Best Democratic Candidate For District 9 Congressional Seat: Kyrsten Sinema, David Schapira, Or Andrei Cherny (Maybe)?

State Senate Minority Leader David Schapira, a Democrat, announced yesterday that he's running for Congress in Arizona's newly formed District 9.

Much to the minority leader's chagrin, we're sure, he's not the only lefty with his eye on the seat -- former state Senator Kyrsten Sinema also has announced that she plans to run in District 9.

Additionally, Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Andrei Cherny also is rumored to be considering a run.

Republican Congressman Ben Quayle currently lives in what is now District 9, but he's likely to run in the much more GOP-friendly District 6, where he'll have to face Congressman David Schweikert in a GOP primary.

They need to have a debate and a primary before we coronate either with the mantle of "electability." I'll bet a lot of Democratic primary voter would like to know how each candidate feels about taking campaign money from AIPAC. Does anyone remember who David supported in the 2004 Presidential Primary? He was state chair for Sen. Joementum Lieberman!!

I don't think that an anti-immigrant Pearce-loving candidate is what the Dems should be proposing, regardless of "electablity".

All are great public servants. David is the only one of the three who lives in the Congressional District he would represent. Was born in the district, too.
