Sheriff Joe Arpaio Testifying Now -- Here's the Link

arpaio and driscoll 031110.jpg
Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Washington D.C. lawyer Robert Driscoll, who helped the sheriff work on the racketeering case against county officials.

We just wanted to make sure y'all had the link to watch Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio testify this morning in the State Bar disciplinary proceeding for his former political ally, County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

Click here for the state Supreme Court's Web site, then hit the either "in progress" or "view hearing video" for the live proceeding.

Arpaio, as many of you know, shares the blame with Thomas for the shady tactics used against their political enemies in the county. But it'll be Thomas who loses his job if the Star Bar panel, led by Disciplinary Judge William O'Neil, decides to disbar him.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio prepares to testify on Tuesday.

The sheriff expects to be re-elected next November.

It's started now -- the sheriff is hoarse and says he has the flu.

We'll have more coverage on the hearing later today.

UPDATE: Read Stephen Lemons' coverage of today's testimony here.

You can tell Joe is lying just by watching him.  You don't need to hear any words from his mouth.  His body language tells it all.

He hasn't "forgotten" everything.  He knows what he is doing up there.  He senility isn't so bad that he still can't handle lying.  He breathes lying.

Watch his actions they are very revealing.  His words only back up the lies his body tells.

So am I right in stating that Arpiao denied ordering the arrest of Stapley contradicting what Hendershott stated under oath?  Can the court charge one or both of them for lying under oath, if so what are the possible penalties?  Well... they nailed Capone, Chicago's crime boss  for tax evasion didn't they?  Lying under oath should  at least place another nail in Arpiao's, or Hendershott's coffin... shouldn't it?  Well at least in the "Court of Public Opinion" it should.

Honestly folks, and I did watch only the last part of Arpiao's testimoy today, I'm positive I DO NOT want a man with his level of memory loss and lack of management oversight skills as Sheriff!  He did seem pretty nervous, again with the hands, beady eyes and a few of his facial tics.  I found it hilarious after one of his answers, I don't remember the specific question, his lips almost sucked back into his head, I'm thinking it probably had the same effect on his kiester..

America's self-proclaimed toughest sheriff is having a real tough time recalling anything other than his own name. He's also having a tough time accepting any responsibility for anything he or his subordinates do. Toughest sheriff my ass...he's just a sleazy pud-knocker.

"Sheriff, did your mother have any children who didn't die before being born?"

"I don't recall. She might have. I think I read someplace or maybe someone told me that she did, but I just don't recall. After all, that was over 79 years ago when I was born"...

Rpiehole has changed his story so many times he can't even remember the simplest of details.  Remember, all of the "delegating" that he professed to do was done with the full knowledge that complaints were POURING into his office from various MCSO staff with regards to Hendershott and his ..emm.."activities" - so Arpaio through this entire county to the wolves by assigning this scumbag Hendershott, who was completely untrustworthy, to push them around.  Good job Arpaio...hope the indictments are not far off.  And, by the way. since WHEN was good little DO Stoddard looking for "GANG ACTIVITY" by reading a defense attorney's private files?  Stoddard is a foolish little detention officer...NOT a law enforcement officer with any "gang" or "investigative" background.  His job was simply to transport inmates to court...NOT to play pretend gang squad.  Another thing that will bite Arpaio in the ass.

Wondering
Wondering

Juat wondering how a man who has been in law enforcement for 20 years can say I don't know if we have a policy regarding evidence??? He was by far the biggest waste of time in this whole thing. Aubechon and Thomas will probably tell more than he did and it's their asses on the line

"Thank you Mr Arpaio, you are dismissed.  Did you drive or do you need a ride to your office?"

I am not even watching it but I am sure it will be nothing but," I don't remember, I don't recall, I did nothing, staff made all the decisions,  I was on TV in New York that day," etc, et. al. ad. nauseum.

"I was confused then. I am confused now." regarding questioning....doesn't get any clearer than that

Lying under oath about something as important as a decision to arrest and he doesn't remember what evidence specifically was provided to him?  He READ it in a newspaper?  This guy needs to be cuffed and stuffed.

October 17, 2011:SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - Texas law enforcement officials say several Mexican drug cartels are luring youngsters as young as 11 to work in their smuggling operations.Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, told Reuters the drug gangs have a chilling name for the young Texans lured into their operations. They call them 'the expendables,'" he said

Arpaio is so detached from the operations, you have to wonder what we're paying him for. I haven't heard one statement from him that indicates he is even remotely involved in cases, decisions or taking responsibilities.

This is the guy who is supposed to be running MCSO. He seems not to know anything about anything going on at MCSO.

Is this the kind of person WE want running the sheriff's department?

When asked a question that he can't lie his way out of he simply replies, "I don't recall".

I've never seen Rpiehole as subdued as he is here. Where's all the bluster Joe? You sure aren't acting like America's "Toughest Sheriff", but, more like a scared little girl.

