Senator Lori Klein's Done Talking About Pointing Loaded Gun at Reporter

Senator Lori Klein's a bit of a gunslinger.
Don't bother asking state Senator Lori Klein about why she pointed a loaded gun at a reporter -- she's apparently done talking about it.

"It makes little sense to contribute to a media feeding frenzy that is driven by a few individuals who never miss the opportunity to advance an anti-2nd Amendment agenda," Klein says in a statement issued by the Senate.

Klein says she will no longer submit to interviews on the matter -- so we sent her an e-mail, to which we did not receive a response.

In case you missed it, in an article published in the Arizona Republic Sunday, reporter Richard Ruelas describes how Klein pulled out a loaded Ruger while sitting on a couch outside the Senate chamber and pointed it at him during an interview..

"She showed off the laser sighting by pointing the red beam at the reporter's chest," Ruelas writes.

Klein, Ruelas writes, then told him that the gun has no safety, but he need not worry because, "'I just didn't have my hand on the trigger.'"

Well, in that case...

Klein, however, has a slightly different version of events -- that doesn't include pointing the gun at Ruelas' chest.

From her statement:

"I was asked to show the reporter my weapon so that they could take pictures of it. I ensured that the chamber was clear before displaying the weapon. That is basic gun safety and something that I do instinctively, just like virtually every gun owner.

The photographer, who was behind me at the time, asked me to show him the laser sight, and I did so, turning it on and shining it on the wall in front of me (away from the photographer)."

In our e-mail, we asked Klein if she felt Ruelas baited her into pointing the gun at him -- again, however, she's done talking about it.

The recording of the interview that the Republic provided a link to does not support Klein's version.

I am a gun owner. I own a similar pistol to what Klein carries (Kel-Tec P3AT, Ruger copied it for the LCP Klein displayed). I have a concealed weapon permit. So I am generally very friendly to the rights of gun owners.

But Klein is a liar and a fool and has no business carrying a gun.

Our "loaded" Senator, DUI Lori Klein, pointing a loaded gun.  What's the worst thing that could happen?

Didn't she use the "I've learned a valuable lesson" line already?  After her DUI? Maybe she can add this to the "Lessons Learned" Section of her website. Read the following:

On October 2 2008, Lori Klein, who is a candidate for the Republican nomination for the Arizona Senate from Legislative District 6, was arrested and charged with violating ARS 28-701.02A3, (speed exceeding 85 MPH); ARS 28 -1381A1, (DUI); and ARS 28- 1381A2 (DUI with Blood-Alcohol of .08 or More). In other words, this wannabe law-maker, was breaking the law and driving without regard to human life, at 85 MPH on public roads with a very high octane blood-alcohol level. Thankfully the police apprehended her before she killed or injured anyone. After fighting the charges for over a year, Lori Klein was sentenced to 3 years probation; 1 day in jail which was served on 8/17/09; Alcohol Education with DUI Education, Treatment & Counseling with Court Support Services, which she completed on 10/28/2009; Ignition Interlock Device per MVD order and; Penalty Fees totaling $1,460.00, which she paid on 8/10/2009.Now, Lori Klein has tried to explain away her irresponsible behavior on her campaign Web site under a section she calls "Lessons Learned."

Again with the blowjob face. From Klein's campaign website, no less.

What was her campaign slogan? "I may have a face like a shar pei but I can suck a golf ball through a garden hose?"

Wake up people!!
Wake up people!!

Lori Klein lacks good judgment and common sense and should be punished like anyone else would.

It's irresponsible gun owners, like Ms Klein has proven herself to be, that do far more to advance any anti 2nd Amendment agenda.  Not surprisingly, she is absolving herself of any blame.

She claims she cleared the chamber before displaying the weapon as it's basic gun safety.  True, it is.  However, she seems to have skipped over the MOST basic rule of gun safety....Rule #1 of the NRA and any firearms safety course that is repeated over and over and over, "Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction; treat any gun whether loaded or unloaded as a loaded weapon."

Responsible gun owners should care less about her party affiliation and recognize that what she did can only be described as stupid.

