Has Joe Arpaio's Endorsement Become "Toxic?"

Joe Arpaio: a political A-bomb?
Former presidential candidate Rick Perry pulled the plug on his failed campaign yesterday, which is the second time in two presidential elections that a candidate with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's backing failed to make it out of a GOP primary.

As Valley attorney Chad Snow commented on our post yesterday about Perry's failed campaign, it appears the sheriff's political nod has become "toxic."

As Snow points out, Arpaio's endorsements the past few years include the following: former TV pitchman/failed Senate candidate J.D. Hayworth, ousted former Senate President Russell Pearce, shamed former County Attorney Andrew Thomas, and Perry.

Snow fails to mention disgraced former state Senator Scott Bundgaard, who also boasted the endorsement of America's priciest sheriff.

What are all of Arpaio's horses doing these days?

Well...

-Hayworth finally got a full-time job -- more than a year after John McCain mopped the floor with him in the 2010 GOP Senate primary -- as a right-wing radio host.

-Pearce is begging for a spot in the leadership of Arizona's Republican Party after becoming the first state Senate president in U.S. history to lose in a recall election.

-Bundgaard is still licking his wounds after resigning from the Senate because he got into a fight with his former girlfriend on the side of a Valley freeway.

-Andrew Thomas is about to lose his license to practice law (fingers crossed).

It seems like it's one or the other: Arpaio's endorsement is toxic, or he just keeps endorsing total scumbags.

We want to know what you think: is Arpaio's endorsement toxic, or does he just endorse toxic candidates?

His endorsement was politically valuable at one time, not that it should have been; it just was.

Today, his endorsement is toxic, relating the candidate to his corruption, failed memory, incompetence, and general disregard for the law.

Now we find out that his 6 inch campaign war chest is only 3.7 inches long.  Of course what do you expect from the Flaccid one?  Wait...was that inches or millions of dollars.  That measure of his popularity with voters was probably a deception that encouraged candidates to more aggressively court his endorsement despite his baggage.

His endorsement got Rick Perry about 3 extra votes in Iowa.  What a deal.

I'm a PND, but no the democrats level of corruption is no where near the GOP,

look up Bill Allen and the Alaska Legislatures self proclaimed "Corrupt Bastards Club".

the GOP and their false morality simply tell voters what they think will scare them into being a mindless follower like yourself.  You've either had too much kool aid or you're out there selling that kool aid to the general masses.

Arpaio will cozy up to whomever it is that turns out to be the Republican nominee for the presidential election this fall. See, he's going to need a buddy in the White House. If we happen to get a Republican President elected this fall, He's going to want to cash in his favor chip with that president when he gets his sorry fat ass sent to prison for abuse of power, corruption, mis-management of public funds, civil rights violations, discrimination and racial profiling. He'll ask for a pardon from his buddy in the Whiter House. That's my bet!!!

How many of Arpaio's Command Staff fell last year?  I think it is Arpaio.

Let's see, God told Michele Bachman to run and now she's gone.

God told Herman Caine to run and now he's gone.

God told Rick Perry to run and now he's gone.

Only two conclusions can be drawn.
1. God has a great sense of humor
2. Satan's candidates beat God's candidates.

Will Arpaio's endorsement of Perry be the key to Arpaio ending his career as Sheriff of Maricopa County?

It's a long shot but what if...

Gingrich surges and wins the Republican Primary.

Gingrich chooses Perry as his VP.

Gingrich/ Perry defeat Obama/ Biden.

Gingrich appoints Arpaio as the head of Homeland Security.

Now that would be ironic, wouldn't it?

I think you  are out of line PTCGAZ.  What you are saying isn't what he wants.  I think you don't get YPS...most don't but you don't even try.

I forgot one thing but it is something that I have thought about for a couple of weeks.

Honor.

YPS is honorable to his fellow officers and the department.  Sometimes he comes across as defending Arpaio but that isn't always necessarily so.  I have accused him of such so that is why I thought about why he would do that.

He was right about giving Arpaio credit for getting that blog taken down.  Whether it was his idea or not or his bullying or blowjobs who knows....it's gone and I can agree that is a good thing.

I see things as they are.  That is my view of you.

If you need a break from blogging I understand that.  You bring great insight to this forum.  I will miss it so try and add your comments on occasion.

If you are serious about keeping in touch with me I would like that a lot.

Take care of yourself and be safe.

I will keep in touch with you, Eleanor.  Thank you.

I gave you my flippant answer.  I have had time to think about YPS and what my answer is.

Let me start out by saying that for the past four plus years I have focused almost solely on corruption in law enforcement.  My knowledge of this subject is probably more than most who post here.

I have have met with Lyle Mann in person. I have spoken with presidents of police unions.  I wrote a paper that helped changed a piece of legislation regarding corruption in law enforcement. I have put a lot of time and energy into these things.

