Joe Arpaio's "Birther" Investigation Wages On as Outrage Over Sheriff's Bungling of Hundreds of Sex Crime Investigation Grows

joeglobe.jpg
(Sigh)
As the outrage over Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's mishandling of several hundred sex crimes continues to spread, the sheriff's crusade to prove that President Barack Obama is a Kenyan version of the Manchurian Candidate wages on.

Arpaio, as we've reported, agreed to investigate the president's citizenship at the request of a local Tea Party group, and conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi.

The sheriff explained the "investigation" to us in October. Get the details here (according to Arpaio, the details involve Hawaiian twins and microfiche. No joke).

This week, as he fended off criticism of the botched investigations, Arpaio found time for a quick interview with Corsi on the status of the bogus investigation.

"This is a serious law enforcement investigation, and our findings are going to be controversial but based in facts," Arpaio says in an article that appeared on Corsi's website, World Net Daily.

According to the sheriff, a preliminary report on the investigation will be ready in February. A more comprehensive report will follow.

When we spoke with Arpaio about the "investigation," he told us his "Cold Case Posse" has uncovered some shocking new information about whether Obama is legally qualified to be president. He refused to go into too many details, but the answer to the president's citizenship question could be answered by Hawaiian twins and microfiche, the sheriff says.

"No one has talked about microfiche. The controversy has been over the birth certificate -- maybe the numbers are not in sequence, or it's been forged; I can go on and on," Arpaio told New Times in October. "To help the president of the United States, let's go to the microfiche."

According to the sheriff, two twins -- the Nordyke twins -- were born on August 5, 1961 at the same hospital as the president. August 5, 1961, is one day after President Obama was (allegedly -- if you ask a "birther") born in Hawaii. The twins' birth certificates can be found on microfiche documents that the sheriff says are on file with the Hawaii Department of Health, or some Hawaiian government agency.

If Obama was born in the same hospital the day before the twins, according to the sheriff, the posse should be able to locate the president's birth certificate on similar microfiche files.

"All you have to do if you're the president is go to the Department of Health, or whatever, and release the microfiche," Arpaio says. "If his birth certificate is on that microfiche -- just like the two twins -- then he's cleared."

Meanwhile, as the sheriff plays around with the "birthers," the more than 400 botched sex crime investigations in El Mirage from 2005-2007 has resulted in multiple calls for Arpaio's resignation.

The sheriff yesterday pointed to other local law enforcement agencies with (ahem) much bigger problems than a few hundred bungled investigation.

"I'm gonna say it again: this is not unique to the sheriff's office because you can talk about four other local agencies -- who I will not identify, but I'm sure you know who they are -- who've had serious other problems just like this in the last 18 months," Arpaio said at a press conference yesterday.

As we pointed out in our post yesterday, two of the agencies the sheriff's referring to are likely the Justice Department and its flubbed "Fast and Furious" gun-running sting, and the Phoenix Police Department's recent issue with properly tallying kidnapping statistics.

The heads of each of those agencies -- former Phoenix police Chief Jack Harris and former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Dennis Burke -- had the decency to step down after the shit hit the fan.

Not Arpaio, though -- he says he has no intentions of resigning. After all, he's smack dab in the middle of a (gulp) important investigation into a continuously debunked conspiracy theory.

"The American people deserve to know the truth about Obama," Arpaio continues to WND. "We are a major law enforcement agency - one of the largest in the nation - and we have at our disposal investigative tools not generally available, even to the top private investigator in the country."

Tell that to the sex crime victims in El Mirage.

There has to be something done about joe. Somone said that if the drug cartels wanted him gone he would be gone. That makes a person think Why is joe still around? Maybe he is being paid off by the cartels. The longer he stays in office the more money he makes. Why hasnt the state or feds looked into this? All the illegals he arrests are dishwashers, car wash workers, land scrapers. His little trip to honduras could have been to set up with the cartels.

"The buck stops here."  Let's consider this in the terms of JoeSpin.

1.  The phrase means the top dog is in charge and responsible for good and bad issues.

2.  The Sheriff reports to the 4M people of Maricopa County.  We are considered his boss.

3.  We have to pay the bills for his antics, lawsuits, etc.

4.  The buck stops with us.  This whole ignored crimes issue is our fault.  Joe is just our employee.

So, if it is our fault, what are we going to do about it?

Gerry_C
Gerry_C

If the pressure stays on, this might be a mortal wound to Arpaio.  I don't think that he understands that re-raping a child offends the human dignity of most of the citizens in Maricopa County and elsewhere.  This offense and his passing the buck attitude is far worse than he believes.  He can let his gulags kill people and people are concerned.  But ignoring a juvenile victim of a sexual assault over and over and over is far worse for Arpaio's standing than killing an accused person in the jail.  Perhaps it should not be, but public perception really favors the known innocent in society.

