Should California Attorney General Kamala Harris Review the Investigation Into the "Suicide" of Rebecca Zahau?

California Attorney General Kamala Harris will not review the investigation into the death of Rebecca Zahau.
California Attorney General Kamala Harris decided yesterday that she won't review the San Diego County Sheriff Department's findings that the bizarre death of Rebecca Zahau, the girlfriend of Scottsdale-based Medicis CEO Jonah Shacknai -- who asked Harris to review the case -- was a suicide.

Harris says the AG's Office only reviews cases handled by local law enforcement "under very narrow circumstances."

"Some of the factors that are considered before committing the state's scarce resources include whether a clear conflict of interest exists, whether a local law enforcement agency has requested assistance, whether local investigative resources have been exhausted, and whether there are allegations of gross malfeasance by the investigative agency," the California AG's Office says in a letter to Shacknai. "Based on a review of [Shacknai's] request, we must decline your invitation to review this investigation at this time."

Despite the SDCSD's finding that Zahau's death was a suicide, there are still some lingering questions that have her family convinced her death was not by her own hand.

For starters, when she was found -- hanging naked from a balcony at Shacknai's Coronado mansion -- her hands and feet were bound behind her back.

Then, there are the findings of Pathologist Cyril Wecht, who reviewed Zahua's entire autopsy report and found -- among other strange findings -- unexplained head injuries inconsistent with the SDCSD's findings. More on that here.

At the very least, there are some unanswered questions surrounding Zahau's death that could perhaps use a fresh set of eyes. But we want to know what you think: should California Attorney General Kamala Harris investigate the case?

The boyfriend may have blamed her for the his child's accident...perhaps felt she was negligent in some way.  I don't know, but I can say for sure she did not kill herself.  Someone killed her with vengence.

There has been no verification whatsoever of a critical call made by her boyfriend that supposedly caused Rebecca to "hang herself". Did he make the call and what did he say? The "message" was "deleted?" By whom? New footprints found on balcony, unexplained trauma to her head by blunt forces, witness heard crying for help several hours before stated time of death, and the lies the police kept telling that parents were at the bedside of their son during the time of Rebecca's death. Turns out neither one was and there is no verification of where they actually were. In addition, the brother did NOT pass the lie detector test and a 2nd one was recommended but never given.

If you look into this story at all you'll quickly find that none of the "facts" Law Enforcement used to substantiate the suicide determination hold up.  Witnesses and evidence ignored or suppressed, none of the prime suspects alibis can be substantiated - press conference was an absolute FARCE with all of the incriminating signs of a murder conveniently left out so the public wouldn't question the suicide determination.  Now someone is purposely miscommunicating with the media to mislead the public into thinking it's all on the up and up.  If you live anywhere near Coronado or San Diego, CA - you should be very very scared.

The entire investigation is bogus.  Look at all the inconsistencies and misrepresentationspresented by law inforcement:- No investigation into the scream heard by a witness the night of Rebecca's death.  Absolutely no mention of it.??????- No mention of the abrasions found on Rebecca's scalp characterized by professionals  as suspicious. No mention of the blood found on her body.- Adams lie detecter proved INCONCLUSIVE according to court records.  Yet police  officials claim he passed the test and have not asked him to repeat the test.  What is that about?- Jonah Schacknai's former sister-in-law called Rebecca the night she died asking if  she could come over for a visit at 10:30pm. Really?  Was that checked out carefully??The list goes on and on.  As a former investigator, I believe the truth here has yet tobe revealed.  Until that happens the questions and doubt will continue.Wearewatchingu.

Sorry, this whole thing smells like a major cover-up. I strongly believe that that poor little boy suffered from an unfortunate, terrible accident while under Rebecca's care. Rebecca was murdered out of revenge or rage by the hands of someone (or perhaps by more than one) in that family. My initial feeling was a confrontation with Rebecca over the boy's death that had gone wrong and someone killed her and the suicide was staged by  Adam - since he seems to be the only person who can tie knots like that!

With Jonah's financial resources and connections, I believe that entire family - Jonah, Adam, ex-wife, sister in law and the entire local law enforcement knows exactly what really happened to Rebecca. The law enforcement can't be that incompetant. Too many inconsistencies and "red herrings" leads me to believe they are in on this whole operation.

I find this absolutely despicable that this preposterous suicide theory hasn't been alarming enough for the AG office to get off their butts and re-open this case already!!

My prayers go out to the victims (Max and Rebecca) and the Zahua family. The truth will prevail and justice will be served!

Sorry but she probably did kill herself. I mean, she just let the man's boy die while in her care - that would mess with any decent person's mind.

seems like it would be difficult to tie your ankles and feet after putting the noose around your neck, but I guess jumping off the balcony would make that easier.  it still makes no sense unless she was afraid she'd be able to free herself.

The prospect was too daunting; She did not want to cooperate with herself in her suicide attempt, so, based on the several sub-scalp hemorrhages found post-mortem it seems that she bludgeoned herself into submission before binding herself hand and foot and throwing herself from the balcony.

That's one determined suicide victim.
