"Dream Act" Signed by California Governor Jerry Brown. KPHO Suggests the "Dream" Could Be Coming to Arizona. Ha!

Dream Act for Arizona? Shyeah...right.
The "Dream" came true for illegal immigrants in California over the weekend -- Governor Jerry Brown signed a version of the controversial Dream Act into California law Saturday. Now, local TV news station KPHO is suggesting the "Dream" may be coming to Arizona (insert Wayne Campbell's "Shyeah...and monkeys might fly out of my butt" here).

California's "Dream Act" makes illegal immigrants eligible to receive state financial aid to attend California universities and community colleges. A federal version of the bill failed in the United States Senate last year.

"Going to college is a dream that promises intellectual excitement and creative thinking,'' Brown says in a statement. "The Dream Act benefits us all by giving top students a chance to improve their lives and the lives of all of us.''

Opponents of the Dream Act say education grants should be reserved for those who are in the country legally.

"Citizens are having a hard enough time getting the classes they need now," Republican California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly wrote in a September 9 letter to Brown, obtained by California's The Standard Daily. "[California already offers] students in the country illegally in-state tuition; legally documented students from the next state over can only dream of such a benefit."

California joins New Mexico and Texas as the only three states in the country to qualify illegal immigrants for college financial aid -- and KPHO seems to think there's a shot at Arizona becoming the fourth.

KPHO ran a story on its website today under the headline "Dream Act Passed in California: Could Arizona be Next?"

The answer, simply, is no chance.

The local news hounds over at channel 5 point out that "we all know it's a long shot that Arizona's lawmakers would follow suit [in passing a version of the Dream Act]," but still suggest that it's possible -- which it isn't.

Arizona is responsible for one of the harshest immigration laws in the entire country, which seems to be representative of the anti-immigrant sentiment held by the apparent majority of the electorate -- which probably considers the Dream Act to be more of a nightmare than reasonable pathway to U.S. citizenship.

The immigration debate has become so heated in Arizona that even Republicans who once supported the Dream Act (Congressman Jeff Flake, we're looking in your direction) have flip-flopped on the issue and now oppose it in an attempt to appeal to Arizona's far-right-wing-nuts in upcoming elections.

Could Arizona be next in line for the Dream Act? Of course not, but thanks for the laugh, KPHO.

First of all why would u encourage something that America is trying to fight in illegal immigrants coming to America. That's like giving Guns to terrorist and saying don't attack us. It's all a little backwards to me. Also or own childrens schools have laid of hundreds of teachers and have had cut backs. But now we have money to give to illegals. Did I say backwards? The politicians need to get their hands out of the tax payers pocket. They can't even Budget what they alread get and they still Want more. The more taxes and bull crap that the politicians come up with means less liberty for us. This is completely taxation without representation. Abraham Lincoln said America can never be destroyed but from within. Use common sense people. Our liberty is under attack and it's ok with a lot of people. I am concerned for our nation.

You sound like a spoiled little kid that cries (hatefus, bitter, etc.) when someone doesn't give it what it wants. I disagree with you on the Dream Act, period.

Bobby
Bobby

Just a phony leftist/ethnic supremacist shill, with no valid arguments left, as I thought.

Bobby
Bobby

I don't care who brought them here, Governor Moonbeam is taking class seats and grant money from citizens of all cultures, that will be denied help while the "undocumented get the money. How hard is that for you to understand and how hard is it for you to see that it's unfair to the citizens? And as I said in my post, they already can go to college, but now they want to do so with the taxpayers help while citizens come in second. Why can't they work their way through school like countless generations of students did in the past and accept the fact that they are stealing a citizen students grant  money and should be gratefull for even being allowed to go to college in the U.S.? Rmember, all that's needed is that an illegal alien goes to school in the U.S. for three years, and then gets to go to college and steal citizen students places and money  Is that fair, since we both know that the illegal immigration isn't being controled?

Bobby
Bobby

If you support the Dream Act you are denying white black hispanic oriental and other students because it takes money from them and gives it to people that don't even belong here. If you had heard the reaction in California to Browns signing this abomination, you would see it goes far beyond just "white people". Illegal aliens are already being allowed into college illegally, against U.S. immigration law, and now Governor leftist Moonbean wants to reward them to boot. Why can't they get a job, which they are also allowed to do and PAY THEIR WAY THROUGH COLLEGE LIKE A LOT OF "WHITE" PEOPLE, since you like to cite them so much, have always done? What the hell makes them so worthy of taxpayers money?

More lies from booby. The dream act whether o a state or federal level doesn't just benefit mexicans, it obviously benefits all those that were brought here from other countries as children by their illegal alien parents. You have no heart to punish children for the actions of their parents. Hell, we should punish you for your parents giving birth to such a block headed unable to think for himself moron like yourself.