Message for Joe:1.  I don't give a damn if it happened yesterday or 5 years ago.  It was and is inexcusable.  2.  Not holding yourself accountable over this is inexcusable.3. I don't care if other agencies have issues that blow up in their faces.4. No other local agency has the magnitude of screw up and harm to people as yours does.5. If you think it takes an expert consultant to tell you that you need to work cases to solve them, then what are you even doing in the job?6. Why has it taken more than three years to acknowledge this issue?7. If you are not accountable, then identify the accountable person and state why you are not accountable.8. How many times did you tell us that you run a tight ship since the start of your sex crime avoidance campaign?

Fantasy headline for the night:  "Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio Resigned Today in the Wake of a Sex Scandal that has rocked the Sheriff's Office."

This is probably my most terrifying thinking on this ignored case situation.  I am trying to put it in perspective.  I think I helped myself understand what we are really dealing with here.  No, Joe.  Other agencies don't have far worse problems than you do.  You are an embarrassment to the professionals that work for you and wear their uniform with pride hoping to make society a little better. I welcome comments concerning my magnitude perspective below.  I am still trying to get a real sense of feeling about how bad this was and is.

Considering hiring a nationally known consultant to see what went wrong, I still have thoughts about the appropriateness of the action.  If MCSO has ignored 500 cases, that does not indicate a need for a consultant to figure out what went wrong.  If you lost 5 cases, then a consultant might be warranted because you have a SERIOUS problem and need to figure out the details of how these cases fell through the crack in order to foreclose the possibility of it happening again.  The loss of 500 cases is not something falling through the crack.  It is a wholesale fork-lifting of cases into a storage locker to never look at them again.  It is most certainly an intentional action on somebody's part that should never have been missed even with an incompetent Sheriff in charge.  It is too bad to be accidental.

Five sexual assault cases ignored is a SERIOUS problem.  Would anybody tolerate that?  Multiply that by 100  (YES ... ONE HUNDRED) and you have the enigma that is America's Most Unaccountable Sheriff.  If five lost cases can't be tolerated, can any of us really fathom the magnitude of the issue here?  We don't need a consultant to fix a problem.  We need an credible and competent investigation to fix a problem.

The only investigation Joe Arpaio should be worried about is the abuse-of-power one being conducted by the DOJ that has a federal GJ convened.

This "investigation" into natural-born citizen President Obama is just a distraction from his office's bungling of more than 400 sex crimes against children.

Joe Arpaio needs to be booted. Now. Come on DOJ, hand up those indictments. I've got a cold bottle of Captain Morgan waiting.

Terryballard

Here are the immigration rules that were in effect when the President was born:

"When one parent was a US citizen and the other a foreign national, the US citizen parent must have resided in the US for a total of 10 years prior to the birth of the child, with five of the years after the age of 14.  An exception for people serving in the military was created by considering time spent outside the US on military duty as time spent in the US."

That means that even if there was a massive conspiracy that fooled the Honolulu newspapers into making that birth announcement, Obama was born a citizen anyway according to the rules that had been in play since 1953. This is just another way to keep Sheriff Joe's base fired up - ignorant goobers who will believe anything if it serves their hateful agenda.

Also read today's lead editorial in the Republic, "Citizens Suffer in Arpaio's Wars." I hope this is the beginning of the end of Arpaio.  It sure should be. NOBODY (except the perpetrators) tolerates crimes against children.  And it wasn't 5, 10 or 20.....but over 400 serious crimes for which there was no follow-up.  Plus, , this matter was reportedly covered in the Tribune's Pulitzer Prize winning investigative series of articles on MCSO, "Reasonable Doubt," in 2008, and which Arapio arrogantly dismissed.  Now suddenly, after this has had the national news, he's suddenly coming up for air with bogus and insulting apologies, etc., etc.  I sure hope more public figures will be calling for his resignation.

I would like to bring just one thing to the Shurf's attention.   That is if he can be brought out of his delusional slumber for a minute. The Shurf asks what Raul Grijalva has to do with Maricopa County and states that Grijalva should keep his nose out of Maricopa County business.    Well, if you take a moment to look, a large portion of Maricopa County is IN Grijalva's congressional district. So Shurf, maybe the congressman DOES have reason to comment about your massive failures.

This just in from the Globe!  But I did not get the end of the story because it was cut off.

"Mr. Harold Biganus reports that he just had an I told you so moment at Arpaio's expense.  He has long joked with and actually gotten serious with Arpaio about keeping his aged balls on a leash and in fact convinced Mr. Arpaio to invest in underwear having a special ball pouch to keep then under control.  Wednesday afternoon Mr. Arpaio was getting into the elevator in the Wells Fargo building.  His phone rang and he reached for it in the crowded elevator, inadvertently dislodging his balls from their safekeeping pouch.  They rapidly fell through the right leg of his trousers and hit the side of his shoe, and were deflected through the elevator door just as it closed and Mr. Arpaio was heard to make a gasping yelp."

OK, I thought it was a funny vision.  But it is incomplete because I don't know if the elevator went up or down.

