Drug Runner's "Going to Be Pissed" About Nearly $9 Million in Meth and Heroin Seized by PCSO, His Supposed Wife Tells Cops

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office seized about $9 million worth of meth and black-tar heroin during a traffic stop on SR 347 just south of Maricopa, and the man moving the drugs apparently is going "going to be pissed."

About 9 p.m. Friday, police stopped a Nissan Armada SUV. Once stopped, a Hispanic man wearing jeans and a blue- and-grey-striped shirt leaped from the passenger seat and sprinted east into the desert.

A woman, claiming to be his wife, remained in the driver's seat as police searched the SUV.

Inside the car, cops found about 196 pounds of meth and about 102 pounds of black-tar heroin in plain sight.

The drugs seized by police

"Nothing in the vehicle is mine," 28-year-old Jessica Velasco of Standfield told cops at the scene. "The vehicle belongs to my husband, and he is going to be pissed. I'm not a bad guy, just did a bad thing."

The PCSO determined that the drugs were brought across the border and carried through the desert into Pinal County. They were then loaded into the SUV for transport and delivery throughout the U.S.

Velasco was booked on one count each of possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug for sale, transportation of a dangerous drug, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug for sale, and transportation of a narcotic drug. She was booked into the Pinal County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Police are still looking for the man who escaped into the desert.

Did the deputy stumble on this during a traffic stop or was it part of a surveillance? If it resulted from a regular traffic stop, congratulations to the deputy for being out there doing his job.

How did that much product get through and out of the Vekol Valley and north of the Interstate without being detected by our PCSO protectors? Or are Gaffney and Babeu being coy and not telling us the whole story? Hope someone was watching these folks 'cuz in another ten milesthey would have been in Maricopa County and Babeu would have lost the big score.

Wonder what news interview Babeu was doing at the time his deputy was making a real traffic stop?