In saying that I think I have a different perception than most do about cops.  As I said, I know and understand corruption in LE and even with that I still maintain the utmost respect for police officers.

Now regarding YPS....

Let's start with the obvious.  He is a cop.  He is passionate about what he does as a peace officer and he shows that.  He wants change inside MCSO as we all do but he sees it from a place that you and I don't.  He understands that if you are going to change things than you can't just place the next guy who has in ass in the air in that position.

When somebody comes in from the outside they will have to fight a lot of people who don't want to change.  That certainly doesn't mean that it isn't possible but it will be an uphill battle.  Just because Arpaio might be gone doesn't mean the people who maintained all the corruption under him will be.

YPS undertstands that.  Change also has to come from within not just with a new Sheriff.

He lost a friend when Coleman was killed and that was hurtful to him in ways you or I can never imagine.  I understand what it is like to lose a good friend but I had time to say goodbye to mine.  He had no opportunity.  His friend was murdered.  How does one not be angry?

His passion is obvious about his job and he stands by that.  That shows integrity.  That is a great thing for a cop to have.  He is compassionate about people he cares about....whoever those people are they should consider themselves lucky.  Integrity, compassion, intelligence and his ability to communicate are very good qualities to have.

I don't know him personally but if you can disagree with any of this let me know.  If I am wrong about any of it I don't see where.

As I said he doesn't want you or me to know him or know who he is but that doesn't mean you can't understand him.

YPS, if I am wrong on any of this please let me know.

Jason
Jason

Then YPS needs to give people a chance to "get" him...If he's always sarcastic how is he going to let people get to know him?

Normally I choose to not respond to your strange comments but today I am in the mood.

I have heard the words troll, trolling used in a few different ways.  I personally think that the people who come on here and feel they need to respond to EVERYBODY'S comments, or starts shit (just because) is more of a trolling technique used in the blogs.

I don't care if you live with your Mom.  I don't care that you go to school.  I don't care if you drink Hawaiian Punch or Black Canyon City tap water.

You take a  lot of shit and it is because you are a person who thinks they know everything and you feel the most horrific need to share it.

I don't mind you sharing your thoughts on what you know and are able to speak of and communicate without getting vile and calling names.  I don't mind at all.

My suggestion would be that you get a girlfriend and poke her instead of always poking around here looking for trouble or trolling as you say.

Enjoy your day.  Life is good go get you some of it.

Perry solicited Arpaio's endorsement. I didn't see anyone knocking on Stauffers door, or did Ben Quayle approach Stauffer?

Yourproductsucks

Absolutely!

I can't wait for him to go!

I am one of the few on this site who truly remain critically minded of joe and his shenanigans. I am neither blinded by hatred nor by allegiance towards arpaio.

Yourproductsucks

Oh, I forgot to mention that Stauffer (who is seeking the position of County Sheriff) endorsed Ben Quayle who was a "national candidate" when running for a seat in the US House of Representatives. Didn't Stauffer host a fund raiser for mr dirty.com at the humble Stauffer abode?

No hypocracy in your assessment. Not even a little.

with all the though you put into spinning this stuff you'd think you would have assessed Jho with a critical mind.  apparently you think a lack of morals is a good trait for elected politicians.

Yourproductsucks

Stauffer petitioned for and received an endorsement from none other than Ben "dirty.com" Quayle. The same guy who photo oped himself as a family man with values...
As far as "doing what he's supposed to be doing" why is Stauffer still "working" for Scottsdale pd? His campaign for public office interferes with his ability to provide the services promised to the residents of Scottsdale.
His pomise to "lead from the front" falls on deaf ears when his actions show he lacks instestinal fortitude to do what is ethical.

Thanks for the opening West K.

So, in your mind, an Arpaio endorsement does a presidential candidate or congressman make?  LMAO!

The ONLY reason those losers went to Arpaio was in a last ditch move in desperation to try to bolster their failing campaigns.

Bottom line, any national candidate who panders to a county sheriff to bolster their numbers and/or platform is just showing us they don't have what it takes to get the job.

Stauffer is running in Maricopa County for the job of Sheriff, nothing else.  He's the one who's doing exactly what he should be doing.

Or....?

The Feds indict The Tax Fleecing ...'Henry Morse'...(Arpaio) of modern times, and by the time the election is held all candidates are distancing themselves from the self proclaimed media whore...Then.....

Texas, has the same passion and voter drive that Arizona has experienced in the last election that ousted bigoted Sen Russell Pearce, and Perry cannot hold his own state due to the very pissed of Latino Voting block in his home state..? Ironic....indeed...

If Gingrich gets the GoP nod, you'll will probably see Perry receiving the Vice-Presidential invitation.

Arpaio also endorsed Napolitano.  Why did you negate that from your list?
