The police and the prosecutors are controlled by political agendas. Those who are in power want to stay in power. It's not about justice or protecting the people from criminals. Everyone and everything is used in the court system to play in the the game arranged by whoever is currently running the game. Sometimes it's as simple as entertainment for the masses to distract them from what's really happening. The Forum in Rome was home to regular entertainment organized to keep the people's minds off their miserable lives instead of revolting against their leaders. The people fall for it everytime.

For the record, I agree with 'Roro'... Obviously, this case was handled poorly from the beginning, just like the OJ case. It's not the jury's fault, it's not a sign that our legal system is 'broken', and it's not some kind of evidence that lawyers are scum... What it IS is a sign that we need to reign in some of these prosecutors, and (In the case of the OJ murders) we need to keep an eye on how our police departments handle evidence and crime scenes. We saw something similar with the Duke LaCrosse team a few years ago, some jackass thought he could blow the actual case completely out of proportion, and look at the results.

Why aren't people angry with the prosecutor who "overcharged" the case. From what I've read, it looks like he was trying to give himself a death sentence case as a retirement present. From what I've read, the jury had to return a verdict of Capital Murder or nothing. Had they been allowed to find for a lesser included offense, she'd be in jail. During the trial, the defense basically admitted to negligent homicide but the jury couldn't find for that. The prosecution case was circumstantial with no witnesses, no time of death, no means of death, and no motive.... reasonable doubt had to rule the day.

Roro - I don't know what you have been reading, but you are misinformed as to the "Capital Murder or nothing" statement. There were 7 counts against Casey, and the first three (1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Child Abuse and Manslaughter of a Child) had several options as to "lesser includeds," everything from 2nd degree murder, to manslaughter, to child abuse - none of which have the death penalty as an option at sentencing. So I think that your theory that "if the jury could have chosen from lesser includeds she would be in jail" needs some tweaking. The jury acquitted her on the lesser includeds, as well.

At last, someone who understands the legal process! The dumbest jury in the world was waiting for "CSI" moments re evidence. Further, acording to the few dumasses who are talking, they say the State didn't show a motive, and that the case was too "circumstantial". Those idiots didnt read the jury instructions- circumstantial evidence is "good" evidence, and nowhere do the elements of ANY degree of murder in Florida require the showing of motive. I'm ashamed to be from Pinellas County, FL, home of the stupidest jurors on the planet.

Because people in the US are fed tripe from the lazy news media every day every minute. Nancy Grace is an ignorant slut and it was because of her and her media frenzy allies that the prosecution overcharged this thinking that the amount of negative coverage Casey received would guarantee a conviction, even on shaky evidence. The jury did what they were supposed to do and failed to convict on the more serious charges. There are murders of children by the parents every day in the U.S., but the lazy media does nothing to cover those. Grace should resign from her job!

You will note that Casey Anthony is a woman, not "women." And if by some odd twist of fate Casey Anthony WERE "women" rather than a woman, the appropriate verb would have been "are" rather than "is."So I was giving Mr. King a ribbing over his glaring first-line typo.

This was not pointed at Prescott, or Mexican-Americans, or any of the other dumbfuck things people assumed that it was. It was good-natured harassment aimed at Mr. King. Try not to overthink it.
