You won't catch Ian Kennedy pitching in Tuesday's All-Star Game.
Despite massive amounts of votes from Arizona Diamondbacks fans, and even some support from Senator John McCain, pitcher Ian Kennedy lost out on his last-minute shot at making Tuesday's All-Star Game at Chase Field.

The D-Backs pitcher came up short in MLB's All-Star Game Final Vote contest, where baseball fans from around the nation selected one player from both the American League and National League to get the remaining spot on the reserve roster on each team's roster.

MLB announced earlier today that Shane Victorino from the Philadelphia Phillies won the spot on the NL's squad while Chicago White Sox baseman Paul Konerko (a onetime star at Chaparral High in Scottsdale) was chosen for the AL.

Kennedy, who was reportedly lagging way behind in the voting tallies yesterday, will likely spend the game watching the game from luxury skybox. Teammate Justin Upton, however, will be a member of the NL team, albeit as a reserve.

The sad irony of the situation is that Victorino might not even get to play at all, as he's suffering from a major thumb sprain and missed the Phillies' last three games. Even if he couldn't play, L.A. Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier (who came in second) would get the nod.
