Bryan Stewart, a.k.a. 'Rick Valentini,' Gets 54 Years in Prison For Presumed Murder of Jamie Laiaddee

Bryan Stewart, a.k.a. "Rick Valentini," is headed up the river.
Bryan Stewart, a.k.a. "Rick Valentini," was in Maricopa County Superior Court this morning where he was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the presumed murder of his ex-girlfriend Jamie Laiaddee.

Laiddee's body was never found, but while Stewart was in police custody, he was heard telling other inmates that he disposed of her body in a way that police would never find it (at one point, Stewart claimed he fed her body to pigs. More on that below).

In addition to the 22 years for the murder, Stewart was sentenced yesterday to 32 years in prison for other crimes related to the murder -- he got 20 years on fraud scheme charges and 12 years for fraud and weapons charges.

Laiaddee was last seen by Stewart on March 18, 2010, outside of her Chandler home.

Laiaddee's estranged father, who lives in California, called police after speaking to Stewart, who told him he hadn't seen her in about 10 weeks.

Stewart was questioned by police and told them the two broke up the day before she was last seen -- right after she said she was moving to Denver to find a new job.

Stewart, however, was an obvious person of interest in her disappearance -- and when he was caught driving her car after she was reported missing, it certainly didn't help change his status.

Shortly after Laiaddee was reported missing, he was stopped by Scottsdale police for an unrelated traffic warrant. The car he was driving belonged to his missing ex-girlfriend, and credit cards he was using were determined to belong to her, too.

According to the police report, while in police custody, Stewart told fellow inmates that he shot Laiaddee with a sawed-off shotgun. He told the men he got rid of her body in a way police would never find her.

At first, Stewart said her body had been "fed to the pigs." He then changed his story, saying she'd been cut up and put into bags.

He changed his name to have a clean record and get rid of the obvious history of fraud and violence he had in his past- no one should be allowed to change their name if they commit a crime. He didn't change his name for any other reason than to dupe someone else- we had a sex offender here in AUstralia who recently killed a lady named Jill Meagher (he changed his name before killing her too).

If you knew your life was at stake / wrongful imprisonment and you had
helped your ex create a new identity and run away, you'd be spending
every single minute of your time tracking that person down to prove he /
she was alive. He has not done that because he knows she's dead.
Sociopaths almost always take the stand because they believe they're
smarter than everyone else. He could have provided information that
would have cast reasonable doubt, like what was the alias he helped
create for her? Where does that lead? Where was she headed? Where are
the emails of correspondence etc. It would have been easy to cast doubt
that she was dead if she really was alive.

Bryan is right where he belongs  in jail so that he can't pull his schemes on other women or unsuspecting people. If she had given him the car as has been claimed then why was the title  of the car not in his name? This guy is just a bad actor who could not even keep his mouth shut to fellow inmates as he bragged of how he killed her.

She had him investigated after hiring a lawyer to defend him against a burglary charge.  She was making over $100,000 a year as a medical supplies salesperson.  He worked at a gym as a personnel trainer.  He admitted that she paid the "big" bills.  He referred to her as a "sugar momma" to one of his clients.

The guy is a pathological liar and deadbeat.  Why would she leave him her credit cards and driver's license behind.  I suspect that there was an argument and then foul play.

It's a shame that these women don't take the time to look past the shallow facade so many of these guys cast.  By the time they realize who the guy really is, it's often too late.

I hope she did leave and is alive and well somewhere.

I wonder if Jamie found out about his past and she was gonna leave him and thats why he killed her.

It's been noted in news articles that Bryan was initially the first person to show any signs of worry regarding Jamie's whereabouts. He called the President of the Alumni club for University of Michigan students and asked if she had seen Jamie or heard from her. Bryan thought that only a family member could report someone missing and on May 28th he called Jamie's father and told him to report his daughter missing. Oh, and the car he was driving? Jamie bought that for him. Just because the vehicle is registered in her name doesn't mean Bryan wasn't allowed to drive it. Same thing goes for her credit cards. Who do you think could afford them or had the best credit?

I don't think Bryan is a pathological liar. I think he simply takes shortcuts when retelling a story and the jury didn't like that. I'm thinking that Jamie either disappered and doesn't want to be found or that she killed herself. Even news of a new job wasn't enough to change her attitude.