When will this occupation of the US by illegals end.Ask a Mexican when he / she will end their occupation and return to Mexico.Sixteen people were found severely injured after police served a search warrant at a drophouse in Avondale late Wednesday, officials said.A Department of Public Safety task force served the search warrant at about 7 p.m. Wednesday at the house in the area of 109th Avenue and Locust Lane.Inside the house were a total of 23 people including seven suspected human smugglers and 16 victims, authorities said. When officers entered the house, the suspected smugglers attempted to run out of the master bedroom, severely cutting themselves in the process. Two of the victims had broken ribs, cuts and bruises and were believed to have been beaten by the smugglers, according to DPS.Authorities found two semi-automatic guns and several pounds of marijuana in the house.Four of the men inside the house are facing charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, human smuggling and aggravated assault.DPS said they believe this is one of the most severe cases of abuse in a drophouse they have investigated. The 23 people are believed to be undocumented immigrants and were turned over to immigration authorities.

I normally keep it clean on here.  But all I can think when I look at Arpaio is "Fucking Cocksucker."  The outrage over these poor kids is just way too much.  I would be angry if a deputy did not stop to help a kid that fell off a bike and skinned a knee.  I would think that would be a way to develop respect in the child for the uniform and to do the right thing.  That pompous fuck Arpaio bellyaches about people making sure kids respect the uniform and teach them to respect the Sheriff.  How does ignoring sexual assault of a child and allowing it to continue develop respect for the uniform or for law and order.  Nothing he does makes any sense, unless you consider that he only thinks of himself, his popularity, and friends that pay him through donations. Being Sheriff matters to Joe.  Acting like a Sheriff is not part of being Sheriff.

Sorry,  I will put my dignity back on now.

You also forgot the 14th Amendment provides automatic citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil. Hawaii is a part of the United States, again making Obama a citizen.

Gerry_C

I was having a thought Tina about what Arpaio said and when he said it.  Between the time these crimes were ignored and when the Trib put out Reasonable Doubt, Arpaio testified in a video recorded depo in which he talked about having complete confidence in his Chief Deputy.  At that point in time Arpaio clearly knew all about the ignored cases as the letters exist from El Mirage to prove it.  Yet, the guy that allegedly ran his department is not even dropped a little bit on the confidence scale.  With a control freak like Henderbulk, there is no way this did not get the notice up top.

Gerry, your feelings about this situation are shared by many others,I assure you. As I was getting ready to start my day this morning,I started thinking(yea,I know Bnbk think?). If AARPiehole could so easily ignore all these child abuse cases in the Hispanic & illegal immigrant communities, sure leaves one to wonder, what other crimes has he been willing to ignore. Has he ignored reports of missing children ? What about murder cases ? Has he just made it a policy to ignore crime in general in the immigrant communities ? Was this just part of a extremist right wings plan to help along RuSSell Pearce's policy of "attrition through enforcement" or in this case non enforcement. I truely suspect that this is the case. This is a very dangerous situation we have here in Maricopa County,Federal intervention is needed now more than ever. The Feds need to step in & put MCSO into receivership before more damage is caused & AARPiehole has a chance to destroy all evidence.

No Gerry, you said it right. No reason to put any dignity back on.

Arpaio doesn't give a crap about sexual assualt victims.  He only cares about himself and him being the Sheriff of Maricopa County.

According to Arpaio....there are no rules that can't be broken in the name of his being Sheriff and his re-election bid.

Thanks for saying it, Gerry.

MCSO, in ANY form or function, has NO AUTHORITY regarding the birth certificate of ANYONE, unless fraud is perpetrated in Maricopa County. The 'posse' has the same authority of you and me, nothing more or less. We could call the Hawaiian officials and say, "Hi, I'm conducting an investigation to assist the Maricopa County Sheriff and we need to look into birth records for the week of August 1st, 1961. Can you help with that?"

They say, "I'm with the posse at MCSO and we're trying to hang the president by proving he is not a citizen of the United States. Can you help?"

Either way, the authority is the same.

The elderly guy says he is doing this to help the President.

Right.

Sort of like a needy hypochondriac hooked on the sympathy of others.  "I've got cancer.  Will you miss me when I am gone."  Guess it was not cancer after all when it comes time for the hair to fall out from the chemo.  Arpaio keeps talking tough and carrying on because he knows there is no real threat.  In the face of certain assassination, he tells the world he is ready and armed with his .50 cal machine gun for any and all comers and defiantly stares down the cartels as they ignore him and make money.  Perpetually under assassination threat when they are not real.  Could we refer to him as an assochondriac?

He is so ineffective, one wonders if he is on the cartel payroll and these threats are just to hide his illicit business transactions.  Perhaps that is why he accuses so many of scammy business dealings.

Rob
Rob

This always cracks me up.If any of the Cartels wanted him gone...it would have happened long ago. They've gotten to anyone they wanted to in Mexico, with security much tighter than what Arpaio has.

But, why should they?  He's the best thing going for them.  With his focus on the real dangerous elements, you know, the dry cleaners, pipe fitters and janitors (certainly not on pedophiles and child rapists) the Cartels can keep on going....

Follow the money trail. If I recall there was a special action taken by the BOS to transfer in several new investigators to the SVU because of the new contract(s), however none of those transfers ever made it, they went to the human snuggling unit.

Someone is going to get hammered over at MCSO about the El Mirage investigation and I'm pretty sure it isn't going to be Arpaio!
