D-Backs Ride To the Playoffs #8--Wily Mo Peña Bomb Bests Tigers in Detroit, June 24

Yeah, we know that the 2011 Arizona Diamondbacks are but one game from extinction at the hands of the formidable Milwaukee Brewers.

But it ain't over yet--and, besides, it was a blast getting here.

Back on June 24, in a seesaw battle up in Detroit, the D-Backs somehow snuck past the Tigers by a score of 7-6. Actually, we know just how Arizona won the thing:

Willie Mo Peña, a huge, very kindly man (he has his own non-profit foundation) who would last only a month or so with the Diamondbacks, hit a home run estimated at 454 feet to put his team ahead.

Juston Upton also made a sensational catch, and Kirk Gibson's first time back to Detroit as a manager was a rousing succcess.