79? Is that all, Tommy? He looked a lot older today. I don't believe this is the way he prefers to be the center of attention.

Tommy, Joe's mama left before he was born.  She couldn't handle the idea of carrying such a disgrace.

What year was the Sheriff born?  I think that it was right around the time Adolf offed himself ... and I do believe in reincarnation.. what do you think?  They do look somewhat alike in stature as well and they both are able to hypnotize an audience with the "obedient slave", "I am your master", "Keep your eyes on the Mexican (Jews) and NOWHERE else" and "Do what I say, not what I do" subliminal undertones.

Tommy Collins
Tommy Collins

It wasn't a waste of time, actually. His 'testimony' simply confirmed that he's a liar and the panel will disregard anything that he said. It also validated to all who watched and listened that he has no business trying to run such a department as the MCSO. So, yes, there was value to having him 'testify'.

Tina

You called that one right.  Thanks to the link Stephen provided, I watched & listened to it all for except the first 10 or 15 minutes when it must have been mentioned that he supposedly had the flu.  He did appear to be a bit under the  weather, but not enough for a few quickly stated and prepared "I don't recall" responses. But I suspect when the experts examine his testimony and perhaps do their own questioning later, his "not feeling well" will conveniently be used as an excuse later when he's pressed on his slip-shod answers contradicting previous statements.

Can anyone forget the belligerent temper tantrum he had defaming judge Donahoe and defending "his" detention officer Adam Stoddard for the theft of the atorney's papers in open court behind her back?  Today he was dismissive of the matter, acting like hevaguely remembered that it had to do with papers, uttering very slippery responses which the attorney did not dwell on, probably because Thomas/Aubuchon were not directly involved. But there was "role model"  Arpaio encouraging the same type of unlawful behavior in the your Stoddard.  "It's okay if you're working for me, boy."

The conflicting testimony of Hendershott & Arpaio as to who ordered Stapley's arrest ("He did it, not me") was something else.

We have JoKKKe AARPiehole & Dave Hendershitt throwing one another under the bus, this is just great to watch. We have the worlds biggest media whore now answering all the questions with "Idon't recall", "I'm not sure",ect. & saying "I may have read about it in the media",after all the while, he was the one giving interviews to the media. AARPiehole is unfit for public office,he is a liar & a corrupt criminal & in my belief has committed malfeasance.AARPiehole needs to be removed from his position as Maricopa County Sheriff. This is great ammo for the Stauffer camp. Vote Stauffer !

Of course he doesn't recall. Let's not forget how old and senile the stupid old man is...

That said, I think he'd recall telling Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk that he did in fact have probable cause to arrest Stapley.

I think he'd recall coming up with the idea to charge Judge Donahoe with the 3 felonies.

Hopefully, the FBI is there, listening to and recording his drivel. This is some serious stuff and can help bolster the feds' case against the FF of MCSO.

Someone needs to remind him he's under oath and expected to tell the truth, for a change. He's testifying in front of professionals who understand written law. He's not testifying in front of the Bald Bunion of Pinal. He's not fooling anyone but himself.

"To the best of my recollection..." Not good enough, Shurf.

We will just have to wait and see who Thomas says was the culprit in ordering the arrest. Let's see who Thomas throws under the bus. Unless of course he has already made a deal and will more than likely not have to testify.

Its getting better by the minute...

Sheriff says he didn't order Stapley's '09 arrest, but Hendershott testified last week that he did. The sheriff also told the Arizona Republic in '09 that he ordered the arrest. Who's lying?

HIs middle initial is "M", by the way. I've heard speculation that his birth middle name was Mussolini, but OurPile had it changed as an adult. I haven't been able to verify that, however.

I don't know Jason I can see cowering.. I'm pretty sure the King of France was not all that anxious for the beheading,  "Lionheart" probably could have "lived" without HIS disembowelment and Joan of Arc was understandably quite tense when they lite the fire under her  kiester.  But, alas in every case the soon to perish displayed courage under fire, evidently not EVERYBODY is born with a backbone, balls and some people just can't comprehend the comcept of HONOR.

Thomas will at least throw Rachel and Lisa under the bus .... my god what am I saying, it's starting to sound like a soap opera!  Who's screwing who, whose going to end up getting screwed ... or will the just up and screw the whole damned crew?  Personally I still FIRMLY believe that Thomas' hispanic wife has him bound in a closet and tortures him daily.  She only feeds him 1 tortilla per day along with a little tequila to wash it down.

Candy Andy is a coward and hasn't even appeared at his own hearings. He knows he's gonna be disbarred.

I'd like to see him there, even if he has to be brought in kicking and screaming like the 4-year-old he is.

Bingo!  And let the taxpayers shell out the millions of dollars in lawsuits that could have been avoided.  I don't doubt that the lawyers for those who have filed these lawsuits are jumping for joy watching and listening to Arpaio and Hendershott - Lord help us if this guy gets another shot at the taxpayers of Maricopa County.
