• A simple life sentence without parole would be punishment enough and save the taxpayers millions upon millions of $$'s for all the years in the courts and the endless, ad-naseum media coverage which will never end. Haven't we had enough of Loughner taking all media. How do the victims' families move-on when it never ends?  Think about who had "career" and "political" gain from "capturing" a serial killer?  Once Goudeau was in prison, and there were more killings the police used the same drawing to hunt down the "new" killers. Why would they use the same drawing they used for Goudeau?   Who profits from all this?  Who gains politically?  All this is part of the bigger picture of criminal justice system in Arizona. "Tough on crime" does not explain letting over 500 sex crimes cases go un-investigated or simply "cleared". Studying criminal law and justice, trying to make sense of what we read in the media and how the justice system works.  Maybe someone who has lived here longer can shed some light on all this. It's much bigger than Goudeau and should concern ALL people.

• We do not condone murder, cruelty or inhumanity to man. But what's in the media today with a sheriff who has hundreds of cases where people have been harmed for life but can simply apologize. Then we have this case where an individual is sentenced to over a thousand years??   What do you sentence a county sheriff who has been allowed to destroy so many lives for so many years? And his accomplices who remained silent??  There have been horrific crimes committed that have gone unpunished. When justice is this unbalanced it raises questions about who goes free and who receives over a thousand of years?   Who will be next? If the justice system works, then it's the sheriff's turn. The horrific deaths/murders are well-documented; add over 500 sex crimes cases cleared or with no investigation then it seems like at a minimum 75 years per case x 500 = 37,500 years. We're researching sentencing to see how all these cases work, so maybe some informed person might run the comp on the two cases. Equal justice for all certainly does not mean one goes free while the other gets sentenced to over 1,100 years.