Let her face the same penalties that any other person who points a gun at another person would face.

She is learning well (although slowly) from the likes of the Flaccid Fool of MCSO and Mr. pearce, her mentor from above. Here are the rules of Republican in Arizona:

(1) NEVER take responsibility for anything, unless it appears votes can be won.

(2) Ethics and morality are never important criteria for anything we say or do.

(3) Deny, deny, deny.

(4) Simply lie about it.

(5) Lie to cover the lies.

(6) Refuse to respond.

(7) Blame the Left.

(8) Blame the Independents.

(9) Blame the BAD Republicans (both of them).

(10) Wait for it all to blow over and then lie about it again, but only if you're in handcuffs and nothing you say will matter anyway.

I'm quite pro-2nd Amendment and I still think she should either be prosecuted or declared legally mentally incompetent. Strip her of her right to carry: she abused it.

I'm a gun owner. But I do have the occasional anti-second Amendment agenda. It usually arises when some moron points a fucking gun at me for no reason.

Ms. Klein is trying to distract from the real issue here, her lack of responsibility to safely handle her firearm...and her lack of character for not owning up to her bad judgement and then taking steps to remedy her deficiences.  A course in gun safety is in order at the very least.

All I can think about when I hear her name is how awesome it would be if her and Jan Brewer got it on.

Yeah, Ruelas baited her alright. He had the unmitigated gall to be Hispanic!!!!!!!!

As a member of both the ACLU and the NRA, I take exception to her comment about her questioners being anti 2nd amendment. They are simply "Anti Moron With a Gun"

Lee, let's not be disparaging shar pei. By comparison any one of them much more attractive than the senator.

She is a Republican in Arizona. Don't hold your breath.

I agree with everything except your last disengenous sentence.

If the reporter who had the gun pointed at him chose to Exercise his rights as a victim there is a strong probability she would be facing criminal charges, most likely criminal endangerment.

No victim, no crime.

Did you read the article in the Republic? Apparently Pearce, a mentally incompetent, sick old fool in his own right, really does make the rules for the Senate. Including banishment from the state Senate building for bad behavior. This should be used as evidence in Sal Reza's lawsuit...

Tommy Collins

J, please don't say, "strip her". It carries a visual that many of us can't handle...

Jason
Jason

It's Republinuts covering the asses of other Republinuts. What did you expect?

Ethics Chairman Ron Gould saw no need to call for an ethics investigation. Gould is a Republican. So is Klein. There's your answer.

Chad's firm doesn't even advertise, much less chase crashes for clients. In fact Chad does worker's comp cases... but you wouldn't know that or even care if you did know that. You're just here to use meaningless mishmash to try to belittle those of us who oppose your opinions and ideals. At least you live up to our expectations of your level of ineptness.

Tommy Collins
Tommy Collins

Yep, I read it. You are being too kind in your description of pearce, but I guess you're having one of your kinder, gentler days... Yes, I am sure his 'rules of russ' will be used in the litigation process...

Jason
Jason

Agreed. That is indeed a sickening visual...

Tommy Collins

Since we agree on this, let me add: Ms. Klein seems to be the poster child for why the 'concealed carry' law should never have passed. Had she attended a formal gun safety course she would have learned the basics, (1) A gun is NEVER unloaded and (2) Never point a gun at anything or anyone you're not wanting/intending to destroy.

Her very callous attitude about having pointed a gun at another human shows how little she cares for others. In my opinion, of course.

Jason
Jason

Yeah I am having one of my kinder, gentler days. Pearce is a mentally sick old fool though, and I know you agree with me on that position.

Tommy Collins

Sick. Very sick.... and funny as hell. Scratch and sniff where, I wonder? Yikes...

Jason
Jason

Uh, no. That visual is even worse than the "strip her" comment posted earlier on the thread...

Mistalee
Mistalee

Indeed. If we did so, we would likely discover that she has as many as thirty more concealed weapons, tucked away in various ripples, wrinkles and crevices.

Anybody for a "scratch and sniff" Ruger?
