Arizona Now Official Billboard for Connecticut-Based Colt Gun Company

Yee-ha.
Following intense lobbying of state legislators by the Connecticut-based Colt gun company -- and a few flicks of Governor Jan Brewer's pen -- the Colt single-action Army revolver is now the official firearm of the state of Arizona, which will undoubtedly serve as rhetorical ammo for the state's haters who want to paint Arizonans as knuckle-dragging, gun-toting hillbillies.
The creation of an official state gun is only one of several laws that took effect yesterday.
State politicos spent their time -- and your money -- dreaming up the following bills that are now the law in the Grand Canyon State:
- A Tea Party license plate. More on that little gem -- which Tea Partiers didn't even want -- here.
- Governor Brewer can now form a volunteer militia for "any reason considered to be necessary." More on that here.
- If you're gay, don't waste your time trying to adopt a kid in Arizona -- them straight-folk are preferred, according to Arizona law. More on that here.
"Arizona Republicans hold all the power, and they've used it for all the wrong things," Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Andrei Cherny says. "The result is that jobs are nowhere to be found, schools are forgotten, and our communities are silenced."
But hey -- at least we have an official state gun, right?
