocent little girl's name you're talking about. What does the name matter?! Though I still think the mother killed that girl, I don't think we should be talking about names here. That's the least concern.

I don't know all the specifics in how they find bodies in dumps, usually I think they used to just dig in the areas from around the time of the crime. These days they might use those sonar things, but then again, I might have seen that on CSI, so maybe they don't do that.