Bobby
Bobby

Yeah, funny. Look you boob, no one is punishing anyone except Governor Moonbeam, by denying longtime taxpaying citizens and their kids a seat and money to go to college in favor of the undocumeted, and yes, it's not only Mexicans, so what? As I wrote to L.C., why can't they work their way through school like countless generations of middleclass Americans used to? Why don't they do the honorable thing?

Bobby
Bobby

To answer your post more directly, why do you cite "White People" as being against the dream act and illegal immigration, when there are a half dozen other cultural groups in the U.S. that are also against this? What I'm I supposed to think?

Guest23
Guest23

Because it is "white people" that make up the largest portion of supporters who are against the dream act.

I also think that by calling cailfornias legislation "the dream act" causes quite a bit of confusion about what the dream act entails. The state version has to do with financial aid for illegal immigrants while the federal version focused on a path to citizenship for children of illegal immigranta that know no other life than being an american and it would be nothing less than cruel and unusual punishment to ship them back to a country where they do not speak the language, do no knpw the culture and are already assimilated into american society. I find those against the federal dream act to be cold hearted and unemphathetic in an extreme degree.

Bobby
Bobby

Guess, what, since you like to cite the "selfish" concerns of "white people" so much, it might be of interest to you to know that "white people" might be concerned because they pay the majority of taxes and are getting kind of sick seeing those taxes go to every cause but one that benefits them. I suppose non-white people never consider their self interests.

Bobby
Bobby

Oh, democracy at work huh, when you have a chip on your shoulder against white people. I've never advocated shipping these people back. But tell me, when does the law mean something? When ethnic activists says it does?  All any illegal alien from anywhere in the world now has to do is come to California, go to school for three years, and according to the sick leftist administration in Sacramento, California, and 'Governor Moonbeam, they get first shot at college money over citizens. Honestly, you can't see something bordering on insane here?

Bobby
Bobby

Friend, that's entirely up to you. These racist La Raza cretons don't hate themselves, AND I DON'T HATE MYSELF. You'll have to get over your own problems.

There will be no "nightmare act" for California citizens signed by Governor Moonbeam. As I write this, in fact, three months before I'm now writing this, Congressman Tim Donelly has already prepared a voter intitiative(we have those in California, just for crooks like Brown) that needs a mere half million signatures, which a state as large as California can get standing on one hand, to NIX THE DREAM, NIGHTMARE RATHER. It doesn't go into effect till 2013, and since millions of California citizens are already sick of drowning in the filty policies of the Democrats in Sacramento, it won't go into effect AT ALL. LONG LIVE ARIZONA, PEARCE.,ARPAIO, BREWER AND EVERY CITIZEN THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT SOVEREIGNTY.

It will come. Not soon but it will come. Same as immigration reform. Maybe not tomorrow but justice will come to Arizona.

Bobby
Bobby

Justice coming to Arizona would mean a safe border from criminal Mexico and the end of exploitation of American citizens by millions of foreign nationals that have no right whatever to be here until they're given permission, not before.

Jason

I have no problem paying for my groceries. White people are typically educated and/or serve in the military, so that's why the "refuse" to fill the jobs.

Bobby
Bobby

Jason, it's been proven a La Raza lie, that white people won't do jobs illegal aliens do. I've seen white people in my trips to nearly half the U.S. do every single kind of job illegal aliens do including some farming and ranching. I've seen white people  working in bed and breakfast Inns,(although some greedy owners have replaced them with illegal aliens to increase the bottom line and get rich without passing any savings to the guests), I've seen them do janitorial work, brick laying, masonry, roofing, .........every kind of job where illegal aliens haven't yet arrived at. IT'S ALL A RACIST LIE THAT WHITE PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO GET DIRT UNDER THEIR FINGERNAILS.

Guest23
Guest23

Booby, I asked politely for people, meaning you to dispense with the vitriol, why is it so hard for you to follow such a simple and honorable call to action.

It is no lie that white legal americans do not wan the jobs illegal immigrants do. It is proven in the news interviews with the farm owners who hire these people as well as interviews with these white legal americans themselves. It has also been proven I southern california decades ago when they raided strawberry fields using your logic and by lunch time of the first day over half the white workers didnt return for work and by the next day none returned.

Your political rhetoric and unsubstantiated lies do not change these facts.

Bobby
Bobby

Sorry friend, but I believe in calling them as I see them, so I'm calling you an arrogant ass. Vitriol? What kind of crap is it to keep referring to "white" people and telling lies about them in your authoritative and professorial manner, expecting afterward that the class should shut its mouth and be respectfull? It IS a lie that Americans do not want the jobs illegal immigrants do. It's only true, when illegal immigrants combined with the greedy employers keep depressing the wages that would give not only whites but others a living wage. The way illegal immigrants survive doing these "cheap"paying jobs, is by going to the state for help, which Americans never do when they do those jobs across the country where illegal aliens haven't yet invaded. Get it professeor?