A misfit from beginning to end....He is only 1 out of millions in the world that are evil. Life inprisonment too good. Electric chair is the only way. I feel strongly, others feel same.

Kind of scary that the police state that we have created lets a guy get convicted of 'presumed' murder. Be careful what you wish for people.

sounds like that pathetic sack of shit is getting what he deserves if you ask me. a Nice long prison sentence where he can't hurt anyone.

No body and no weapon.   The only evidence is the word of some other guys in jail?    He's an idiot or he never would have been convicted.    Plus, he's an inconsistent liar...which goes to him being an idiot.    See kids?    Stay in school.

@hotshotexpressfl You know why you don't like cameras in malls and highways?

Because you like speeding and shoplifting, you thief! That's why the likes of you oppose cameras! But thankfully there are smart people that see through you and appreciate the importance of hidden cameras to keep an eye on you and stick you in the slammer for every instance of theft from malls and stores.

And as regards to no body found, you look dumber than the defendant and that speaks volumes! You don't need the body to determine beyond a reasonable doubt that the piese of shit defendant did it. Thank God the jury were smarter than you! I hope you will never draw jury duty because you're BUTT-HURT, probably because you can't find a job and a girl due to your own stupidity

@lsmith24 I hope her parents are able to bury her one day because she was loved and loved other people- unlike that guy who doesn't know how to feel love for anyone but himself.

@Brad Botanel you sound like a nut case, just like Bryan Stewart. Can't believe you would post such an idiotic statement such as this -- someone should investigate you.

Except that why then did he say she planned her whole identity change and he helped her? Why would he call up looking for her?

Most of the comments seems to be supportive of this guy....and questioning his sentence and the evidence.    WHAT ABOUT THIS POOR GIRL????????  Obviously he did it if he was driving around in her car and using her credit cards.  He should have gotten life in prison or the death sentence!  This was someone's daughter!  We are a country who supposedly values and supports women, but apparently not everyone is being raised this way anymore!  Your comments made me physically sick.

That is Bryan's picture. I knew him for close to ten years. Would never have thought that he could have done this. He was always very nice and upbeat. Everyone that knew him from Gold's Gym was surprised.

Evidence of Murder can be left behind without a body being left behind.

--- Cell Phone Records: Verify defendant's whereabouts if claiming to be out-of-town from victim's residence

--- Financial Records: Defendant purchases Murder weapons & clean-up supplies (Hatch, Ax, Plastic Sheeting/ Drop Cloths, Bleach, etc.)

--- Video Surveillance: Defendant making the purchases with the victims' credit card

No Body = No Crime . . . is No Longer

Walter,

Lying is used to cover up and hide information. Once you lie EVERYTHING else you have to say in your defense becomes suspect. Once your caught lying then who's to say that when you say you're tell the truth you your not still lying. Also if what you say is the truth the story will not change EVER. The fact that HE had her credit cards and her car after he'd said she had moved to Colorado would in effect seem to be what would probably be foul play involved. I agree he's an idiot, keeping her car and credit cards were the nails in his coffin.

Other circumstantial evidence includes motive (the break up) inconsistent story (we broke up, she went to Denver but left me her car and credit cards) along with the the prison stories which explain the lack of a body.

@juliew3154  and you are just another scorned woman who probably been lied and cheated on numerous times.telling a lie doesnt make you a killer and whether he did or not the constituion and bill of rights says you cant convict someone without a victem or murder weapon and its violated everyday in this piece of shit country.

It is really sad that Jamie is gone. But I wonder why the police didn't interview the suspect's ex-wives to establish a pattern of past violence against women. I think it's because they didn't want to hurt their case. A pathological liar is not necessarily a murderer. A murderer is a violent person. The police found the most likely suspect and got their conviction. Bryan deserves to go to jail for being a deadbeat. Maybe Jamie found out about his past.

How great would it be if murderers could just get away with it because a body wasn't found. That's how serial killers in the past got away with it and killed so many. He is a lowlife who took away someone who was loved. He'll never know how to feel love.

He wasn't living in her house. He signed a lease on a condo on March 15th which he moved into shortly after having last seen Jamie.

@aliceallenmiller @hotshotexpressfl Not only did he lie, he also had her car and was using her credit cards. He had a history of fraud and using women a, he also changed his name to hide who he really was. Just another psycho like Scott Peterson the scumbag. No doubt he was a man with a mommy issue.
