Will Missing Baby Gabriel Johnson Ever Be Found Alive?

Yesterday marked the two year anniversary of the day Gabriel Johnson was first reported missing. At the time of his disappearance, Gabriel was just eight months old.

The boy's mother, Elizabeth Johnson, is suspected to have been involved in his disappearance -- she currently is charged with kidnapping and child abuse.

Initially, Johnson told the boy's father, Logan McQueary, that she killed the boy and threw him in a dumpster. She later changed her story, saying she gave the baby to an unknown couple she met in a San Antonio park.

Two years later, and McQueary isn't holding out hope that his son will be found alive.

"I always knew the evidence was there in the things that police and the FBI told me and listening to the interviews and stuff that Elizabeth said, but I guess I never really wanted to believe it and I guess just over time I came to the realization that this might be exactly what Elizabeth did," McQueary tells a local TV station.

Certainly, Elizabeth Johnson's criminal co-defendant, Tammi Peters Smith, has gone on with her life as if Gabriel's disappearance means nothing. The colonics crone reportedly got court approval to leave Arizona. And they say her husband has launched a new poopoo biz for her in Nashville, so she's probably hoping folks just forget about this kid and her part in all of it. Gabriel's crazy mom seems content to rot in jail, provided the MC Attorney's office don't crumble and give her a plea deal. Who could blame Login McQ for giving up hope, especially after SA Cop Salame avoided any consequences for his sorry conduct? But nobody has put out any proof that this kid is no longer alive, so we're all doing him a terrible disservice if society simply writes him off at this point. Sure, the poll is lame, but if it helps keep folks attention focussed on the case, it serves its purpose. 'Nuff said.

A poll of people who have nothing to do with this case and not even related to the families...is beyond absurd. What difference does it make what we think about it? We don't have access to the evidence. Even if we did, is this kind of thing, like a poll right? Our opinions are not needed here. When the mentally unstable are left to care for children this is what happens! The father had to know she was a prime candidate for the Madhouse on Van Buren, long before the child disappeared and her parents knew she was a little off center yet they did nothing. Its sad that primary care for the mentally ill is usually performed in correction centers long after care could have done some good. Look at Loughner for another example. AZ, like many other states make the choice to save money at the hands of the mentally ill and we bitch when something like this happens! Its a vicious circle and it is very sad that Gabriel was consumed by it!

I have an Autistic 19 year old son. He will have to live at home for the rest of his life. He can do everything a normal child can do except read, write and tell time. But at times his brain goes into overload and he has what we call A melt down. He goes into fits of rage during these melts downs and can be very violent. I can not and not allowed to have him "fixed" to avoid from having kids. I love him to death but I know if he does have a child I will be the one responsible for raising the child. I am now 47 and all my kids and step kids are grown, I in no way want to raise any more children. So until we are allowed to do something to avoid these issues this will continue to happen.

Until the child is found the story needs to be kept alive, just in case someone new to the story sees it and recognizes the child. The poll is strictly a catalyst to get readers to pay attention to the story.

Instead of criticizing the writer perhaps you should be recognizing the writer for keeping the story alive and 'out there', eh?

I don't hold a lot of hope for finding the child.
