Police say Larissa Garcia Killed her 79-year-old husband for "financial reason."
A Phoenix woman is heading to the big house after pleading guilty to charges that she killed her 79-year-old husband -- before dumping his body on an Indian reservation and setting it on fire -- back in 2005.

Larissa Garcia's late husband, Daniel Garcia, was the father of at least 30 children, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Garcia pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of manslaughter. This morning, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison -- the maximum sentence -- by Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Kristin Hoffman.

Daniel Garcia, Larissa Garcia's husband of 10 years, was last seen on May 2005.

Phoenix police told New Times at the time of Larissa's arrest -- July of last year -- that she was always considered a person of interest in her husband's disappearance. However, there was never enough evidence to charge her with a crime.

In July 2010, however, the Phoenix PD's missing persons detail uncovered new evidence that led them straight to Larissa Garcia.

Once in police custody, and confronted with the evidence, Garcia sang like a bird -- she admitted  killing her husband, and even took police to where she dumped his body.

Police determined that the murder took place at the couple's home at 4600 North 14th Place in Phoenix but that Garcia moved the body to Chinle -- on the Navajo Indian Reservation -- and set it on fire.

Police say the murder was financially motivated.

I met both Daniel and Larissa they were clients of mine. I knew something was not right when Larissa started showing up without Mr. Garcia to pay a loan and once even tried to borrow money without his consent. I advised her we could not do that that I needed to speak to Mr. Garcia before giving her a loan she got mad and told me that she was going to send negative dark energy my way. She was an evil woman that was only using Mr. Garcia for his money. He was a veteran and received good money. When I heard the news of him missing I knew Larissa was at fault and I was right.

first of all she is native American full blooded. second of all daniel was the mexican, and his last name was garcia they got married and that is how she got her mexican last name. So there you have that. I know the family so you cant tell me im wrong. She leaves behind two older daughters and two boys as well. No one ever stops to think who they affect when they comment on here. The poor boys dont know what happened all they know is that they were pulled out of their homes and can never return. Its sad because the boys are good boys. Great kids lost now because of their mothers decision. It is a crazy case but none the less tragic for all who have lived it. Daniel doesnt have over 30 kids that is a straight up lie. People dont check their resources before printing a story, they just like to drum up ratings or get a great headline such as this one! may god bless all their kids! They are the ones suffering.

Well that's what your govenment is condoning.  You'll have to ask them if it's okay for you to do that.

Sounds like you are saying the U.S. shouldn't be held accountable for something that happened years ago.  If that's your belief, than you would believe it's okay if Larisa wasn't charged for her husbands death?  What's fair is fair. Right?  Thought so. There isn't a rebuttal in the world to historical fact, only continued ignorance that is breed into much of todays society.

What if your family was on the other end?  Would you say the same thing?  I highly doubt it.  Do you agree?  Thought so.  You are right, people need to move on rather than be oppressed.  However, it doesn't change what happened or the lack of compensation for the Native Americans.

Larisa shouldn't have received 10 years for a manslaughter charge, given her clean criminal background history.  Daniel Garcia fathered many children by different women, according to the report.  Maybe his other children were jealous Daniel was with a younger woman, thus, could have conceivably committed the crime.  Besides, investigators lie to get someone to confess falsely everyday in this country. Where's the justice there?

How old is that savage? Damn-it fuck, she reminds me of that infected zombie hag in that wheeler on the modern "Dawn of the Dead" flick. Surely, she didn't marry an ancient, who's old enough to be her grand daddy for love. It was probably the moolah. But the old fucker had 30 children. WTF this weird case doesn't make sense.

Her name is Larisa Garcia, not Larissa. Double-check names, especially in a homicide case like this.

No amount of money will compensate what the government has done centuries ago. I agree that you should move on, but to "forgive and forget"? Forgive maybe, that's an individual question, but to forget history?--never. Instead, what the government should do is give ultimate jursidiction to tribal leaders and eliminate "Indian Policy". And giving tribal PDs the federal power to arrest non-Natives who commit crimes on tribal lands. At least, this is a start.

It's not savage, it's Native American to those educated enough to know the difference.  Your government (United States), has yet to be held accountable for all the genocide and war crimes against Native Americans in the past.  "Westward Expansionism",  what a joke.  More like "Westward Genocide."  Hopefully the world will know the U.S. has many skeletons in its closet. Your barking up the wrong tree fella. As far as the age difference between Daniel and Larisa,  "How come you wouldn't say the same thing about the "Gold-Digging Kardashian who broke up with Humphries, the NBA star?"  The only true ugly zombie, is the one that dwells in your heart.

Sarah: that was the spelling provided by police, but I agree; that extra "s" changes everything -- especially in a homicide case like this...

Not quite exactly. What you are promoting, is the death of others. This ghastly woman murdered someone for the sole purpose of finacial reasons. And yet, you are saluting it. That would make you the savage/zombie. Not me.

How is it that she's Native American? Especially with a Spanish Mexican surrame like Garcia? Hon, Garcia is not Native American. Much less, not even Dine/Navajo. She is not Native. Perhaps an "Indian" from Mexico, but not from the U.S. side. She looks Mexican to me.

It could be an extremely common name. An employer doing a background check on a Larissa Garcia applying for a job might see this article and deny Ms. Garcia a job, not knowing that this is Larisa Garcia, a different person. Also, Larisa is the name provided in all Maricopa County Superior Court records. The police are only involved to a certain point and correct spelling is not part of their job. Also, you spelled my name wrong as well, though I have the feeling from your sarcastic response that it was intentional. Thanks for the chuckle.

Most Pima and Papago Indians have Spanish surnames. Keep in mind that the Spanish have had a an influence in Arizona since the 1690's.
