Sara Petsinger, 31, is going to need a new job -- her meth/topless massage business was shut down yesterday when she was arrested for selling meth and heroin to an undercover Mesa police officer...in a school zone...as an 8-year-old slept in her apartment.

Petsinger and her co-defendant, 49-year-old Christine Petsinger, face nearly a dozen felony charges each for selling drugs to the officer on two separate occasions. In both instances, Christine Petsinger's 8-year-old son was in the apartment -- in one case, the two smoked meth with the boy in the home.

According to court documents obtained by New Times, Christine Petsinger arranged a meth deal between Sara Petsinger and a supposed tweeker on December 2. The tweeker, as we mentioned, was actually an undercover Mesa cop.

Court records don't say how the Petsingers are related, but their ages suggest Christine is Sara's mother.

When the officer got to the Petsinger's Mesa apartment -- which happens to be right across the street from Rhodes Junior High School -- Christine ushered him upstairs, where Sara was waiting with the meth. The 8-year-old stayed downstairs.

The officer purchased $100 worth of meth from the women, as both Petsingers smoked some from a white pipe -- again, with the 8-year-old downstairs.

A few days later, on December 7, the undercover officer was in the market for some heroin. Christine Petsinger again arranged a buy.

When the officer got to the apartment, the 8-year-old was sleeping. Christine again brought the officer upstairs, where he purchased $160 worth of heroin from Sara Petsinger.

The cops sprung their trap yesterday, arresting both women. The boy was turned over to Child Protective Services.

Following her arrest, Sara Petsinger told police she consumes about $400 in illicit drugs a month. She says she sells only to "close friends."

She also told police about her other source of income: an illegal topless massage business she runs out of her apartment.

The Petsingers face several charges, including multiple counts of child abuse, drug possession, drug possession for sale. Sara Petsinger also faces a misdemeanor prostitution charge.

Their only crime was being coerced to supply a police officer with some drugs.   They didn't say the cop smoked any meth but it would look awful funny if he's supposedly buying meth to smoke and he didn't smoke with them because they would offer to share the product before he bought it.   Or else how would he know it was any good to buy if he didn't try it first?  Setting people up to commit crime...well ain't that the most patriotic thing in the world?    You make it sound like they were dealing in the street by using the phrase "school zone".   I wonder if they have to obey the school zone speed limits in their house?

This was an obvious low-level operation.  On the first "buy" the police should have arrested the woman.  The child was in a dangerous environment and should have been the priority - not setting up a second deal to strengthen their dealing charge.  At least it was the Mesa police and not the sheriff's department - there would have been multiple buys since topless massages would be too inviting for repeat undercover visits.

problem is these two were so low that I am surprised they even arrested them.

Hmm, so not a victimless crime after all.  See, kid is the victim.

So we should criminalize alcohol and tobacco consumption because some children's parents are alcoholics and addicts? Exposure to tobacco smoke harms children's health directly, yet somehow it's still legal to smoke indoors around minors.

dumb ass...they're talking about smoking METH in front of the kid...AND YES IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO SMOKE IN FRONT OF A NON SMOKING MINOR

cigarette smoke is more harmful to minors, that is why in MA and a few other states it's illegal to smoke in your house, or your car with a minor present.

wait, did this just say the undercover actually was smoking meth with the perp?

um, do we really want our police junked out on meth?

No. There was no mention of the cop smoking meth in the report. Just the two defendants.

That doesn't mean the cop wasn't smoking meth.  They probably left that little bit out, of course.

I know why he is confused because I was confused too.."in one case, the two smoked meth with the boy in the home."

I sorta misread it but it could be considered confusing. lol

I didn't get that at all.  In today's media, one must read between the lines.  They don't explicitely state that the cop wasn't smoking meth.  And so that people don't get confused, they should say as much.  However, if they said as much and it was learned that they lied, they could be placed on administrative leave or worse.

Boris, I am not illiterate. In fact I scored in the top 1% for reading comprehension when I did my SAT's back in the mid 90s, so don't assume things...

Yeah, I can see why it would be confusing to borderline illiterate posters!

Most of us got the fact the officer purchased the meth and didn'r smoke it.
