TSA Responds to Sky Harbor Freak Out Video

Categories: Travel
tsascreening.jpg
Since our earlier post about a Youtube video featuring a woman who freaked out at Sky Harbor International Airport, the Transportation Safety Administration has issued a response.

In case you missed it, during a routine security pat down, the woman claims the TSA officer
grabbed her breast -- then she goes ballistic, and her son is scolded by officers for recording the spectacle.

See the video -- and the response from TSA spokesman Nico Melendez -- after the jump..

Below is the statement from the TSA:

You may have seen the video of a woman at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport who was upset about her screening experience.

TSA takes all allegations of improper screening seriously and investigates each claim to the fullest. After reviewing this passenger's time at the checkpoint, we found that our security officers acted properly and neither the CCTV footage nor this YouTube video support any of the allegations levied. Real violations of our protocols are worth every ounce of our energy to investigate, but this alleged incident does not meet that threshold.

This incident has also raised many questions about whether or not passengers can film at checkpoints. This topic is currently under review, but you can read this blog post on our current policy for photography at checkpoints.

The maniac alleged mother of the cameraman aside, the man shooting the video is a little suspect in all of this as well -- he seems to have an obsession for pissing off TSA officials and posting it on Youtube, which makes the whole thing seem a little staged.

Check out another one of his Youtube hits below.

Cop says they violated other's right to peace because they offended people by using the word 'f**k' yet at the same time says it's ok to grab genitals because the fine print on the plane ticket says you consented to the rape. Good bye 4th Amendment!

so...it is the photographer's father helping to stage this scene.  Also the photographer has blood shot eyes.

Yes, we have rights.  One on them is to NOT FLY!   What a bunch of crap.  He would be the first to complain if some terrorist got on his flight.    Yes, I know it is humilitating, but I don't want to take the bus or train...or drive.

Even if he has filmed the TSA before and anyone who can quickly counter the TSA lies to their face is probably into doing just that -- but even if true -- that still does not discount the TSA's lawless response that "you can film us"?  Why the heck not?  It's the same freedom that allows ordinary citizens to work in journalism -- freedom of the press.  As JFK said -- that even the word secrecy is repugnant in a free society -- why do we need secrecy?

The TSA simply doesn't want to put under a microscope because things like this come out and then we can compare it to their white wash response that they did not violate any of their protocol.

I don't think their protocol is in question here, but rather the illegality of their protocol.  Being subjected to unlawful searches and seizures is still wrong regardless of what the TSA manual says.  Their manual does not surpass the bill of rights, unless there is some new constitutional amendment I don't know about.

What a tempest in a teapot...a little twit with a camera and a hysterical woman looking for a free flight or 15 minutes of fame who think they can disrupt an entire airport, and annoy other passengers and disrupt their peace.  And then the little twit starts (mis)quoting and (mis)applying the Constitution.  What a bunch of emotionally disturbed idiots this family is.

If you or I threaten to "fucking break someone's face" it would be considered a crime.  Cops routinely break the law and little is done about it.

A Chandler Class West member accuses Mr. King of being a TSA/OBAMA and CIA plant. We admit this seems a bit far-fetched, because Mr. King wouldn't be living on rice cakes and cheap beer if he's on the Federal payroll:

Pardon the obscenities of our E-mailer.

"...this a-hole King is in the pockets of the NWO thugs.  He claims to be a liberal, yet he defends Nazi-like TSA shakedowns.  Kings been recruited by the CIA, TSA, and Obama behind the scenes.  They need the media to maintain control.  Keep an eye on this motherfucker King..."

TSA performs illegal searches.   They are not peace officers and there is no cause for searches.    You cannot take the 911 manufactured incidents as a reason to violate the public with DNA damaging xrays or searching by feeling up their bodies.   The whole TSA thing has benefited a few and made them rich.    Who was the CEO of the companies that built, sold and installed the new back scatter xray machines in airports?   The first homeland security director who authorized the machines to be used.    Corruption and fraud.   All the people that defend these practices could care less about their freedom.    No one will ever change their minds.   They're good little fascist loving, government defenders and lovers of the mainstream media's depictions of illusion.

The cops hate cameras and so do control freaks like TSA, here's a perfect example from Miami of the illegal steps cops will go to in an attempt to prevent any video of their actions being used to contradict their often embellished reports:

Staged or not it is obvious that the TSA and airport personnel routinely attempt to deprive people of their rights to film in the airport by falsely claiming it is illegal.

There is a reason that cops and the TSA, who aren't cops, hate people filming them, cameras are good at catching people who are abusing their authority.

Unfortunately, we need an agency to protect the rest of the public from nut jobs like this, or at least discourage them from flying so the rest of us can travel in peace.

TSA is sexually abusing thousands of people every day.  Every single person who endures unwanted sexual contact from these monsters needs to be screaming and calling for the police, because these thugs are not going to stop until they get their hands down your little child's pants.  TSA - you don't get on unless we get off.

