Occupy Phoenix Folks, Tea Partiers Earn Phoenix "Angriest Cities" (Gulp) Honors

Regardless of political affiliation, people across the country are pissed off about one thing or another, but there are only a few cities that -- as a whole -- are more pissed off than Phoenix, according to a recent ranking of pissed off cities.

The Daily Beast website has ranked Phoenix one of "America's 10 Angriest Cities" based on the number of protesters who showed up during the "Occupy Phoenix" demonstration and the  demonstrators who attended a 2009 Tea Party rally.

See our coverage of the "Occupy Phoenix" rally here.

Phoenix, according to the rankings, is the sixth angriest city in the country.

Below is how the Daily Beast came up with its rankings:

To find America's 10 Angriest Cities, we combined the turnout totals per capita for the Tea Party's April 15, 2009 protests and the Occupy Wall Street protests on October 15, 2011--with data from Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight Blog, and reliable reports and estimates--to find the number of protesters per million residents in cities with more than 500,000 people. At least 500 people had to show up to each protest to be considered for our ranking.

According to the rankings, with about 5,000 people who showed up for the 2009 Tea Party protest, and the 1,000 who showed up to "occupy" Cesar Chavez Plaza last weekend, Phoenix has 3,905 protesters per million people.

Below is what the Beast has to say about Phoenix:

The first major Tea Party protests in April 2009 garnered five times as many people than the recent Occupy Wall Street protests, but at least one Phoenix conservative--a blogger for a libertarian website--showed up to last week's events with a message of solidarity. "They (conservatives) want to be heard too and express their general disillusionment with big corporations," Chris Haworth said. "There's a large dialogue and they want to be a part of it."

Tucson, according to the rankings, is actually angrier than Phoenix -- it ranked fifth with 4,204 protesters per million people.

Below is the Beast's take on Tucson:

Phoenix's neighbor to the south has had an even better protest turnout than the Arizona capital, and also trends toward the conservative side, with higher attendance during Tea Party events than Occupy Wall Street protests. Fifty-three people were arrested and cited on Sunday after refusing to leave Tucson's Armory Park.

Denver, Colorado earned the top spot on the list with 12,018 protesters per million people, followed by Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco.

Bogus stats.  Many of the disaffected would be occupiers in the Phoenix area no longer even have the personal resources to get downtown to "occupy" and that's a fact Jack.  People in AZ are lots more angry and lots more divided than what this article shows.

Uh, when I wrote "all", I meant intelligent, educated people. There are always the few, like yourself, that will oddly support a sinking ship. Hell, even Ghaddaffi and that sodomizer Cliton have their supporters.

Obama isn't even in the running. The top 3 candidates would be Nixon, Reagan and "Dickless George" (He picked Cheney as his running mate because he thought it would serve to make George Sr. stop calling him dickless.)

Actually, no. The educated and intelligent list Obama, Cliton, and Kennedy as the worst of all time. Try using the google machine.

Hey, don't forget that failure Carter. God, that was a disaster.

yes, yes, the Carter was awful. I try not to remind liberals of that disaster because it just really hurts them.

And exactly what kind of choices for candidates are there?   None of them are worth a damn which is why they are allowed to run for office.   No one with integrity can run.   You have to be approved and if you do happen to have some moral worthiness in your soul and become elected...you won't have it for long.   You'll be bribed or offered favors and they'll have evidence of it.   You'll be co-opted by one thing or another.   Don't blame the people for their elected leaders lack of brains and cold, slimey black hearts.

When you look at the caliber of the leadership elected by an ignorant, hate and fear driven electorate. I'm surprised we aren't #1.