State after state is beginning to stop in in fact. The Democ-rat party is in a dream world, if they thought that American citizens are going to take their abuse adinfinitum. No way!!

How is California going to able to afford giving out financial aid for college.    They've already cut back and done away with many social programs.   They can't maintain their own state and they want to give away college money to appease the political front.    California used to be a wealthy state.   When I went to junior college in 1972 the tuition was free.

Bobby
Bobby

Congressman Tim Donelly is taking care of it as we write. Signatures will be gathered by the exhausted and sick California citizens, sick of the Democrat crap, and we are going to veto it through our initiative process. It will go down in flames, we have till 2013 plenty of time.

Arizona will never see a DREAM Act. The GOP hates the criminal illegals and so do most of the citizens here.

As for the federal DREAM Act, that, too, will never see the light of day. Again, the GOP hates the criminal illegals and so do most of the citizens.

I hear Alabama now has the toughest law regarding the criminal illegals. Their law makes 1070 look like a joke. I wonder when Pearce will scurry over to Alabama and meet with their governor and their Republican Legislature?

Fuck the criminal illegals.

Bobby
Bobby

Jason, I agree with your post, but it isn't neccessary, in my opinion only, to give the liberals one inch of room to do their hypocritical "hate' thing by saying the GOP hates illegal aliens. That's how the left wants it characterized. Why not just say, that unlike the Democrats, the GOP, believes in U.S. immigration law, for the most part, where as the Democrats don't.

Guest23

Booby you are such a nimrod. Anyone can be for the federal dream act and still be conservative, perhaps compassionate conservatism may be a good descirptive word for the many independents that are not as dogmatic, cold hearted and as easily lead around by the nose as you. Your inabikity to debate, your lack of ability to consider any other view other than that of the republican reveals a person whose intellectual development is stunted. The two party system doesn't work if there is no compromise and this is what obama is mostly guilty of in his role as potus, but since he has been stone walled by conservative zealots that so ovbiously only think, if you can call it that, in their own self interest and still throw out common sense when confronted with facts, and appear to vote according to party line and not any sense of rationaility, than we have problems like we do now.

Bobby
Bobby

By the way, hundreds of people that called into a popular radio show in California to protest the Dream Act identified themselves as Democrats, and thousands of Democrat voters wrote E-mails to Governor Moonbeam protesting the Dream Act. Why? Because their kids, and many are legal hispanics, are also going to lose out to the illegal alien kids. So it's not exclusively a Republican thing to protest the Dream Act, legal Democrats iwth children are sikc of it too. You just don't know the facts.

Bobby
Bobby

Using adjectives that are negative against someone, doesn't prove the persons arguments are wrong. That's not debating. Pleae, Obama hasn't been stonewalled by anyone but his own selfish ambitions, being in the pockets, willingly of Wall Street, who are his main donors. Do some serious reading for a change.

That's why I served in the Army and they haven't. I work. I pay taxes.

I am sorry that these people have had such a hard life. But their solution does not solve their problem. It makes it worse.

In case you haven't noticed, the DREAM Act has failed each and every year it has ever been introduced. Regardless of the political makeup of Congress or the president's political affiliation, people, namely the state Legislature and/or Congress are simply are not interested in helping these people. W failed to get it passed in the 7 years (2001-2008) he was in office and Obama (2008-current) has had about as much luck as W. Dems controlled Congress for 2 years (2008-2010) and still failed to get it passed.

The only "redneck bigot" I see here are the people who either can't or won't open their eyes. Stop living in a delusional world where people actually give a fuck about these criminals and wake up. The real world is waiting for you.

Now leave me alone. I'm too busy to deal with weak-minded fools like yourself.

In the long run the dream act may have benefits and it is the humanitarian thing to do but there is a part of me that takes issue with it just like I do with the wars we have involved ourselves in... that we should put these resources to helping those of us here legally first and if there is money to spare than the govt can subsidize such actions (fat chance of that). At this point in time and economic situation it may be best to leave it to humanitarian organizations to fund illegal immigrant education. It can be a tough choice but when I am having a tough time deciding on which medication I have to choose between this month which depends on which one will keep me going with the least amount of suffering, I am just not capable of considering the luxury of philanthropy. I am curious to hear rational arguments for both sides... please leave the vitriol behind.

I am in favor of a federal dream act where children who were brought here by their parents should have an opportunity for citizenship if they do community service or join the military. If they will do this when the majority of those that are born citizens will not than I think they have proven themselves worthy and that they shouldn't be punished for their parents mistakes. This is just logical immigration reform, to pass legislation that helps those that have already spent years here and for most intents and purpose are americans exp for a legal technicality, appears to be a logical and rational decision.

the california dream act is coming to arizona only when the inevitable federal bailout of california comes and we'll all be paying for their ridiculous libtard policies.

now, where's the fucking hells angels story?