These people obviously have come to provoke an incident. Is it about fame, YouTube or the possibility of a monetary payday? And what is it with this guy's focus on being touched by another man? He's seems pretty homophobic, I wonder if they are members of that church that pickets soldiers funerals to protest homosexuality? They certainly demonstrated themselves to be obnoxious screwballs.

I am no fan of the TSA, I think its the biggest waste of an agency tehre is but its pretty clear this woman is a total nutcase looking for either publicity, a quick payoff or both.

It's not an illegal search if you consent.  Last time it was challenged the courts rule that once you have put a bag on the x-ray belt, you have consented.

You clearly have never been patted down by the police if you think calling them is an improvement to what the TSA do.

What idiots. Sure, this family planned on getting some video footage, but without the abuses by the TSA, there would be NO FOOTAGE.

That maybe so -- that the woman is exaggerating her response, but reflecting on it -- shouldn't we be outraged that strangers can fondle us and touch our private areas as a matter of course.  I mean -- you can react calmly and protest quietly "shh... sir I do not approve of this procedure" -- or you can get really outraged and say and act like this woman.  Which one reaction will get your message across.  If your intent was to get your message across, then that woman's reaction was exactly what was needed.  Otherwise, why say anything in the first place.

Hopefully videos like this will help other Americans wake up and realize how dumb we are for not opposing this gestapo right from the start.  I think we all have heard of the frog in boiling water -- we are the frogs.  They are just slowly increasing the temperature of the water.  Shouldn't we be outraged that without any probable cause everyday Americans and even children (children for crying out loud) get fondled by these strangers whom I heard are not even sworn peace officers.  Not even cops are allowed to do this to you without probable cause to believe you have committed a crime or are about to commit one.  The way the TSA is set up -- everyone is guilty until they can satisfy themselves (with their hands mind you) that you are not hiding some plastics explosives in the crack of your ass or around your genitals -- it is ridiculous.

Our memories are so short, this is a price we pay for a needed bit of safety when traveling since 911. Now douchebag's like this are making travel less safe pulling stunts like this to make and posting it on you tube. S

Exactly right, TSA is trying to pick fights with people who travel daily.

When TSA is not picking fights these TSA employees are feeling up 6 year old kids, old men and women, mothers and fathers while doing nothing to enhance commercail aviation security.

Is it also sick that a Southwest security person falsely claims it is illegal to film him?Is it sick that TSA employees routinely attempt to intimidate people into not filming them despite even the TSA admitting it is perfectly legal?

How many terrorists has the TSA caught?

Zero

It's all a big show.

Yet the TSA still has employees who, without justification, falsely claim that filming is not permitted.

Why is that?

So why is the airport allowedto tape everything? The airport is a public venue and paid for and supportedwith taxpayer funds. And obviously the airlines have to kick in to rent space. And I've all always been told when in the public area, or property you don'thave a complete right to privacy. There are a few places cameras aren’tallowed…. Some Federal Court proceedings, and all Supreme Court activity.  That’s the thing, there are no restrictionson filming people in public. There is a statue that prevents medicalestablishments from filming without patients written approval. I don’t reallyunderstand how TSA gets a pass to molest people??? Cops can only doing it afterarresting you.

The law always supercedes all rules and policies that theycome out with. Laws and policies are two different things.

Mistalee

Because they are petty little despots. They know that you paid several hundred bucks for your ticket, you have a limited time to board the plane, and therefore they have you by the short hairs. You KNOW when you are dealing with these jackbooted jackoffs that you can't afford the consequences of making a scene, and they know it too, so they do what they want. Generally, we all let them get away with it.

And that's the point. As you have rightly pointed out, the TSA hasn't done bugger-all to stop a hijacking or bombing. What they have done is condition Americans to be submissive to authority, even when that authority is disrespectful and intrusive.

Yourproductsucks
Yourproductsucks

There was no such footage. Quit making up lies to fit your agenda lib. The end does not justify the means.

Are you frightened he is going to bite someone on a plane?  Perhaps gnaw his way through to door to the cockpit?  What threat to security did this guy with a camera present at a security checkpoint that led to numerous people to tell him to stop filming?

Is it a risk to security to film a TSA employee fondling a man?

ED

Don't be the frog in a boiling water.  You cannot deny that this is happening to Americans. May be it hasn't been your turn, but when it does come down to you, then you will see the light.  Is it okay as long as it is not being done to you?  What you fail to realize is that if these people lose their rights and are mistreated in this way, so can you in the future.  If they lose their rights, we all lose them.

So we need to ban people with caps to make flying safer?

What, exactly, was disorderly about the person filming?  He seemed rather calm in the face of several persons falsely claiming it was ILLEGAL to film.  He politely stated he would stop filming immediately if they told him what law he was allegedly violating.  He asked a real cop if what he was doing was lawful and the cop had no problem with it.

Monte Thrash

LOL. You need to get your head on straight. I don't agree with the idea that this family planned on getting some video footage, but the fact is that the TSA is abusive and violates our rights every day. Gestapo had the same authority to begin with.
